This has always been one of my favorites from this album, between James vocal delivery and the heaviness and chunkiness of the riffs and drumming, James absolutely righteous fury at the influence of televangelists and how it took his mother from him definitely pulsates through this entire song. You can feel it in your bones

💬I don’t normally do this anywhere by my live streams but I am highly compelled to recommend @MollyBoyTV (www.youtube.com/@MollyBoyTV) if you haven’t checked out his reactions yet. I recently discovered him and for me, his energy and style are great. Plus… Metallica and Slayer made him tear up… and that spoke to me. 😊 This song has been a staple in my life since I first heard it in 1986 along with this amazing album. It is another example of an album that made me stop what I was doing the first time I heard it. I love most of their music but this album was just special. Enjoy! 💜

You never fail to impress MommaOG! Master of Puppets was my introduction to Metallica back in the late 80s. I have loved Metallica since I was 13 years old. And there’s no weak song on this album and this one just happens to be my favorite of this album. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma and my first job in 1993 was at an amusement park. I worked concessions. Metallica was coming through with GNR and I told my folks I had to work because the show was at the fairgrounds where I worked. Now I’m a preachers kid so I was limited on what I could listen to. So I bought tickets to the show and on the night the concert was supposed to happen Axl Rose decided he didn’t want to play that night so the entire show was cancelled. I was so depressed I actually went to work for real. So Metallica skyrocketed and Oklahoma didn’t have a venue that was fitting of a Metallica so until 2017 when we finally built an arena that was big enough for them to play. They were a bucket list artist I dreamed of seeing. My perfect wife bought tickets and sat through a show and watched me, a 43 year old man, geek out like a kid screaming every note. Still one of the greatest moments of my life along with getting my Blue Cord at Ft Benning, serving in Afghanistan, marrying my wife, seeing Phil Collins live in 2004, and seeing Roger Waters do The Wall live. Great job!

😭What an amazing story! I'll bet it was amazing for your wife to witness one of your dreams coming true. Thanks for sharing all of that. And (insert salute emoji here), sir. My partner and I were going to go see them last summer when they were touring but the tickets were outrageously expensive. We went to see Guns and Roses instead, oddly enough. lol I have never seen them live before... and it is on my bucket list as well. I hope I'm able to before they stop touring.

@WonderMommaOG10 ай бұрын
Truth be told, I love most of their music across the board... but MOP is special to me because it was new... it was a change, a shift... and I happen to be 14/15 at the time... just when life for me was changing and shifting drastically. I don't know why but it represents a pretty significant time in my life that I only credited it for later in life. Which was a beautiful thing. I definitely plan on covering some tracks from RTL as well as some of the rest of their albums. With the Black Album, many people didn't like that one, but it was a standout for me for so many reasons. But overall, for me, Metallica can never do wrong musically. They've already proven themselves many times over. Thanks for your comment... I love having conversations like this!
