Brenda you are the kindest sweetest person! I started watching this channel because of the horses! But this family is the most amazing. The kind you would love to have as a neighbor. Jim works harder than two people and the way he talks to the horses and keeps Brenda safe shows his kindness too.

I’m just amazed that those horses stood there the whole time while Jim was cutting down that last log. They were pointing right back to camp. And true they had a heavy load behind them, but that never stopped horses before when they want to get back “home”. They are truly amazing. They have such good brains and such good training. I never get sick of watching your horses work with Jim.

Watching Jim use his logging tongs brings back memories from 50 years ago when I was logging in Michigan. I had a set of tongs about that size. They were completely hand forged beautifully crafted. I bought them at an estate auction and they worked wonderfully. After my logging career ended I used them to help neighbors pull stumps and other odd jobs. One day someone “borrowed” them and I have not seen them since. Great video, I’m glad the weather and the new team combination is working out for you all.

Jim, that was brilliant how you backed those logs out of the tight squeeze!👏👏👏 Beautiful work!! Brenda, right about the time you said it looked like Bill dozed off, I noticed it too and thought it was so sweet! Kenny probably was catnapping too except with his black coat it's hard to see his black eyes!! Then Jim parked the horses and their big load while he went a fairly good distance to cut another tree. Those horses didn't move a muscle the whole time!❤ Jim sure knows how to train horses!!! And I know Baron, Duke, and Earl will obey Jim's commands just as good once he's trained them more thoroughly!!! Loved seeing the horses working so good, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery!!

The man is GOOD!! It’s also VERY IMPRESSIVE how Kenny and Bill are workin so good together…. I’m sure they’ve worked together before in the past, but not as full time partners! Now, because of the unfortunate and unexpected passing of Buck and Lady’s pregnancy, they have to be full time partners and Jim being such a good leader to all his horses, that team is doing such a beautiful job!! Jim, it’s a real joy watchin you work your team! I bet their thinkin “ Hey Jim! There’s three more guys just hangin out at the barn ya know! How’s about givin them a little work time!! “ 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

38:22 Brenda had to laugh when you ask if the horses were still there. Could have told them to go up to the landing. Jim I did not see your escape route on the last tree you cut down. That was a very precarious tree to walk around. The tree did flip up in the air and pull forward a lot! The title was very befitting for the work done here. Tell the horses their audience loves them.

Brenda, at the tail end of the video, I heard you refer to the load of logs as a good “jag”!! My Dad would use that word all the time in referring to a load of most anything. One time at the City where I worked, I referred to a load of rock as a Jag! All my coworkers looked at me in puzzlement. Lol, they had no idea what I was talking about!! Thanks first of all for that memory, and secondly for confirming that my Dad wasn’t the only one who uses that term. Great video as always…I love watching the horses!!

Hi Jim and Brenda. I was wondering if I could interest you in making a kind of fun video of Jim telling the horse to careful step toward him from a long distance and then telling them to whoa all while being hitched to a cart or wagon. You know, kind of like he does in the woods from behind them, but do it way way in front of them. I would just love the demonstrations of how well behaved your horses are, how well trained they are, how wonderful a horseman/trainer Jim is, and just make it a day of fun hands free commands. Does that make sense? I've seen short little pieces of it, but would love a long video dedicated to your good four legged children. :) God bless you both and your big kids. Can't wait for your next many videos!! :)

Totally impressed with the boys & their logging together. Great Job, Jim!!! Still heartbroken over Buck passing, May he be watching over Ken , Baron & Jim & Resting I. P. I miss him. Ken & Buck were a beautiful team & always enjoyed watching the beauty of both of them together. Wow they pulled that load of logs like it was nothing!!! That snow is CRAZY to walk in, I know, cause it in our paddocks & pastures. Our horses haven't wanted to venture out away from the barn much, we got about a 1/2 inch of freezing rain yesterday(monday)here in Lower Michigan & it has made it very difficult for them to get around. God Bless

I use my 4wd loader for similar purposes, Have a little job now logging some big red oak and the hill out is terrible, had a horse slip and fall a few days ago with a butt log. Ended up using cable and pulley to winch it up, pulley on the log, cable fixed to tree at top of hill and other end to cart up on the level. Took all 180 ft of cable and still a hard pull. There is no other way than up the hill. Going to skid the rest out to bottom of hill and then use 4 horses on the sleigh to get them up. Can't even get up the hill with the 4wd tractor which is why I'm reluctant to drive it down to load logs but I guess I'll figure out how to get it out later. Always something. The terrain there looks so nice and level! We have about 20 inches of snow in the bush and more coming down as I write.

@johnkomosa4089
@johnkomosa4089 Жыл бұрын
The way I describe that pc. for Brenda is.., imagine cutting into an onion and turning your knife with a twist the onion pops apart on the layers, that is what that smooth pc is it popped apart on the annular ring and you see the smooth surface of the angular ring. You never see that when wood is cut because the blade or plainer is straight and the smooth surface is natural and round, it takes great force to do that, shear impact. Busted apart on the annular surface.

Are you a new subscriber Tim . If yes I can answer. Many years ago Jim could not afford bought silo caps so having lots of wood and not afraid of heights . Jim built silo caps out of wood to keep the rain and snow out of his silage. Jim no longer milks cows (quite 10 yrs ago ). So silos are obsolete .I believe he has his Christmas Lights on them so that is there only purpose. As small dairy farmers have gone out of business to the larger dairy farmers there are plenty if empty obsolete silos all across America Cheers
