I took and won the challenge in February 1990. The meal appears to be the same as it was back then, except the shrimp dish is not as large now; back then it was an enormous, full shrimp cocktail. Like you, I found the steak to be well cooked and absolutely delicious. I did not receive all of the swag that you did after winning, so I am jealous (they gave me the certificate and let me sign their register of champions, and that was it). It took me 13 minutes longer to finish than it did you, and watching your video makes me now realize that I could (and should) have asked for an extra plate to give me more cutting room. As with you, the waitress who attended me was super nice, accommodating and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful video, and for a delightful trip down memory lane!
@LynnCindy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah... I did it back in 1995, on April 8th, and I only got the certificate and to sign the register. I was miserable for three days afterward, and despite the fact that we have since moved to Amarillo, and I'm much larger now, I'm not sure I would try it again. We have eaten there numerous times since moving here a few months back, and haven't seen anyone complete it while we were there. It might kill me now. LOL!

That was amazing and fun to watch - way to go! I did the challenge 10 years ago because I had the same ambition. I got to sit up on stage and they even had the camera above the stage that you can stream watch the video live. When they brought out my steak, they gave me the option to bite into it to make sure it was cooked the way I liked it. Mine ended up being a slight bit over cooked - so they took it back and cooked me another 72* ounce steak (20 minutes later). I had all of my friends cheering me on and the wife and kids at home watching on the live stream. Once they brought me the steak back - OMG, this thing literally was the size of my arm, hanging over the plate. So once I got into cutting through the steak, I was tearing through it...10 min...20 min....30 min... I was starting to seeing some light and the bottom of the plate! Then all of a sudden I hit this wall at 40 minutes...face starting turning white...the excitement was getting to me and yes, I even started to sweat...lol. My wife at home, had to run to the bathroom and came back - asked one of my kids: How's Daddy doing? And my kid with no expression says...I think Daddy threw up in the boot....Yes, I didn't quite have the same outcome as you - but it was definitely one of those check box items that I can say I tried...but failed miserably.

@@jldude84 The gospel by which we're saved. We're under Paul's ministry today. Therefore we're not under the law of the old testament. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. And that takes us back to John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. So it's only by GRACE that we are saved not by works. Jesus did all the work and gave us GRACE (unmerited favor) as long as we have FAITH (believe) in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for SALVATION (trust in his blood). That's the gospel. Jesus said, Ye must be born again to enter into the kingdom.(accept Jesus as your SAVIOR)
