Whenever I've cut chassis pieces out I've always sprayed phosphoric acid liberally inside the exposed section then rinsed and repeated - helps stop the rust spreading further. Finally once repairs are completed - waxoyl the heck out of it.

Well… These videos are goin to be so informative for future generations… When they goin to ask us… „did you really put a burning liquid into your cars..? And WHY ..?😂“… In a museum tour in the next hundred years or so … I’m guessing… 😅😂😊 Oh in case you wander … I own a Landy too 😂😂😂

Great stuff so far, I would not use sandpaper anywhere near to a vehicle. Get some wet and dry, carborundum paper, many different grades of grit.

Nice welding, will you be waxoiling the chassis at some point?
@retromechanic2238Күн бұрын
Great question! I am hoping to treat the whole underside in a future episode 😃 I just have a little bit more welding to do at the front first. Thank you for watching & commenting! 😁

Please, please do not use a grinder without the guard on it, and if you budget allows get yourself a grinding face shield, I have been in fabrication and construction for 40 + years and have seen some horrendous injuries caused by grinders

@@gentlesoul1513 sound advice. I have goggles but I respect the disks do shatter; usually it’s down to too much pressure or wrong disk for the wrong metal (like steel disks for Ali) but thank you for your concerns

The free KZbin music is a bit of a distraction. No need imo.
@retromechanic2238Күн бұрын
@@highdownmartin really good feedback! It’s a challenging one to edit, foster engagement with high level insights & introduce energy through music but also deep dive into parts of the process without loosing peoples focus. Trying to strike that balance but appreciate having music isn’t for everyone but vice versa no music isn’t for everyone. Regardless thanks for watching & feeding back 😃

@ you can add it but I can’t take it away! Glad you cleaned the pump body. In future any inj pump fuel stuff scrupulous cleanliness is essential. Injector nozzles and pump clearances are tiny and you. Do. Not. Want. Any sand or carborundum getting inside. Diesels are shitbound oily lumps but inside they need to be cleaner than an operating theatre.
