Nice work, Kim! I have the same problem with using CA glue - best solution I have is to spot sand the surface where the glue was applied.
@WOODTURNINGBYBRANDSTRUP4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick, Thank you for watching and for the comment 😀 I have done the same with spot sanding, and it works to a degree but special in punkey wood it is har to remove completely, but I got some god tip to with sanding sealer before using the CA I am gonna try that next time.. i have 8 more rough turned blanks from this birch tree with spaltning, so there will be plenty of opportunity to try it out 😀 Have a great day Rick, and stay safe 😀😀 ..

An incredible art piece that will, I am sure, make it for generations to come. I have been experimenting with wet sanding Danish Oil into cracks to stop the cracks and so far been successful. The fill created by the oil is a little darker, but it has always come out looking more like a natural blemish in the wood. Thanks again for an amazing share. Stay safe and keep warm as your winter comes there in the Northern hemisphere.

Using an accelerator with CA can reduce the coloring effect as well, it hardens before penetrating and filling the pores of the wood as much. But as was stated before, sealed wood pores will stop the CA from getting in there. Very nice bowl, spalted birch is great.

Hi William, thank you for the tip with the accelerator. I have to try that too.. Thank you very much for watching.. have a great day and stay safe 😀

Same here. A little sanding sealer just around the crack stops it soaking into the surrounding wood.

Looks like the same hollowing tool I bought recently, also using 12mm carbide. Mine might be a bit shorter though. Haven't worked much with it yet but it cuts very well.

It is a really good tool, i made the handel my self and the handel is around 50 cm as I remember .. when you use it remember to take the tool rest a little more back than normal else the tool will flip on you, dont go past the flat part.. i wont tell you how I know LOL, thank you for watching .. stay safe and have a great day .. 😀

Lovely spalting in the wood. To begin with, I did not like the shape of the rim, but it grows on you. Well done. I assume the wood was wet or semi dry since you needed to coat it to prevent spitting.
