That Maine Maple is simply one of the best - truly, with any kind of grain ... and I also appreciate a bowl with a little meat on its bones ... the way it feels in your hands - says a lot. Nice bowl🙃

Thanks Peggy - another lovely example of your artistry and your commentary is very welcome. My wood shavings go to a local bee keeper - she tells me they are much better as fuel for the smoker than the purpose made pellets which keep going out.

I use shavings in the flower beds It can be used as fire starter. A coffee can. 75 full and a bit of diesel or even baby oil works well. I have to ask, are you by any chance a Pink Floyd fan. I love the bowl and your narrative. Peace ✌️ and love baby. Child of the 60s.

Enjoy your videos. I use most of my voluminous shaving pile for compost in the garden. My dirt is so soft, and grows anything! About the CA in the cracks, I noticed you didn;t show the whole sanding process. Usually you have to take a layer off otherwise if you sand off the stain, you will get a depression. Good job doing some editing. Because of you , I am going to try my luck with Epoxy and dyes.

I agree, sometimes the simple bowls that I turn are my favorite ones. As far as the shavings go, my wife uses them in making fire starters with wax. I keep some around to help with the drying process. But for the most part I put them in the compost pile. I'm still looking for some creative way of using them... Great bowl Peggy. Take care 👍👍✌️

Nice job, PF!! Simplicity in wood turning is some times the best way to go; particularly when wood does not offer much in colors. I like bowls with some meat to them as opposed to thin wall turning. I tend to make the inside larger than the outside when I try to turn a thin wall bowl.

Nicely shaped bowl. Thanks for the product discounts, just ordered some more Acks paste using your discount code. 🙂 Most of my shavings fall straight into a large box strategically placed beneath the lathe then every few weeks it gets dumped back into our woods & turned into the ground. We have been turning a lot of plain Jane sycamore lately. Like Maple very plain so to enhance we usually apply pecan or cherry or gunstock stain. Gives the bowl some nice color.

A very nice bowl Peggy. I have found that people love the fancy bowls, but buy the more basic ones most often. Like you, I don’t turn my bowls thin. I know that you turn a lot of Maple, but have you ever turned Black Limbs? I give most of my shaving to a friend that puts them in her chicken yard.

I can’t remember what it is called but their is a tool that you use for carving out a bowl. Then you don’t have as much shavings and it allows for you to have a second bowl or more. Now after all of that do you have on of the tools?
