Fun fact: The whole "British food is bad" notion started with American soldiers stationed in the UK after WWII. When Britain was going through rationing possibly worse than during the actual war. But those soldiers thought, "Well, back home everything is back to normal, so this must be the kind of food the locals eat every day!" And then went back home and told everyone about it, and it's been repeated since then. And then, of course, the internet came around and the Americans repeated this often enough for a lot of people (most of whom never even visited the UK) to believe and repeat it, reinforcing the idea.
