When I was a child the original Charlie and the chocolate factory was my favorite movie. I would watch it every day multiple times a day and make my whole family watch with me. Most of my family got tired of me asking them to rewatch it for the 100th time but my grandma never did. She always watched it with me, sung the songs, and rehearsed the lines with me. she never got tired of it. Earlier this year she passed away and I wish I could see this with her but when it comes out I will go see it in honor of her with a empty seat next to me just for her. Edit: I didn’t mean the one with Johnny Depp I meant the original movie with Gene Wilder just forgot it was named Willy wonka and the chocolate factory instead of Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Every character I've seen Timothée Chalamet play is usually soft-spoken and reserved ... so it's kind of odd to see him in an energetic role like this. At the end of the day, though? @TheFBl Жыл бұрын
There's not a single point in this trailer when he was energetic....his whole persona is a quiet stereotypically attractive wet dream for teenage girls on TikTok 😅
@@GmmBeast It doesn't feel right because it isn't right. He's good at certain roles, but his range in acting itself isnt very broad. He is incapable of playing certain characters because he doesn't know how to immerse himself in the role. There are much better options to play Wonka, but of course the casting directors care more about mainstream actors rather than the smaller actors. For some reason it kinda gave me an Edgar Wright feel to it. I know a lot of his elements aren’t there or even exist in the film but the bizarre element of a “ chocolate mafia “ that is trying to take Wonka down seems like something Edgar Wright would do, only way more crazier. The comedy also feels somewhat Edgar Wright too. Like the “ no daydreaming penalty “ and the “ a-huh “ joke. Um, I agree that this looks great, but are you aware that Dahl actually hated the older Gene Wilder movie, largely because of how much they changed it without consulting him? The whole reason why it was called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" rather than "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was at Dahl's request, to put as much distance between it and his book as possible. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Wilder film and again, this new one looks incredible, but imo the 2005 Burton film was more in keeping with Dahl's vision.

I think the magic really fails when watching a movie with an actor that doesn’t change their appearance and looks the same as they did in their other movies. But this just looks like “Hey it’s that guy from the movie Beautiful Boy dressed up as Willy Wonka” 🤷🏻
@dylan3017 Жыл бұрын
His range is that of a brooding snob. There is no weight in his word choice. The way he said "military" in his first minute of screentime in Dune would suggest he doesn't know how to emphasize that some words have more weight to them. "Absolutely insane" is basically the same. Granted he is trying in this one, but he feels a bit... restrained. I get an "Ed Wood selling his dream with a gun at his head" vibe from him. Film is going to be "meh".

@@westyboi1845I kinda disagree. That cast is stacked!!! Also, this has a magical vibe compared to the Tim Burton version that has a tinge of eeriness to it which is good too.
@MRBenchwork Жыл бұрын
The Tim Berton version was just too far removed from the original film. I realize it was actually more accurate to the book, but that's not how most people remember the story.

Wow this looks amazing! People were talking like it was going to be dark and gritty, instead it's whimsical, with dance numbers! This trailer totally changed my opinion on this movie. I can't wait to see it.

@@HumongusAmongus Yeah, I'm glad I never heard it was gonna be dark and gritty, or I'd be even more disappointed with the trailer. It looks so... typical. And who asked for dance numbers? The Oompa Loompas are bad enough. And they chose the old model for them? Ugh.
@scaron1933 Жыл бұрын
@@BeeWhistler They kind of never really got the Look of the Oompa Loompas right.. at least based on the book and the PC world we currently live in would never stand for it.
