Not to long for me because you can go at a nice clear pace which especially in this instance has helped me fully understand for the first time layers and methods of use. Your teaching style is perfect, mostly because it's not at break neck speed. I often thought can a video be longer so I'm not forever rewinding because of going to fast. Thanks Anthony, for this video really enjoyed it and gained a lot of info from it. That's confused me.
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lloyd. Good question. It's a while ago I made this vid so I'm not 100% sure. I do know that I was specifically trying to demo the layer features so may have stamped the layer rather for demonstration purposes rather than being practically useful.... Cheers for posing the question.

Curious why you created an adjustment layer and then painted it to only keep the grass instead of just using the mask option available on the individual edit functions?
@AnthonyTurnham4 жыл бұрын
Yep totally, I could've done it that way too, but I just wanted to demonstrate the adjustment layer as a feature and how you can use it. I also like separating elements of an edit onto different layers for organisational purposes too. Cheers for the comment.
@moveablefeasttv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this, Anthony. At about 20:25 you mention pressing plus in the layers tab to find the option "stamped image". I've gone over it again and again and looked on my version of Luminar (Neo) and there is no plus sign. I'm wondering if you know how to create a stamped image as a compilation of all layers in that version? I've looked at the manual and other resources with no success so far.
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
Ah, unfortunately Neo is still waiting for this feature. 😕 So annoying that it was there in Luminar 4 but not Neo (yet).
@moveablefeasttv Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyTurnham Thanks for clearing this up. I'd still be looking for that dang plus sign. It really is baffling when features are omitted in new iterations, but hopefully there are others who mention this to the Skylum folks and they'll rectify things.

Wonderful tutorials. Is it possible to go back to the previous layers in Luminar 4 to correct something and have that correction reflected in the layers on the top? Thank you.
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's one of the benefits of layers. The only time it won't show is if you make a stamped layer on top of the stack hiding those layers beneath.

Thanks for the great video. Can you do this same mask layering in Luminar AI? I would like to layer group photos to have everyone looking at the camera.
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm.... goood question. In short, not as easily as L4. If that's what you're after doing then Luminar 4 would be a better option (you can use ATSKY10 for a discount). This bit of tough love advice may not be what you want to hear, but going forawrd I'd be doing everything I could to nail it in one shot in camera - even if you have to take 5-10 shots to nail it. It's still quicker than fixing it up in post production. 😀

@@AnthonyTurnham thank you. Is there a way to speed up on the loading in luminar? I currently have all the pictures internal inside C drive. Every click on each section is another loading time. I am copying and pasting, then exporting without even checking the details or making any adjustments because the program is too slow. I don't think it's my hardware that's slowing it down, since I'm using a brand new ryzen 5800H laptop. Luminar is the only program with this lag. Do you have any suggestions to help this matter?

I prefer the texture blending approach of Luminar AI with the new local brush that lets you paint the textures straight in to a scene (or fully cover if you prefer). The usual blending modes are all there too. I show a little bit about the feature at the end of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ7aoJyijqqUl8k

Do you know if this can be done in LuminarAI?
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Yes - and no. So Luminar AI did away with layers to simplify the workflow and speed up the AI engine as a whole. A tick box on both of those. However, layers have a valid place for more hardcore editors. But there's a way around it in Luminar AI and that's to add the layers you want to add via the texture tool. IE you load the layer as if it were a texture. You can then mask it in, change the blending mode etc. etc. It's a bit of a hack but it works. The only thing that you're currently limited by is the ability to resize and reposition that layer. Nice blue hair by the way. I love it when people rock their own uniqueness!

This is one of the most complex and difficult to understand layers and how to use them to polish-up your photos. Can you simplify your videos in small steps, so you can grow up and you learn the different steps? This is way too much to understand this stuff. I thought Luminar was a lot more intuitive. Not at all, I might say.

You could save the links in bookmarks but I like to create folders and then save by category for future use. View everything you can and then the process becomes easier until an update comes and then the learning begins again or is added too lol.
