@@christinehoffmann8512 I'm glad you are looking out for the comfort of the horses. But Lady is perfectly fine. Shes taken a step back and is not up by her feed box. You're on the wrong page of you're looking for mistreated horses. These horses have a great life. Stepping back in to the alley is not mistreatment by any means. Move on to gaited and dressage horses that wear gear that hurts, feel spurs and flex necks that is not natural and have rules that wont die. Or horses and livestock that are very mistreated on their way to slaughter.

Wow... the steam coming off Ken after the run...! What a great canter... Thanks Jim! And Baron just wanted to eat! If Kenny needs to let off gas, I'd sooner that... than have him encounter the difficulties of colic... I still remember Buck... (still miss him) because horses can have trouble passing gas... The solution of the water drainage via the tiling is a good one... just a matter of time... like every thing else when you live on the land... Blessings to all! ❤

I thought the steam was breath. I don't think they even sweated, way too cold, was a short workout. Had they sweated, Jim would have put their pretty red ruggies on, can't leave a sweaty horse standing about un-rugged, they get pneumonia real easy.

Great to Baron is doing as I zoomed my phone to see what was causing his issue. Jim you are blessed with a great horse vet. Thanks Dad for bringing me to the vet. Ken and Baron had a good trout as did Skippy with a good run. Skippy will sleep good tonight. I see your video with drain lines near the forest. It is not unusual for the groundwater hights on hills to be so high that it reaches above ground. Artesian pressure, i.e. the groundwater pressure is so high in parts of the year, it pushes water up above the ground. Your idea of making a sand/leaf trap is a good idea, but will probably be difficult to maintain. Open drainage ditches near trees are easy to clean, in contrast to drainage pipes and sand/leaf catch wells. You probably already know this, but an open trench along the forest edge, between the grass field and the trees, could be a solution, where leaves, soil compaction and roots can be cleaned. The drainage pipes can be connected to it, possibly with a connection with a catch grid for the foliage. The roots from the trees go for water and moisture and never stop clogging drainage pipes.
