After experience with this head unit for about 3 months I thought i would leave a review. This is a very nice unit, the grey color is not perfect but matches the other trim closely. The screen is very good, with adjustable brightness, and even the volume and HVAC buttons feel near OEM quality. The unit functions very well once set up; my primary purpose is to jump directly into CarPlay whenever I drive. The integration with the vehicle is very well done, including door ajar notifications and the backup camera. Installation is very easy, truly plug and play. The video install is good but a wiring diagram would be nice with the unit. When i installed my unit i had a bad ground loop interference which caused a whine and poor audio quality. After a lot of testing i replaced the axillary interface on the truck and it solved the problem. I still have audio interference when the steering wheel controls are installed, so i am dealing without the SWC until a solution is found. Alex (Workshop 12) was great to deal with and was involved and active to help solve the issues I had. If you are interested in this unit i would recommend purchasing from him.

What exactly did you replace on the AUX. I have the same issue. The second I plug in the dummy aux to complete the circuit I get the low hum and whine. Did you just replace the AUX plug in the center console?

Voice assistant will work but its a bit complicated. If you are using it for vehicle functions i.e. onstar it will work normal. However, if you are using CarPlay with the new headunit, this means that your phone's bluetooth pairing is with the headunit not the vehicle. Therefore, using the voice assistant to make a phone call will not work as the truck cannot "send a command" to the headunit. HOWEVER, if you are using CarPlay (or similar) you will have Siri on the headunit and can use that for voice commands to make phone calls, play music, change tracks, etc. The situation is the same with the microphone, when you are bluetoothed to the headunit, it needs its own microphone. If you simply used the console app and connected your phone to the truck then the stock microphone will work as normal. Having said all this, the added mic isnt a big deal.

The only problem I have with this setup is that it doesn't have the outputs for an aftermarket sound system. So if you don't have a stock stereo system you would have to run LC2 or LC6 to run amps and separate channels.

Thats correct, there are RCA outputs but from my testing they dont produce an output signal. Even if they did, using a LC2 or LC6 would be the only way to keep vehicle chimes etc due to the serial bus setup of the truck.

For example let's say you have the 7" OnStar system and you ordered the 8" version then you would need to adjust the screen as the wrong size was ordered. Will that still work? 2) Truck comes with built-in GPS, why would I need another GPS antenna? 3) Since I have OnStar, I am paying for remote access through my cellphone app. Will that still work? (Door lock/unlock, horn on/off, remote start, etc). Also, I have live traffic and weather notifications on my service. GPS location to find my truck, any many other things. I ask that since I see it comes with a SIM card reader which makes me assume the onboard internet service will not work (?) 4) is the mic really that necessary? My truck's built-in mic is really good, haven't had any complaints on my calls. Your answers will make me decide whether or not to buy one.

Yes! All HVAC controls are turned into digital buttons that will appear on the screen for both sides of the truck if you have dual climate.

Our kit uses an app called "Console" which allows you to change radio stations on the fly and uses a GPS antenna with google maps and not your OEM GPS.

Yes, you would need to purchase an LTE 4G tablet data plan. However they are fairly cheap as you do not need as many Gb of internet in your car tablet as you would need on your phone.

Yes, it has RCA outputs, so if you are planning on adding a system (or have one already), i suggest connecting RCA extension cables while you have the dash open and then just hide the RCA's under the dash until its time to use them so you dont have to open the dash again.

No!! Grim is wrong! This does not have rca connection for aftermarket amps. The rca harness that comes with it is for extra cameras

Yes, you can use Netflix, KZbin and other video streaming services however we advise only to use these apps while parked.

However, I'm assuming the place you bought it from does not have exceptional customer service like we do 😆 However, as I mentioned in the video 18:11 you need to disable the dynamic guidelines under the settings > System > Dynamic Guidelines

@@jonathanespinoza7625 it’s went from a full time issue to a random issue. Sometimes it works and sometimes it won’t. I have disconnected my phones wifi and Bluetooth from the unit and it started working correctly but still have the issue.
