The Worksharp Blade Grinding Attachment has a 4.6 star review on Amazon for a reason. It has 5 professional grade belts for sharpening and stropping your knives and it spins at a speed that won't heat up and damage your blade. You simply dial in the angle that you want to sharpen and move the blade across at a 1 inch per second pace. I've found that I can sharpen and maintain most of my knives in about 3 minutes, which is very fast. The results in the video speak for how well this works. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll put a link to the knife sharpeners below, so you can see the ratings and specifications.

I've had mine Ken Onion for two years now, never a dull knife. And yes I tell the wife when sharpen. You can buy non-onion belts online and they work perfect. Mine had a trigger lock for speed. Always start with course then go up in grit, you have to built that 25 degree angle first..

I have been sharpening knives for 50 years with stones. I even have over6 stones from 320 to 15000 grit. But this attachment has cut my time to sharpen drastically. Keeping a constant angle was a problem with stones. Not so with the grinder plus you can see the bur form. Outstanding product!!!!

I’ve gotten the sharpest edges ever with the grinder attachment. Just make sure to remove the burr fully by checking with a flashlight. If you don’t have a strop I’d consider getting one. If you have any questions I’d be honored to help. I’ll say a prayer that you can continue to recover from your stroke. God bless you. Have a great day and happy Easter.

When you start to sharpen your knives with a course belt, use high speed to get the edge profile. As you progress to the fine or stropping belt use a progressively slower speed as per instructions. I've owned the same sharpening kit like yours for about 4 years now with hundreds of knives sharpened to razor sharpness. Love doing the high end knives as they'll get scary sharp. Enjoy!

I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

Great video! thanks. I've started sharpening kitchen knives in my town as a little business, using the KE Worksharp. I'm wondering if this attachment is a means to get a flat grind? My understanding is that the slack without the attachment is what gives it a convex grind, whereas this attachment allows you to get a flat grind? Any input is appreciated. Thanks again!
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 4 жыл бұрын
I think no mater what with the belt system, you're going to get a convex grind, which works well for me. The more slack, the more convex. I'm not an expert, but I think the flat grind comes from a stone sharpening or something similar.
@SouthernKnifeLife
@SouthernKnifeLife 4 жыл бұрын
using the guides will severely convex the grind, with the grinding attachment you can kinda control how much convex by how much pressure you put on the belt, you can even move one of the black rollers closer to the other to get a even more flat grind with less convexand they sell stiff belts for this thing that will give an almost completely flat grind but with a belt system its still a tad convex on the edge

@@davidlingelbach9887 In my experience it definitely was. Within 3 orders I had covered the cost of the sharpener, and I had also learned a new skill/hobby. It should be especially easy if you live in a smaller town where nobody is really offering this service. Flea markets and farmer's markets are probably a good idea - I moved states before pulling the trigger on the farmer's market in my hometown. Part of the reason I started the business was to practice my marketing skills. Do you need to sharpen scissors?? If yes then the original is better suited....can be done on the ko but more freehand. For me the ko is more versatile....angle range from 15-30 degrees...with original your limited to 20 and 25 degrees unless you freehand it without the guides. If you have interest in possibly getting the blade grinding attachment at a later point, I would suggest to buy the ko edition...because the attachment will not fit on the original. Just food for thought

Good for specialty blades but I don't think it's a big upgrade from the base unit for most blades. Also, the motor on the base unit seems to be intermittent duty rated so you need to be fast as it will shorten the life of the motor leaving run. I have a couple friends whose unit died prematurely using this attachment exclusively.

@Nilly Sigger I understand your point of view and have cut myself with a sharp knife a few times too. My example is if you know the knife is sharp and handle it carefully, then it should slice through food, fruit, or whatever with control all the way through. I recall trying to cut a lime into wedges with a dull knife. That's where it gets dangerous, because you're pushing with a lot of force on a small item with a knife and it can slip off from what you're intending to cut.

A sharp knife only faults the user. But a dull knife can fault anyone, that's why a dull blade is more dangerous. You can't rely on a dull knife to be consistent. If you cut yourself with a sharp knife, it's because you messed up.

It seems like you could mess up the angle from the time you rest the knife on the ledge till you bring it up to the belt. It's a shame the angle edge is not closer to the top of the belt.
