thanks Steve. I watched and pulled all the clutch components out of our '67 MGBGT bought new in Saskatoon. Last driven in 1986 and sitting outside so you can imagine the condition. Got the engine running and have 120 compression but no brake or clutch action. Clutch master out and honed but can't get the piston to retract on the slave. Going to try a grease gun if I can get the right fitting. And haven't tackled the bleed screw. I can just feel it breaking off. May follow your lead and go for new everything. That's what I was thinking, for the cost of how much they sell it, I then know the history of how old all the hydraulics on the clutch are 👍

Steve r u sure the flexi pipe doesn't go in the hole the bleed nipple was in ??? I'm pretty sure I read that they ship the bleed nipples in the wrong hole because of packaging and fitting it in the box.the flex did look a tad tight
@SteveDentonClassics3 жыл бұрын
Someone else did comment with what you've said, and it's something I was unaware of. I just thought, well this is how it's came out the box, this is how it must be. Looking back now, doing it the way you say would make sense, as the bleed nipple would be higher on the slave cylinder. It goes to show, every day is a school day. I will correct this mistake soon 👍

Good Morning Steve. You do make this look deceptively easy ! And l'd bet you'd murder for a 2/4 post lift ! Although the neighbours probably wouldn't be so impressed ! I had to take my good lady to a specialist dental surgery in Ashburton , Devon . I had an hour to kill so went for a walk through the back streets of the town .I thought l was seeing things ! There was indeed someone with not one but two lifts on their property ! Have no idea what the neighbours thought ! You definitely don't want to lower your jack onto your Sebring valance! Hadn't noticed the vibrant yellow rocker cover before ! Cheers !

I'd love a hoist, but it's like anything. It's nice to own but storing it would be the issue. Who knows if my YouTubing really takes off and I get some good sponsorship then maybe I could rent a garage with a hoist 👍

Nicely done. I've just got the transmission out of my Spitfire and the slave cylinder definitely needs attention. I'm going to try a rebuild kit I think

Nice job and a lovely MG. I don’t know if you noticed but the bleed valve comes installed where the hose should go, that’s why there’s that nasty bend in it. I bled mine using an easy bleed so I didn’t have much trouble. It works that way I just prefer the hose coming out the front, but I love what you’ve done to your car, I have a 69 GT also. What’s your opinion on the upright oil filter? Does it take long to register oil pressure, especially in the morning?
@SteveDentonClassics3 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that, I've seem them fitted both ways , but just guessed, that how it came out the box so that's how it should go. However thinking about it what you say makes sense as the bleed nipple will then be higher than the flexi feed hose, making it easier to bleed. Does make you wonder why they are supplied with the bleed nipple in the wrong place. As for upright oil filters, I don't pay too much attention to what is said about them, some will say you're better with one that is underslung as they keep the oil in from start up, this is true. However after many years of working on modern Vauxhalls for a living, that have upright, or upside down oil filters and never having any issues with oil pressure, I'm come to the conclusion what is being said regarding classic cars is nonsense and just a sale pitch. It's like anything, if you didn't have an oil gauge in the car, you wouldn't look at it. And if you warm up a car for a few minutes before driving, then your taking care of your engine and all will be fine 👍
