I saw the band between 76 and 78 in Rolling Meadows, IL. Woody had great music that took advantage of the entire band.

Saw his band in concert when I was in Jr. High at Del City High School in OK. Man what a thrill. It was also a jazz band clinic. Nice to see someone as famous as Woody H. taking out time to work with youth. Maybe if we had more of that these days, things wouldn't devolve so fast.

According to Vaughn Wiester, who was playing bass trombone on the gig, here's the personnel: Gary Anderson, Frank Tiberi, Pete Brewer, John Oslawski, saxes; Dale Kirkland, Jim Pugh, Vaughn Wiester, trombones; Bill Byrne, Nelson Hatt, Jeff Davis, Johnny Hoffman, Dennis Dotson, trumpets; Lyle Mays, piano; Kerby Steward, bass; Steve Houghton, drums.

That looks like Pat Coil on piano, not Lyle Mays. Pat Coil took over for Lyle, when Lyle left to join Pat Metheny.

Yes, it's PAT COIL on Piano - confirmed on FB by Pat himself!🎹

Also, it's Lou Fischer on Bass, not Kerby Stewart - per Pianist Pat Coil.

Incorrect as listed above. The rhythm section is: Piano-Pat Coil; Drums-Steve Houghton; Dr. Lou Fischer-bass. This video was recorded in Iowa in 1976 April. My 4th day on the band! The tuxedos were rented for this show only...lol

Tempo is spot on how we played it that evening as well as at pitch. We played many things much faster "live" than you heard/hear on recordings.
