I was there, front and center at the stage, naked except for combat boots and covered in mud. I had been discharged from the Army earlier that week, and this was my reintroduction into civilization. The RHCP set was incredible. Dave threw his guitar into the crowd at the end of Higher Ground and two guys came very close to killing each other over it. At the end of their set I turned around and walked straight out through that massive sea of people. One of my most unforgettable concert memories for sure.

Dave Navarro was a boss. He stepped up to the fucking plate and kept that band alive when they should’ve been over - without him there wouldn’t have even been a band for John to return to. He played John’s and Hilel’s songs faithfully with conviction and without complaint, he contributed his own stuff when needed, and he still stayed his own man. Although John won’t play OHM tracks, I certainly believe he respects and appreciates Dave’s efforts.

I was working at a major retail music store in Western Michigan at the time of Woodstock 94. There was a girl a few years younger than me working there who always had RHCP buttons on her work vest. One day I noticed she seemed upset. I asked her what was wrong. She said she had asked for the next weekend off a very long time back but now they're saying they need her to work because some employees had left and they wouldn't have anyone trained in time. I asked her why she had asked for it off so long ago and she said it was Woodstock. I was like, ok, it should be a cool concert, but why was she so upset? She said, well because my brother's band is headlining. I'm like...who's your brother...and she's like Anthony Kiedis. I look at her and I'm like OMFG she looks SO much like him (I think they were half siblings.) Suffice to say, she quit, most likely went to the concert, and I never saw her again. I was 9 in 1991… Southern CA culture was rad Basketball high tops, neon colors, Body Glove, Vision Streetwear…this record epitomizes the look & feel of the era…it doesn’t hurt that Point Break came out that year & Kiedis has his infamous line “…that would be a waste of tyyyme”.… Me now, as a drummer of 20+ yrs, this record is in my top 10 if not 5. It still holds up being a fantastic production & some of the most solid & fun grooves to throw on & play along with. I gravitated to & emulated so much from Chad Smith directly from this album alone when growing up… If you haven’t heard of Funky Monks, check it out - it’s a documentary on the band recording this album & frankly a lovely glimpse back into a simpler time (even for L.A.)

No argument, John belongs to the Peppers, but Dave was an excellent addition for this brief period in time. He is also massively talented.

One Hot Minute is THE album that got me into the Chili Peppers. Warped is a fucking CHOON. Yes, I know its not their best album, but i never understood the hate for it. And Dave was awesome 🤘🏻🔥🎸

@jacinto14772 жыл бұрын
it's a f*cking crime that the rhcp dont even play any track of ohm(except aeroplane and pea, i guess).There's tons of great stuf here ,some of it probably their best material yet they refused to play it.

I know the other peppers say that they didn't really connect with Dave Navarro but he brought attitude to the band in my opinion. His guitar work is on point everytime, he really hits the mark every song and his solos are brutal. That and One Hot Minute is a great album. Therefore I'm glad to see a lot of people appreciating his work

Dave played GREAT on this. His era in RHCP deserves more respect... mainly from the band themselves.

Dave Navarro was not the best replacement for John, but he’s a hell of a guitarist and did what he needed to do with his time in the band.
