I don't throw around with the "masterpiece stamp" very often. But this album is a genuine masterpiece.

I agree. I've been listening to their two albums for years and I feel like they keep getting better every time I come back to them. Sober or otherwise, they're genius.

I'm relieved. I've been listening it for a while now and I have a feeling it might grow sometime but that never happens. Instead, I get to stick with a single song for a time. First was Child Steps and now I've been listening to Eyesore a lot. Maybe it's that my subconscious lack imagination to create a background for the experience (which usually makes albums grow on me)

with how much time he spends on the reviews anyway, I really don't think it's because he doesn't have time to write a longer summary of the review, rather it's probably so that viewers can more quickly get a general idea of the review.

I think it's interesting how you ALMOST slam the album but end up really loving it. I felt mixed about their first album (though 'Shaking Hand' is still my favorite track of '08), and for Public Strain I felt really put-off on the first few listens, but now I can't stop listening to it. I love this album and it might even be my favorite of 2010 because of how interesting it is. It's the sound I've been missing for a long time.

I bought this LP a couple days ago, keeping it in my mind after watching this review months ago. I agree with you very much. Liars is one of my favourite bands, and I LOVE this album. I love that its like a combination of poppy stuff yet, its overridden with some kind of disease. We just had a blizzard here in milwaukee, as most of the country did and the cover and mood of this album has been perfect these past few days. This album and Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music. can't get enough of them.

Separately, I love most of the songs on this, maybe not in the same capacity as Anthony (Bells, Untogether, and Venice Lockjaw weren't overly impressive), but when I listened to it front to back the pacing seemed a little off. All the songs are so different moodwise, it felt a little rushed and short. It may be because I expected something different from this album, like a dystopian narrative, this band is very hard to pin down. Still love it though, I'm sure it will continue to grow on me
