Welcome to Season 2 of Lost in Roshar! All 6 backgrounds will run from here on out, I just wanted to highlight Szeth, Adolin and Eshonai for this first episode. Which one of our new artworks is your favourite?
@Rhedak6 ай бұрын
it's hard to pick a favorite but I guess I'd go with Adolin
@SpangleyJuggler6 ай бұрын
Eshonai for the background. But I am pretty sure the reason the Heralds are going crazy is because of the degradation of the Oathpact. If i remember correctly Ishar explains it near the end of Rhythm of War.

Guys - the new art is INCREDIBLE. The Eshonai visual - I audibly gasped when the sky changed. Freaking love it! And the red glow?! Brilliant. You’ve outdone yourselves. Thank you for keeping it interesting over here on YT - love you guys and appreciate all you do!

Thanks so much! I had the exact same reaction when I saw the Eshonai visual for the first time too!

Just to clarify: Gavilar does wear his shard plate. The decoy is Sadeas wearing the king's robes and Gavilar stays back posing as his own bodyguard.

Its not his plate, it is Sadeas', but yes otherwise you are correct.

I’ve heard lots of Lirin theories, but comparing him to Sazed as this “hidden-at-first-but-obvious-in-hindsight” candidate for a Shard does feel pretty convincing… plus, Sanderson said he didn’t want the main character to be a holy descendant, but if Lirin doesn’t become Honor until well-after Kaladin is born, it would fall in line with Sando’s statement!
@Rhedak6 ай бұрын
Maybe the Event of Prologue 6 to 10 could be Honor's Shattering and the events surrounding it. The Heralds were probably involved somehow so they could still be the perspectives.

Jasnah being put into the dark room aligns with what we see from the Ardents and how they treat those who are “mad” in both Words of Radiance (Taln) and also Rhythm of War (Kaladin treating those with PTSD and conflicting with the Ardents) I think Jasnah might have started seeing the shadows going the wrong way or some other funny Shadesmar stuff as a kid, told people who couldn’t see it (see Sadeas walking through it here in the prologue without noticing) and people threw her into the Ardents “madhouse” treatments
@Gropylol6 ай бұрын
It would also make sense why Elhokar never told anyone of seeing Spren, he didn't want the same treatment as Jasnah.

The Lirin theory went so hard I had no choice but to look up when he "said a bondsmith ideal." RoW Ch 43 pg 681 "I can and will!” Lirin shouted, standing up. “Because I will take responsibility for what I’ve done! I will work within whatever confines I must in order to protect people! I have taken oaths not to harm!” This was in response to Kal killing a Regal in his infirmary. I'm a believer now that I've seen it myself

That is just ridiculous, I'm sold.

Jasnah has had stuff go down in her past that will definitely not be put to page until book 10.

This was one of the most funny most intriguing episodes in a long time. Love you guys! Getting on your knees thanking Bezos for reading lights & the beeping a little later had me giggling for minutes. I'm in the office so I can't be to obvious but holy shit you guys have great chemistry

After listening to the prologue again, specific to the Jasnah/Ivory/Shadesmar, my thoughts were that she unknowingly was using the Stormlight from the hallway lights, took that investiture and imposed her will/thoughts on the spheres to create a recreation of the Taln statue. My simple reasoning behind that is that Shadesmar is the cognitive realm, and so with her being invested, or using investiture, she can somewhat force things to do what she wants them to. She needed a guard/protector, she remembered the statute and recreated it. I think this is valid because Ivory salutes her, in my opinion, as in "job well done". Thanks guys, love the pod!

Ok, I'm now convinced the fifth oath is "you can't kill to protect." It just ties too neatly with Kaladin's upbringing with Lirin, and I'm just thinking back to early wor when Kal was talking with syl about how he doesn't know who's side he should be on, he killed all those parshendi and that seems wrong. Why should he protect some over others? And all the oaths seem to be going this direction. I will protect, obviously. I will protect those I hate, so long as it is right. Ok, so protect everyone, great, no discriminating. I accept there are those I can't protect, this ideal must have a purpose. Why is the fourth ideal to accept failiar? ik it's not failiar, but like doesn't it make more sense for it to be something more like "I will do whatever it is to protetctc, even to sacrifice myself"? Unless this is leading up to the fifth oath, ultimately windrunners do not kill anyone, because that comepletely goes against protecting. And that is why basically no one get's to it, because windrunners are soldiers, and swearing not to kill is giving up so much. You gain power only for you not to be able to use it in a sense because you can't hurt others. (I think fused would be an exception since they don't really die.) Lirin really did teach kal all the oaths, and from the start his biggest ideal was not to kill. "We save lives, we don't take lives." It's too perfect, the final oath is definetly not to kill. I'm sold.

Lyrin as Honor blew my mind 🤯 not to many theories get me but this is to perfect .. good one Jimmy !
@juanperret70446 ай бұрын
I also think that Lirin is the epitome of Honor however, I don't think that Honor is gonna exist as it has been going forward. I genuinely believe the 5th windrunner ideal is simply "do no harm"

Great podcast! I laughed like crazy in the part with the reading light. I have some thoughts : 1. The beads in Shadesmare are because of the gemhearts on Roshar. 2. Why the other Inkspren near Ivory? We know that the Inkspren hate humans for the recreance and Ivory is the only one that bonded humans.

Stormfather these are underrated! So happy to be back in Roshar theorizing I just read the prologue and started going crazy on how Jasnah was able to do what she did and why she was pulled into Shadesmar. Has to be a test from the inkspren but why?? Great idea of the awakening of the statue that was strange for what we know of soulcasting it doesn't fit..

Lets talk about the real character that will probably leave the stormlight archive by book 5, Nightblood. No way that a God killing sword sticks around on Roshar for much longer. Either Zahel and Azure take the blade back with them (Warbreaker sequel) Or it is lost somehow. I cant envision a Stormlight 6-10 where a nightblood wielding 5 Oaths szeth is around.

Sanderson has said there are Kandra on Roshar. Tearim could be Kandra. Gavilar has been in touch with Thaidakar. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
@tonykuriger5736 ай бұрын
Having re-listened to the SL5 prolonged, I can't see anything in there that disproves the above that can't be explained by misdirection. The big gap between "omg assassin!" to ded is suspicious. I also don't believe that the entity that Gav was talking to was the Stormfather. Has he ever lied or randomly appeared as "shimmers" anywhere else? I think it could actually be a ruse concocted by someone else (Cultivation, Autonomy, Thaidakar, Rayse, Hoid)

Down with Lirin being Honor, but I think there’s no way that is the 5th ideal, I think that would break some lore and probably be unbelievably anticlimactic

I've got a theory. What if Shallan killed her mom on the night of the feast, and let's say her mom is Chanaranach, and that might add to a reason for all of the other heralds being all disoriented because Chanaranach was sent back to Braize or something. The dates in WoR add up...

Totaly not down with the Lirin/honor theory, or that the 5th ideal is to recognize you cant protect by killing. That goes against Kaladins whole arc in RoW
