so refreshing to see a skilled artist review one of these things. i's such a pet peeve when i see a review with someone going, i can make a stickman so it does photoshop XD. i used to swear by lenovo thinkpads back in the day as they were strong and reliable but the quality has since gone down. i was looking for a good mobile replacement and this may just be it. thank you for a well done review, and your art is wonderful!
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
YES! I used to use a thinkpads back in the day as well, it was a lifesaver to me cause I couldn't afford anything else. It's insane how much art I managed to create on photoshop with like 1g of ram lmao, but it definitely went downhill and one of my biggest issues was that the screen size was so small. This is definitely an improved version! The only thing that's odd is that there seem to be no pen controls. I think it's an issue of windows trying to simplify things, and I haven't really had the need to adjust anything but.. still it would be nice to have the option to recalibrate or adjust the sensitivity hmm.

This was so insanely helpful. I used Wacom tablets in the past, switched to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 a few years ago, but it's just too heavy and a little laggy now. I was debating the iPad Pro, but iffy because of the limited software too. I'm a Samsung user and this laptop caught my eye, but I was struggling to find artists share their thoughts (your style and approach is very similar to mine!) love this!

A very great review of this laptop! It was very useful to hear how you used to use the iPad Pro. You had similar limitations that I'm getting with it, most especially the screen size. Your review also showed how you actually use the device to draw, something that's frequently not available in other device reviews - thanks for that! I've been thinking about getting this laptop so I can draw out and about but I'm concerned about how thin the screen is. Do you have any concerns about its fragility when you draw on it? I've seen people online talk about how their 360's screen broke after some use but I don't know if they are just anomalies.
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
hmm.. it is VERY thin but doesn't feel flimsy to me. And typically when I draw on it, I do fold it backwards into tablet mode so the screen isn't just hovering by itself. I also typically support it with my other hand, or put it on a folded up scarf or smthn to create an angle. I feel like breaking the screen would take some effort hahaha

You're inspiring and living the dream. For many years I've been drawing on the go, on my Samsung Note 8, and then transfer the files on my PC for the final export. I work as a 2D Game Artist, and even did frame animations directly on the phone when traveling / moving around. But it always felt a bit suffocating on the smaller screen. I didn't even know this existed until 10 mins ago. This is the perfect upgrade imo, + Windows OS & Photoshop... I'm really considering it now. uwu I'm wondering if the pen slides directly into the laptop for storage like the Note, & if the keyboard being prone to accidental button presses when folded is an issue at all. It would be nice to get some sort of cover / panel for folded use.

I haven't tried them - I'm sure it's amazing, but the equivalent (mobile studio 16) is extremely expensive. What is your expirience with paperlike screen protectors on ipad? that usually wear off the nibs pretty quickly? are they worth the money for addiitonal screen protection from scratches and the feeling, or are they too difficult to put on withotu bubbles and not worth the money for new nibs and the screen protector itself?
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
I bought a pack of 2 from amazon, they were pretty inexpensive.. not the 'paperlike' brand, but worked really well. I didn't have any issues putting it on without bubbles, but it did wear out the nibs VERY fast. like... within a few hours. I didn't end up using the ipad to draw much anyway, but I think the texture is just too rough. I find the optimal combo for me to be cintiq pro + the grey wacom tip, it's less slippery on the screen and works best for me. For this specific laptop, it's the same discomfort of the screen just being too slippery... so when i put my leftover ipad paper textured screen protector on it, it was PERFECT in terms of the feel, but does kinda wear out the nib as well... I already looked into getting replacements, and it's not too bad but it would be nice if there was just a slightly less textured screen protector out there =_=

While both are great for Clip Studio the Notebook 9 Pro 15 doesn't have a Pen Pressure adjustment option in it's settings which make the pressure blown out in Photoshop. At least Clip Studio has a pressure adjustment setting baked into the app that I can use. I will say that battery life in both are great compared to other Windows devices so it's no surprise here that the Galaxy Book Pro 360 continues that trend.

Otherwise, if you just press and hold the pen tip in one place it registers as a right click and the menu or whatever options you're looking to pull up appear.

@@CosmicSpectrumArt Thanks a lot for your reply. Love your videos. Have a good day. Got the 15.6 model with the same keyboard you had. It works perfectly. But i got Wacom one pen which is only one that is build same inside as the Spen. And it works fantastic with the matt screen protector. Its perfect as pen, the cursor is same accuracy as the Spen.

@@amt6307 Oh!! I didn't know you can use a wacom one pen with the Galaxy book! that's super helpful, I have one and I will try it :D Thanks for the tip!
@amt63072 жыл бұрын
@@CosmicSpectrumArt Yeah, wacom one the screen tablet. Dont know about the non screen one. Its perfect, better than the spen, more comfortable. Keep in mind the right or left handed option , cause this option fix the accuracy of the cursor. The tip feel a bit plastic on plastic but you can always take felt nibs. The wacom one is this one CP91300B2Z . Half white half black.

