Meghan Livingstone I’m on disability so I’m always home. I go on walks which is essential for my mental health

Meghan Livingstone I have worked from home for years, a few key things for me to avoid distraction myself include, prepping breakfast the night before (overnight oats), turning off new email notifications on outlook so I’m not tempted to stop what I’m doing and read each new email, using video for important meetings to be sure I’m ‘present’ and don’t zone out (!) and making sure desk is clean as I finish for the day. I could go on!! Love the channel, thanks always for the great content. ✨💫💖🇬🇧

As said dress code is a must for me as I feel good in them, also plays music not with vocals as they tempt me to sing along. This is to avoid the lonely and silent feel

I make a little to do list the night before! It gives me little accomplishments to look forward to each day, and I don't accidentally overwhelm myself cause I write it in the evening when I'm a little sleepy. It helps me have realistic expectations of myself!

I’ve been working from home for the past 6 months and yes one of my biggest tips is to take breaks especially lunch breaks and step away from work and enjoy your break. It’s hard but it’s super important for your mental health. I also turn off notifications for most of the day that way my emails can only be accessed on my computer and not distracting me on my phone when I’m away from my computer. Helps separate work and personal life.

This is the video that first drew me to your channel, and now it's my favorite! I started working from home due to the COVID-19 outbreak in early March, and I am scheduled to stay working from home until October of this year...I wish I could make it permanent! I've started incorporating many of your tips and they have really helped. The only one I still struggle with (as many of my coworkers do) is actually getting dressed for the day! I tend to just get up and start working, instead of making time for my normal morning routine. My goal this month is to re-establish my morning routine. I think it will really help to make me feel much more productive. Thank you, Meghan!

Thank you for such great ideas and reminders, Meghan. I really like the appearance of your Evernote setup--the clean, white page, the checklist with a bulleted list beneath it, and the calendar. Would you ever do a How I Use Evernote or Evernote Basics video? I've found Evernote's own tutorials really complicated and more intended for people who will use it in groups. My use would look more like yours, I think; just for me and not more complicated than needed. Thanks for thinking about it, and for the helpful video!

I have extensions on my browser that help keep me focused during work hours. Also, I pay attention to my natural energy levels as to how I plan my day. The afternoons are when I’m the most groggy, so I always plan some kind of movement after lunch. Trying to work through it doesn’t work, but getting outside for 20 minutes help me build up a second wind of energy to work a bit longer.
@meghanlivingstone4 жыл бұрын
Love that, great point. I feel similar in the afternoon too, and getting outside/some movement really helps.

I love this. Most of what you’ve shared, has been apart of my routine. However, I do need to start getting dressed in the morning. Working from home is good for my mental health, but it does mean I need to be cognitively aware of work verses home styles. Thank you!

Yes, definitely! It's easy to fall into the pattern of wanting to do home-things instead of work things.

I'm doing housekeeping at a hotel right now but I do plan on working from home I'm basically going to do the same job my roommate is doing that involves insurance and Medicare. I'm tired of the morning rush late nights and not being appreciated most of the time. This is definitely something I will engage in doing.

I'm still going out to work as a Key Worker here in the UK...this is for 2 or 3 days a week. On other days I'm working from home and loved this and thinking about how to make the most of my time...especially as the kids and my husband are at home working and doing school also. It's such a different way of life but we can all master it with a conscious effort. Stay safe!

Ohhh I really NEEDED this video! Thank you so much! I'm very active at my job (chasing after kids), so teaching online/work meetings and sitting down makes my body feel TERRIBLE. My biggest tip is to just stand up during the meeting and stretch and move around. So far, my boss haven't fired me from looking silly on the screen xD!

I love your videos! And this is especially helpful right now as many people are working from home. I like your tip about making time to eat lunch and take a break. I find myself ignoring those urges to eat just to finish what I’m working on. Ill try to be better about that!

It is very easy to find yourself working non-stop when you’re at home and even extending work up to the late hours of the night. A study has revealed that the average working hours in the U.S. are 3 hours longer since mid-March. Remember that this was not the way you worked at the office; you had moments you would chat with colleagues or take coffee breaks. Optometrist and Founder at Ocushield.
