I remembered I memorized scriptures and tried to slap a scripture on my emotions...ended up with a breakdown..Then I experienced the PERFECT LOVE OF GOD..And the Holy Spirit began to teach me how to express my feelings..Then the Spirit would respond as to what to do..whether talking to someone.. maybe I just need the Spirits comfort...the beauty about expressing to God first..he leads me to communicate with others or obey his word after I expressed feelings.. This was 2 yrs ago and it's still very painful. I resonate with what Dr Anita said about your heart...mine aches. Thanks again Lisa, your choice of guests is superb and I even learned my husband was a narcissistic through Dr Romani. It's like narcissists are given the same script. One more comment :) I disagree that emotions come before thoughts. For example when she says "my emotion is telling me I'm not safe", it's actually thinking first "I'm not safe" and my body responds with the emotion of fear. It's just that we might not always be AWARE of the underlying thought but it is there. And it's a logical fallacy to flip it around. For the rest, I'm in a 100% agreement that emotions are physical and that they are our absolutely crucial inner "GPS" signals when navigating this life. One way or another, it's important to listen to our feelings. I have just found that by questioning my thoughts and beliefs, and subsequently changing my perspective, I can change the way I feel about situations, people etc. So in my world, thoughts come first and they bring out emotions. That is the way I can tell whether what I'm thinking and believing is beneficial or detrimental to me.

This resonated with me. During COVID, I was in a great place of healing, and after the world opened back up, that feeling of connection was loud in my head. I connected to a relationship that was definitely based on wanting that human connection again, as if I missed out on something. The signs were definitely there, yet I held on to that connection. My entire world was spinning out of control. The woman who had spent two years starting her healing I ldidn’t recognize in that relationship. God needed my attention, and after experiencing nine deaths in my family, a 9-pound fibroid tumor, losing my house, and losing my job, I finally got the courage to walk away from the relationship. I ran back to my first love, which was God. Now, things are working out for my good. I later discovered why this relationship brought so much turmoil and pain. The person I thought was everything to me at that time was living an entire lie about their life. I had to feel it to heal it. Just in case someone needed clarity on why they felt like having a relationship is the only connection, know this: Community, family, and friends can give you the connection you need. I’m a witness.

So maybe I just need to be present in the moment, note when my heart beats fast and shallow, when my stomach is tied up in knots, when I feel anxious and unsafe and they're telling me it's for 'no reason'. And believe it, and keep working towards health and safety. God help me.

I was molested when I was 9 by another 9 year old girl. My mom let me go on a sleep over. As an adult looking back, I wonder who did those things to her that she did to me all night long basically like 2 adults having sexual relations. When I left her house I was changed, and I didn’t know it or realize it until I entered my 30’s. I didn’t know what that feeling was that she gave me so I began to seek it which made me appear impulsive, promiscuous and mean for most of my early life. I made bad decisions due to poor judgement and impulsivity. I am still healing but I am also doing better identifying myself and my needs .
