World Chess Champion Reveals Why Karpov Lost To Kasparov in 1985
Vladimir Kramnik analyses game 24 of the match karpov vs. kasparov in 1985. The 1985 World Chess Championship match between Anatoly Karpov and Garry Kasparov is one of the most famous and controversial in the history of chess. Anatoly Karpov needed to win the last game (game 24 that Kramnik analyses in this video) to retain his world title. A draw would allow Kasparov to become the new world champion.
Vladimir Kramnik explains in deep details how Karpov and Kasparov think in this game and explains the mistakes made by Karpov that led to his defeat and the loss of the world championship chess title.
Vladimir Kramnik is a Russian chess grandmaster who was born on June 25, 1975. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest chess players of all time, and was the Classical World Chess Champion from 2000 to 2006.
Kramnik became a grandmaster at the age of 16, and in 1993 he qualified for the Candidates Tournament, the event that determines the challenger for the World Chess Championship. In 2000, he defeated Garry Kasparov in the Classical World Chess Championship, a title he held for six years before losing it to Viswanathan Anand.

Wow that was some recap. Amazing! Interesting to see Karpov and Kasparov played the chicken game against each other. Karpov forcing Kasparov to play defencivly and Kasparov forcing Karpov to play offencevly. Probably Karpov thought thats Kaspy would just shelter as long as possible and then crack or he thought that Kaspy would make a rush impolsive move to break out and Karp would capilise on that. But it was Kaspy that won the mind battel and played some remarceble defencive moves before he could exell in the new dynamic possision.

Kramnik very insightful here - not the curmudgeon who claims everyone who beats him is a cheater.

I wonder if Karpov and Kasparov were closer in age what would have happened. Karpov clearly understands better chess than Kasparov, but kasparov plays much more aggressive.
