Time to acquire data with the L1 depends on flying height, speed and overlap (no different to photogrammetry). What are some specifications for these three key parameters with the L1 in areas that focus on vegetation acquisition (efficiency with reasonable canopy detection over absolute accuracy): 50m or 100m? 10 m/s or 5 m/s? 50% or 20% overlap?

You have done a great job of explaining the difference between photogrammetry and LiDAR workflows along with their pros and cons. We are excited about the L1 due to its very low cost and specs on paper. But i have so far seen a test that didn't turn out so well when compared to current 150k LiDAR drones with fuzz, aka plus and minus points taken at the same point. I am also puzzled that there is no description on using the RBG camera to do photogrammetry without having to use the LiDAR. It must be able to capture images to use for photogrammetry since it has a mechanical shutter which is not used for adding colorized point clouds. It would use the cameras electronic shutter to colour the point cloud. I am hoping to see you get your hands on it for testing asap as we are about to make the purchase to help with the surveying and inspecting power lines....the lidar can see the power lines much easier than photogrammetry!

Thanks for the comment! The L1 is fully capable of producing a photogrammetry model. In fact, we prefer to produce a photogrammetry AND LiDAR model and use the best of both worlds in processing. You might find our L1 review informative - www.aerotas.com/blog/dji-l1-lidar-review

Thanks heaps for your sharing! For a 30skm mining survey to identify outcrops from black color manganese ore at 30-50cm dimensions. Do you suggest P1 or L1 for the work? Or manned plane is good enough to get 5-10cm / pixel high resolution photos? Another issue is the terrain follow function as the outcrop is somewhere 100m elevation difference. Do we need to use Terrain follow for the task which means L1 might not be applicable for terrain follow function? Really appreciate your thoughts. Billion Thanks!

Great presentation! Can you clean up the footage from those damn questions? They are really basic distracting and really annoying and hard to skip as the video quite long. Or put them at the end of the presentation

Oh man, I am so tired of so called photogrammetry experts posting these videos and making ill-informed conclusions about lidar but especially... ESPECIALLY photogrammetry and this explosion of misinformation has come from the advent of 'consumer' drone users setting up operations. I can't even be bothered repeating things I have stated on other channels, other than to say in this video you seem to represent Pix4D as the high end of aerial photogrammetric mapping. It isn't! Top tier professional/enterprise aerial photogrammetry is utlising vastly more powerful and functional software and hardware, with single seat photogrammetry suite licences costing in the order of $100k or more with thousands a month on software maintenance contracts on top. Your comments on lidar and photogrammetry workflow is nonsense also, it may be how you do it but it's poor. Your statements on "linework drafting"... It would be faster to say what you got right, uhhh, spelling! Photogrammetry and Lidar data sets too big for CAD? Utter nonsense! "Latest and greatest in photogrammetry sensors" Are you having a laugh? For the love of Gandalf, please stipulate you are defining to the best of YOUR knowledge, a workflow and capability/performance specific only to the systems and skillsets YOU and YOUR TEAM have, because this presentation in no way represents the scope of top-tier photogrammetry (of which in itself there are multiple types).

Hey mate. That's quite an interesting comment to read. I'm starting out in this field and was curious as to what software's would you consider appropriate for accurate mapping? Let's say bit more functional than pix4d. I'm asking purely out of curiosity.

@@shirshakadhikari4333 dont listen to this guy. its just a hater. sure, maybe there are better systems out there but not at all adapted to "start out in this field". And this is youtube, @guy rennie, what did you expect? in depth reviews on 100k+ software and hardware? but i agree on the fact that Pix4D is not good software. its expensive for what it is. Metashape is half the price and gives you much more control. not as user friendly as pix4D but way better in my opinion
