Chuuk in Micronesia is also having an independence referendum next year. For 2019 in Ireland, Cork City had a boundary extension into County Cork making it 5 times larger, the biggest local government area change in years.

It was indeed a relatively quiet year. And I think next year will be too. I suspect that Bougainville will have a bit if a wait until independence. And another referendum in Scotland looks unlikely just now (but i do see it happening eventually). It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. In the meantime, happy new year. I’ll look forward to seeing more videos.

Geography World Good point. But I suspect that it’ll be a little while before any change would be implemented in that case as well. 2021/2022 could be an interesting time though! By then it’ll have been a decade since the last country joined the UN.

yeah I know right, well this channel was made in 2018 but I'm pretty sure it will grow by a huge amount in future, some of this guy's content I would say is better than other larger educational youtubers, the animations are really well done and satisfying.

Al Baqoura and Al-Ghamr, right? Technically, it is not a "gain". The Israel- Jordan peace treaty of 1994 recognised Jordanian sovereignty over these lands, but since Israeli farmers had cultivated these lands for years, as a good will gesture Jordan leased these two land parcels to Israel for 25 years so they could continue farming. The lease was for 25 years and was to expire in 2019. The agreement stipulated Jordan must give Israel a time of one year before implementing any change in the status of those lands. Jordan informed Israel it wished not to renew the lease in 2018, so the lease expired, and the Israeli farmers had to vacate the lands.

Cem Nayman Most Cypriots don’t consider Cyprus Asian. Saying it is “geographically Asian” isn’t entirely correct as islands don’t just follow proximity, culture must also be considered. For example, Malta is in the African plate.
