Mechanical is always better in my book also. It is something that I can work on, lol. I would like to get the electric row clutches for my planter but you can't find them right now. Thanks for the update.

Yeah i like to see whats broke instead of guess lol. I got mine from yield technology services in missouri. He advertises alot on facebook and has a warehouse full of used take-off parts. Took awhile to get everything lined up but hes got about everything

Switched my 1760 to all precision this year, went vdrive, delta force, wave vision and Keaton low stick firmers…. A couple smart firmers and cleansweep rowcleaners for next year and I’ll have it where I want it
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm2 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering how the low stick firmers do through the season. I've used the typical ones and get the mud caked like wings on the firmers outside, I think they ride out of the trench. I had mojo wires on last year, but I still think the caking was a problem. It only takes one low wet spot here and voila!

Looks like your project is coming along nicely. I definitely agree with simple. What are you running for seed meters/vacuum plates? We’re just running standard equipment. When we bought ours we could go with Deere’s precision plates and double eliminator, but we didn’t go that route bc at the time we were also planting red kidney beans. We quit growing red kidney beans so now I’m considering changing it over? Although I will say we are getting really nice stands. My father plants and as painstaking as it is, he plants on the slow side, but I think it really helps with the stands.
@iafarmer2 жыл бұрын
Ive got precision esets for corn and just the regular deere for soybeans. Yeah slow and steady is the best way to plant, im hoping with this planter i will be able to get good spacing and singulation with any seed size. My old planter struggled some with small seed
@EDBZ282 жыл бұрын
@@iafarmer I’ll be curious to see how you like them. Are the precision e sets hard to set up? Why I didn’t like the deere ones is it looked complicated taking that double eliminator knock out in and out when it came time to plant dry beans. Our planter is a vacuum and it’s finicky on the type of seed it likes...tends to like rounds. The monitor jumps all around more frequently with flats.
@iafarmer2 жыл бұрын
@@EDBZ28 i think changing from corn to beans with the esets is a little more work, but thats why i got 2 sets of boxes and meters to simplify and speed up switching. I have another set of meters with the promax setup but the more ive messed with them, the more im glad i got the esets

I'm following this build. I think my next planter will be a 7200 or 1750 6rn. Depending on the condition, might to brand new row units, then hyrdraulic downforce and 20/20. Staying with manual row cleaners and closing and probably finger pickup. I have a lot of soil conditions that go from soft to hard and some too wet so it is getting impossible to have a pressure setting to match all of them.
@iafarmer2 жыл бұрын
I talked to a guy that had airforce and then deltaforce and he swore by the deltaforce (hydraulic). Those little things add up quick at 6-7 dollar corn. Im honestly wish this was finger pickup but hope i get a little better singulation if this is set right

@@iafarmer Wonder what your experience with the springs were this year. I'm deciding either between a spring like yours at about 250/row new, or a macgyver airbag setup similar to some youtube channels. Probably the same cost/row. i like the spring simplicity and probably won't need to adjust a lot as our soil is consistent and mostly no till. I don't have any way to monitor the downpressure like you do, hence the question. Thanks.
@iafarmer Жыл бұрын
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm i think youd like the springs. They are easy to adjust if you need to. If i had the choice id still go with the springs just to keep it simple. I got mine used for $50.00 per row from yieldtechnologyservice.com
@onehappyfarmer34612 жыл бұрын
That should be better than new once you get it finished. I like simple too. I’m not interested in all the new fancy dancy complicated crap. I been doing just fine keeping it simple and I’m gonna keep on doing it that way.

Hopefully it pays for itself. The shutoffs should save me seed and time of not having to stop on the ends so long as they work.. Hard to beat simple, it just plain works.

How long did it take you to install the HD Down Pressure Spring per row? And how much did they cost? Was thinking about upgrading my 1760 as well. The light duty springs on the side, don't do too good in no-till conditions it seems. Always enjoy the vids!
@iafarmer2 жыл бұрын
Went pretty quick, just held on by 3 bolts is all. I got them used for 40 a piece. Can usually find them on the internet pretty cheap from people taking them off to put precision stuff on. Yeah i wanted to be able to adjust for the times i do notill.
@AgWildNebraska2 жыл бұрын
That's going to be pretty nice when your finished. One thing I wish mine had was row shut offs or at least half width disconnect. Does the new transmission have the same population combinations as the old one same gears?
@iafarmer2 жыл бұрын
Im hoping it all works and will be nice not to have to stop on the ends. Yeah the transmission is the same, he threw it in on the deal so figured its newer just as well use it

Is having enough current to run the drives a concern or is your alternator sufficient? Keep it simple as you can imo. Thx
@iafarmer2 жыл бұрын
From what ive read each clutch takes .5 amps when engaged (shutoff) so about 2 volts (from what ive read) when they are all engaged. There is a lift switch that disengages them when the planter is up so shouldn't be a big deal. Yes i like things really simple
