This guy is a really good instructor. I hope he puts out intermediate level woodturning videos too.

These woodturning 201 videos have got to be some of the best I've run across in 3 years of learning to turn. Done in real time, even small "mistakes" like I make are left in, good verbal description during the turning, good video angles to show how to approach the wood with the tool. Thank you so much. Seeing the 1/2" double grind bowl gouge and how it is used convinced me to order a Henry Taylor tool from Craft Supply!

An excellent instructional video with good camera work and first class narrative from an experienced craftsman. One perhaps surprising result is that it has helped me to "see with new eyes", it has raised my horizons to this 'mark of craftsmanship'. Well done to all those involved and to the sponsors.

So glad to see these videos. I took this class in 2015 and it is nice to get a refresh on the projects That I made in the class, but haven't done in years. Showing how to fix the opps is worth watching this video. Thanks Kirk

Super videos Kirk! Since watching your first box making video(20 times..Ima quick study) and adopting your sequencing , not only have my boxes improved in quality, but I'm actually turning them out quicker with less sanding and enjoying the whole process a lot more. After that 1st video , I started putting inserts in my lids using that same compression jam chuck method and sneaking in the inside, side door for that perfect fit. Even dedicated and reground a half inch skew just for that side door scrape. Many thanks Kirk and by the way, that pencil trick carried over from the first video was worth the price of admission for both. Great great stuff brother. 👍

Nice detail on the bottom and good advice about getting the public to pick it up, can use all the help I can at craft shows now that I'm retired and only SS to live on.

Hey Kirk. Is scratch free similar in use to uBeaut's, EEE compound? Also, does the wax in the scratch free block the tried and true from penetrating and/or adhering?

If you ever tired ACKS abrasive paste and Acks double carnuba wax polish, you do not have to sand over 320 grit, Varnish is great for a table top but not at the lather where nowe you have to wait a days or days for curing.

Oh dear all that effort to get a good fitting lid but no mention of moisture content in the wood, no part turning, so next day when the wood moves and it will what has happened to the fit of the lid. Sorry that’s not good craftsmanship.

The moisture content is covered at 4:07. 😊

@@CraftSuppliesUSA my apologies i missed that bit. I would Always part turn when making boxes, especially as I make nesting boxes that require a perfect fit. Stuart
