I really like you, thought I was the only one using wood to kill the micro burr and the trousers to strop. Long underwear is the best one for stropping. ;)

buy the aftermarket leather belts to strop with the compounds, i think you'll love em!
@knifesharpeningnorway4 жыл бұрын
Already have had them. They are very bad quality they dont work. Worksharp recomend the cloth belts instead

Do you prefer using this for sharpen your scandigrind knives. Did my "Sami knife" on my whetstone. It was really hard work since I had to remove a lot of metal (old knife with a lot of damages). Should I buy one of these for these type of jobs. Hæ
@knifesharpeningnorway4 жыл бұрын
Norsk? No i always prefer whetstones thats why i just use them and not this machine anymore. Its very hard to get a flat scandi on this machine it will be convex. Whetstones if you got good ones like shapton glass 220 shapton pro 1000 shapton pro 5000 thoose three stones will be all you need for many years to come mate.

knife sharpening norway Har faktisk alle du nevnte. Synast berre det var mye jobb med samekniven.
@knifesharpeningnorway4 жыл бұрын
@@TrondBakkeFlgstad ja skader tar gjerne litt tid. Men shapton glass 220 er temmelig rask men skal man såklart fjerne 1-2mm chips tar det litt tid der er ken onion sitt slipe anlegg veldig kjapt.

Is this a good tool for knife thinning? What about overheating? Is it possible to dip the knives in water during sharpening
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
Yes it can easily thin a blade. Overheating can happen i havent done it yet but i am careful and check and change the belts before they are completely spent up. This machine isnt waterproof so if you dip it then wipe it yes no problem

Can you do a video where you sharpen a folding knife on the back platen to create non-convex bevels? Thanks!
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
I can do my Victorinox tomorow i think. But the back platen isnt very good on the blade grinding attachment its awkard and vibrates a lot but i will try my best mate. Thanks for watching and commenting and please subscribe if you havent
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
Hello will film and upload it today mate
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
Just tried it and ruined my Victorinox so the back platen is far from flat or i messed up one of thoose two. Im just gonna use stones in the future and not machines i think hehe
@jmacie6 жыл бұрын
When you run your knife up and down on the wood board, on your left, in between each different grind, what exactly does that do? Thanks
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
jmacie good eye you got mate. Im knocking of the burr from the edge that forms an apex it creates a wire edge all im doing is knocking that wire off. Thanks for watching and if you want please subscribe ☺️

All your blades sharpened on it are convex?
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
No: Six yes si when i sharpen on top like i do here they are convex yes. If i sharpen on the back it has a section where you can make them flat
@uncleiroh28444 жыл бұрын
you should by the super strop belt to Finnish the blades
@knifesharpeningnorway4 жыл бұрын
Have two stropman strops that are plenty good
@knifesharpeningnorway4 жыл бұрын
Also have tried their leather belts they where useless. I have there cloth belts that are good. Now i only sharpen freehand so dont use this machine anymore
@Mate2Frio6 жыл бұрын
Do I see that you're putting a 10 degree bevel on it? That's more for kitchen knives..
@knifesharpeningnorway6 жыл бұрын
Mate2Frio nope the machine is sett for 10 degrees when im holding the blade flat. But im freehanding and tilting the blade to increase the angle its about a 15-20 angle mate thanks for watching 😊
@ViktorKitov5 жыл бұрын
@@knifesharpeningnorway They should have just put a 0 degree option. I was considering this attachment, but that stopped me from getting it. Funnily enough the original Ken Onion can be rotated and offers a flat sharpening surface.
@knifesharpeningnorway5 жыл бұрын
@@ViktorKitov this also has a side you can sharpen flat on. But its a little thin and wobbly on that side.

10 degrees, that knife will chip if you look at it. Even sushi knives are 15 degree. You made a giant razor blade for shaving.

Had no chipping problem at all the final edge is more around 15 ish

All my kitchen knives is at 10-12 ish a yanagiba is flat chisel ground with a hollow urasuki on the backside so a whole different beast 😉 I know what im doing with my blades mate
@jasonburns9565 жыл бұрын
Allen Maestas if you look he’s not using the the flat reference point plus it’s a convex. It’s not at 10 degrees
