To me Mary Jane will always, always be No. 1 for Peter, but if she was suddenly not in the picture, and I hope that day never comes, I strongly believe Silver Sable would make the perfect love interest for him. Because whenever I would read a story with them together I would always sense chemistry between them and Sable was the only one that really respected Spider-Man and never once believed anything about him being a menace. She even confessed her love for him during Slott's "Ends of the Earth" story (ASM #685), but because he wanted to get back together with Mary Jane, he couldn't accept her confession. and although she was rejected, she was happy for him, you could still see she still loved him and would do anything for him. at least I did get something in a What IF (v2 #21), at the end of the issue after losing both Mary Jane and Black Cat, Peter and Silver Sable began a romantic relationship, which ended with Peter proposing and Sable accepting.
