@PkMn Trainer Vayne By saying that, you're the same type of comments as "well you see Wolfe 297/2 is 148.5". You're giving some explanation about the result while you don't see the huge problem with it. Pokemon always rounds down. That's what we learnt, that's why we have always EV in such a way, etc. And now People just drop comments like "the game visually rounds, but actually calculates with decimals" ; without precising in which generation this is a case, what is rounded or not (and how : is it a floating point or a fixed number of decimals), or even more crazy : why Showdown doesn't do that. It's like, one morning we realizes the sky is green. And you're saying "see, the color of sky depends of the gas is in the atmosphere, and because there is X gas in it, it looks green", thinking we should be happy with that explanation. You're not seeing the huge problem : if so, how and when did the gas of atmosphere change ?!?

@PkMn Trainer Vayne My reply was about "I think you didn't get the whole point of 147CT comment".
@147CT
@147CT 3 жыл бұрын
@PkMn Trainer Vayne All of our experimentation and datamining leads us to believe that Pokemon uses integer rounding in all cases. This is why, for example, you might give your Pokemon 159 HP instead of 160 HP; Sandstorm hurts you for 1/16 HP per turn, but 1/16 of 159 is 9.9375. The game truncates the decimal and you lose 9 HP, leaving you with 15 HP after 16 turns. If there were separate counters for HP display and HP storage (which, I should mention, is not unheard of in RPGs), you would lose 15 HP on the first turn and 16 on the remaining 15 turns. What we have found is that this is not the case-that HP display shares a counter with HP storage-and it is possible to take advantage of integer rounding to manipulate the way in which you receive damage/healing. This is why @LDA - Kennard compares it to waking up and seeing the sky is green. Even if there is a sensible explanation, the existence of the situation is already very anomalous. All the evidence points towards Charizard surviving two hits of Stealth Rocks, so if we're wrong that means there may be bigger problems to worry about. Is this case special? How did we not notice this? Is it unique to Gen 4, to D/P or Pt, does it happen in Battle Revolution? It carries all sorts of mechanical implications and could potentially undermine a lot of what we thought we knew about the game.

It's not that it was inconsistent it does (and always has) done exactly 50% of total hp to a flying fire typing which in this case was 148.5 hp. The game keeps the .5 hp in mind and then uses it to do 148.5 again which in game is 149 since we don't see the decimals
@StarGamingTime
@StarGamingTime 3 жыл бұрын
Have not seen any comments of this yet, so thought I would explain the Stealth Rock situation at 6:50. I can understand the confusion and the problem is because of HP being shown in whole numbers and not percentages. The first time Charizard came in, the rocks did 148.5 HP but since ya can't see them decimals, it just rounded it up to the higher whole number ( that is how it is usually done in Maths too) being 149. Once it came back in, it did 148.5 HP again and hence, we have a ded fire dragon lizard boi.
@xxxxxxxxPROxxxxxxxx
@xxxxxxxxPROxxxxxxxx 3 жыл бұрын
The confusion isn't because people don't understand basic math rounding, it's because people know how damage works in this game. In Pokemon games, the final damage calculation uses truncated integer division, it always has. The game isn't supposed to have a hidden 0.5 damage that's not showing. Each time damage is calculated it uses a 4 step damage calculation based on stats, move power, rng, multipliers etc. and the damage done in most cases would be irrational decimals. To compensate, the game always rounds down to the nearest whole integer. So once the damage is done, what you see is supposed to be the damage that is done it doesn't keep hidden decimals or percentages, that's why people are questioning it.

Also, a Blaze boosted Fire Blast hits hard. Finally it has the rather inconsistent but fun Belly drum set, with alongside its high special attack + blaze boost can win battles easily. It's definitely not your average challenge channel. You should check it out, I believe you'll be surprised, as a vgc player, by how much you can accomplish when you test the limits of a game like he does. I kind of want him to react to the Tyranitar video or something weird like Jumpluff who thought would be terrible, but turned out to be surprisingly viable.

Charizard takes 148.5 damage from stealth rocks, the game registers that even if it doesn't displays it and when it enters again it takes the remaining 148.5 and faints.

The only explanations I can think of for Charizard taking 148 on its first switch and 149 on its next from stealth rocks are: A) the game keeps track of the 1/2 damage it should take non visually B) the game chooses to round up or down at random C) the game rounds differently depending on the color of its life bar. i.e. if the bar is green it rounds down, if its yellow/red it rounds up

FSG has come such a long way since his first video. Not to say his Charizard video was bad, but everything has just improved so much since then.

I would certainly like more reactions to FSG videos. For episodes I'd recommend for reactions,Wynaut because why not,Ledian because memes,any of the mystical pokemon because it would be interesting to hear what you think of them,and for this month possible a ghost type like Misdreavus or Spiritomb to fit the season.