Hi there, I'm going to study photography and as a Samsung phones/Note user I'm really interested in the GB pro 360 (i7 16gm RAM 1tb memory) to run Photoshop, lightroom , illustrator and maybe premier pro and after effects to edit some videos in the future, I would like to know your opinion . Btw great review and details! Thank you

I'll have to keep this one in mind for the future! It's so great to hear about alternatives to the iPad, especially for those of us who don't vibe with Procreate...((expensive disappointment x_x) Doing underdrawings and lining just isn't the same as Photoshop, and I usually end up redrawing them in PS for that reason. D: Ty for the vid, and those sketches are beautiful! c:
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
Ahh yesss!! I think procreate is okay, and I like a lot of things about it but I just always want to go back to Photoshop anyway. And tbh even the biggest ipad screen is just still too small for me, I also never want to draw on it for that reason. If it's just doodling I'd rather use a sketchbook; if it's serious work or finished/polished illustrations.. why waste time - photoshop is better hahah.

How does this compare to a cintiq? Considering getting one of these because I found out it is compatible with the Wacom One stylus.
@CosmicSpectrumArt2 жыл бұрын
It's great! This is a full laptop so it's hard to compare to a cintiq, just a totally different thing (mobile, all in one). I love the cintiq for it's large screen, otherwise the pressure sensitivity etc feels the same to me.

Just wondering, does support the shortcut functions like two finger tap for undo when its in tablet mode? If it doesnt, how do you use your shortcuts or do you not use them? Im kinda interested in buying this!
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
It does not! The finger functions are programmed into apps designed for a tablet, whereas this is regular photoshop. I just got a small external keyboard for shortcuts :)

i gotta ask a big question...i know this laptop is geared towards artist/work people but i gotta ask....how is it with intense gaming? im in the market for a new laptop and im an artist and a writer so i love on the go stuff esp. because atm i bounce from my bfs house and a harsh home life...can it manage heavy gaming? im talking genshin impact, valorant, overwatch, fps games, graphic intensive, etc? btw, this review is beautiful and i love your explainations of everything!
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure! I play LoL on PC. Maybe i can try downloading it on the laptop to see how it holds up, but then i'd have to buy a mouse for it... haha. The specs suggest it would probably be able to handle it? though i don't know too much about these things so I can't be too sure. Glad you liked the review though ;)))
@simonhourani52282 жыл бұрын
This laptop isn't for heavy gaming since it doesn't have a dedicated GPU (it has the intel iris Xe integrated graphics) although you can do some light gaming on half/low resolution but not every game will run smoothly

This is a great review! I've been considering upgrading my old ipad pro recently and this has given me a lot to think about. Kind of a random question, but is it weird to not use keyboard shortcuts when drawing in photoshop? I notice that when drawing on the tablet the keyboard isn't really accessible? Really enjoyed watching this and of course loved seeing your art as usual!💖
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
yes it's definitely something I want to look into after using it for a few weeks. I am pretty reliant on shortcuts, so I'm thinking of getting a small external keyboard.... I've done that before when I used to work exclusively on a lenovo thinkpad way back in the day haha, it also transformed into tablet mode etc but was WAY bulkier and had a tiny screen. Actually the ipad pro screen is too small for me as well haha... anyway yeah, the shortcuts are definitely being missed. Glad to hear you enjoyed watching the video! xD

I have a little problem, when I'm inking my drawing, I'm using my feather pen, the duration of the line is not lasting as long as you you, I have to refill more often in the inkwell, could it be because the feather are new, or I'm using Water color, or I'm training on poor quality paper or something else ? I found it strange as the feather are made for drawing. Any idea ?
@Phen0o3 жыл бұрын
humm, I might have an answer, I read that new feather have a tiny protective layer that you have to clean
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm.. what kind of nib is it? Different nibs behave differently, so it could just have less ink capacity or you need to clean it? Paper shouldn't make a huge difference. I use the G-nib, it holds a fair amount of ink (although having to dip frequently just comes with this medium..)
@Phen0o3 жыл бұрын
@@CosmicSpectrumArt , so nib and not feather, sorry I'm french^^ First I cleanup the new nib from this sort of "protective thin layer" as they were completely new, then I used a quality paper, the difference is huge, now I can sustain long line, thanks for your answer, you're the best ;) I'm using a Leonardt CR33 soft and a Leonardt CR40 half hard. PS: I forgot to say, by watching most of your video, you gave me the desire to get back in drawing ;)

Do they provide extra nibs for the pen stylus?
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
I didn't see any in the package... unless i missed them somehow, I don't think so? (Lol i remember I had no idea for yearss that there were extra nibs for wacom tablets hidden in the little pen stands hahaha). Easy to find on amazon though.
@gullyexplores3 жыл бұрын
This is my one quam with Samsung, they don't sell spares nibs. If you read through the advertisements they're convinced that the newly engineered soft tip pen nib would last forever.... They're clearly not considering how much artists use the pen. I broke mine within 8 months (Samsung Galaxy pro s7+) when I messaged them about it they said that their warranty doesn't cover physical damage and I would need to buy the pen tips myself. The pen was very new at that point and I argued that you cannot buy the samsung soft tip pen anywhere, you can only buy third party hard plastic ones (which I've read can damage screen protectors) eventually I convince them my tablet didn't come with any spare nibs and they said it should have done and sent me some. But to this day you cannot buy licensed Samsung pen tips and that just blows my mind. I've since read a review that the Noris Digital Replacement Nibs for the STAEDTLER pen is very similar and a good replacement, that wasn't available at the time my nib cracked, but that's what I will be buying next time.
