That last 'trick' would of wiped out most of us here.

Michael Tsung Hahaha! Put down your king, you have 20 seconds to comply! Don't put it past alpha zero!

Great coverage of the games - nice attempted trick at the end of Kramnik's game. Well done, GM King.

These are fantastic videos, and what a great tournament so far. Thanks Daniel King

When Aronian is playing with confidence, he doesn't care about material and has a good feel for maintaining the initiative. When he's not, he grabs a pawn, tries to hang on to it, and gets his rook stuck for the whole damn game. The difference is pretty stark.

Zero dislikes, as it should be. Awesome video as always!

I totally would have fallen for Kramnik's trick. I would have played Qd8+ instantly.

I wish Wesley would have gone for 33.Rd6!! Now that would have been a true masterpiece!

At 8:00, actually, you should look at 33 Rd6 because the idea is beautiful: 33...Bxd6 34 Ng5! threatening a fork on f7 and mate on h7; Black only has 34...Qh2+ 35 Kf1 g6 36 Rxd6 when the R can't be recaptured.

My machine also pointed this out, but I didn't want to get too much into hypotheticals when there were other variations that had more relevance and were as beautiful.

Ok, thanks Danny. Thanks for your videos, they're much appreciated.

I recorded a video concerning 33 Rd6 for my Patrons - there are some beautiful variations. I answer two questions. (1) Why is it a good move? Why didn't Wesley play it? Sign up to www.patreon.com/powerplaychess for extra videos and insights!

Very nice game by So The diamond of Kb6, a5, c5, b4 with the stray rook in the center highlights blacks failed attack in an aesthetic only chess can provide.

Regarding the "inhuman" difficult move 33. Rd6, perhaps it would be worth mentioning that this gets a winning position, whereas 33. Nf4 is equal. Looking at the lines with computer it seems possible to find it over the board as Ng5 is a move you want to play because of the multiple royal forks, and similar (human) reasoning.

I produced an extra video for my Patrons on the move 33 Rd6! Please sign up to www.patreon.com/powerplaychess and you can check it out! The move is not as straightforward as the computers would have you believe...

Can you please try to explain why the computer suggests 33. Rb6 ? Thanks.

I think you mean 33 Rd6. I produced an extra video for my Patrons on exactly this! It took me 15 minutes to explain the details of the move, so if you don't mind I won't reproduce that here... But please sign up to www.patreon.com/powerplaychess and you can check it out!

Can Kramnik get his cool back?

Aronian's 23...Nd7 is really ugly. He never managed to untangle his pieces afterwards.
