She will run against "senior world class" competition at USATF Outdoor Championships in this same venue on June 23-25 ! !
@annasdad80082 жыл бұрын
“Senior world class” is a whole different level. This same track will host the US Nationals in a few weeks (June 23-26) then the World Championships July 15-24 (first time ever in the US). To make the US team for Worlds an athlete must be among the top three at Nationals who have met qualifying times. For the women’s distance events on the track they are: 4:05.70 for 1500, 15:13 for 5,000. According to the USATF official listings there are currently 12 women automatically qualified by time for the 1500 meters and 8 women automatically qualified for the 5,000 meters. Tuohy does not have an automatic qualifying time in either distance but is high enough among the non qualifiers so she should get an invitation to Nationals based on ranking (3rd among non qualifiers for 1,500 and 1st among non qualifiers for 5,000). Note that the top 3 women in the 1,500 all have times under 4:00 and the top 4 women in the 5,000 all have times under 14:55 (with the fastest, Elise Cranny, at 14:33.17).

People were bashing Kate at the start of NCAA when she couldn't even place. But I knew she was still recovering from major knee surgery. She was thinking about her future rather than the next win. It takes a full year to recover from knee surgery and that's for normal people not counting D1 distance runners. Katelyn is not only a strong runner she is a smart runner. You have to credit her great coaching. This race proves that she is certainly the real deal and she has a bright future ahead barring any further injuries.

I'm not sure she's underrated, especially after this competition. Her improvement this season has been pretty crazy, so it's not like she's been tearing up the tracks and everyone was ignoring her. She's been setting new personal bests back to back. Her PB went from a 15:32 less than a month ago to a 15:29 two weeks ago, and now knocked ANOTHER 9 SECONDS off her PB, posting a 15:20 today. And keep in mind, less than a year ago she posted a 16:54 (cross country). If she's been underrated, it was Parker underrating her own ability, and she's just gaining confidence and conditioning.

Not sure about that. Katelyn seems to get along with everyone. Chmiel was her biggest rival in high school and they are teammates. I guess one thing I noticed is that Valby in two races seemed to make a point of running next to Katelyn and crowding her. It seemed like a crude psyche job attempt, maybe something her coach came up with. But KT has been running these type of races since 7th grade. Valby also did not congratulate KT after the race, but I only sw Roe and KT's teammates doing that so not a big deal. I think Valby thought she would outstrength everyone and was surprised she didn't win.
