I think you are one of the most underrated woodworkers on KZbin. Great advice using tools many have and excellent technique.

Thank you for making this video. I’m learning a lot. In this video I learned that my first big upgrade will be a table saw that can take dado blades. 😊

I use a dado stack almost as much as my regular saw blade. I honestly wish I had the space and money to have two table saws and two radial arm saws so I didn't have to switch out the blades all the time.

This must be like a bit of a mental break for you, after the French door build, a cabinet your could probably build in your sleep, it’s a nice proportioned piece of furniture and will look good when finished 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺

This size piece of furniture is just about the perfect size for my shop too. I can make it pretty quickly and move it around easily. Not the most exciting build, but I agree I do like when stuff like this is requested.

Wonderful project. Thank you for sharing. Pocket hole assembly does get used sometimes when it should not. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia

I never thought about using splines to attach the face frames. I use a router bit set made for that. Great start on the cabinet.

Hi 👋, Honey 🍯 B , that is a great cabinet and simple to make with minimal amount of tools, it is the sort of job you could use a Track Saw to cut out your components, well done, l think there is a lot of problems with plywood now days, all over the world, not as good as it used to be, Stay safe keep up the great work, France

Always enjoy your videos and seeing how you plan and design the pieces. This may seem a strange comment, I love seeing your workshop as it looks like one. There is sawdust all about, offcuts and the work table looks like it has done a lot of work. It reminds me of my own workshop. I don't like the prestine workshops, they have no character. Thank you for sharing your skills. 😊

Not strange at all, that's actually a comment I get pretty frequently on here. That my shop looks like their own shop. I wouldn't mind a little less sawdust around though.

I was using a neighbor's shop radial arm saw with a dado and I have much respect for your work! Those things can remove ALOT of material fast while trying to climb toward you. Love the results on that cabinet! Look forward to the finish of it!

Actually thanks for mentioning that. Dados cuts do like to grab the material, and I wanted to mention that in the video for people that have never used one in a RAS before.

For face frames pocket screws is a good all turn alternative to mortise and tenons and attaching them to the carcass as well! Looking good!

Domestic plywood is still pretty good. I opened an account at my local cabinet supply (I am a cabinet maker), it was pretty easy. I find the Columbia brand very nice, and I have found consistent import plywood that has many layers like Baltic birch…. The veneers are thin no matter how much you spend but the lack of voids is a bonus. Over a project the size of this you will spend about $40 more than lowes but with at least $40 less in frustration.

Always interesting to see how you construct your pieces. I recently made a similar cabinet but didn't use dados and suffered badly as a result. I have to say though that I stopped pinning face frames on as the effort in hiding them after took far more time and patience I just don't have. It's a lot of clamping or taping but saves a lot of frustration. I guess I have more time to wait for glue to set. Thanks for sharing your work.

For paint grade stuff I usually brad because filler can be annoying, but usually cleans up pretty fast.

Yes, plywood has really gone down hill. I have a local plywood supplier and they even complain about it. I’ve taken to using MDF where I can for paint grade despite the dust and it being so heavy.

It's awful, the adhesive on my last years worth of orders is terrible. Multiple sheets with large air pockets and no glue adhesion at all. And the best part is you don't even really notice it until the finishing stage when the veneer absorbs moisture and bubbles up. Super fun to fix.

This is why I stopped buying from Lowes. Their quality has gone so downhill. I buy my plywood from a local cabinet shop now. It's a little more expensive but it's worth it.

Box store plywood is definitely not the best , recommend finding a whole sale lumber, where you can get premium quality material.👍🏝️🇨🇦

I’ve gotten stuff from suppliers before and the issue is it’s just a further drive. Lowes is so convenient for paint grade furniture it’s worth it to fix the few problems and complain about them, then find another source.
