There’s been several comments about Swiatek winning the junior championship at Wimbledon in 2018! That was then & her junior years are over! Swiatek has got something in her mind about playing on the grass & that’s something she’s going to have to deal with! Swiatek is the tennis player she has her coaching staff to help her work through some tough situations & that hasn’t happened on grass! Iga has two factors if she wants to win Wimbledon imo: (1) add a bit more variety to her game with slices/lobs/drop shots/change of pace (2) figure out how to flatten her forehand; her extreme Western grip is great for top spin on clay (hence 4x French Opens for her) but not for the ball skidding low on grass, it's too hard to hit consistently. It's too late for her to completely revamp her mechanics but she needs to adjust them if she wants to win here.
@mrmax73484 күн бұрын
exactly, she already improved serve....but that is not enough, she have to change her playing style if want win grass (with good opponents who know how play grass). I am afraid she still dont accept that her tactic and play style was bad...she again think that problem is she was too tired after RG. No...she was tired because increased pace and started hit ball stronger and stronger...efect? only more and more unforced errors. Ball @ grass dont jump as strong like @ clay. She have to re-think her tactic and start play more smart. Maybe next year she better prepare grass season because this year Olimpic Games are her main target.

True but she said after match she didnt rest enough eventhough she didnt play any tournaments after RG 🤔
@mrmax73484 күн бұрын
@@deancorso4212 but for me thats wrong...for me problem is her playstyle, I am 100% sure that even if she rest 2-3 months more she still lose that match. Grass need change her playstyle, have to play more smart and she cant accept that. She play exactly same like other surfaces.

We have always pulled for Puntintseva. It's just her earthy doggone effort of giving anyone she plays trouble. What a determined temperament ! On any given day she can get it done, but what I'm really happy about is the well deserved recognition this match has finally given her. It's long overdue. Love her or dislike her, she is great for ratings. A very special competitor indeed. So thrilled.

Well for the case of Yulia Putinseva it's third time "lucky" this season against Swiatek 👏👏👏👏👏👏 This will certainly feel good in the morning for the Kazakh 🙂😲😲 As for Swiatek who hasn't lost a match since Stuttgart 😳😳 Will certainly reflect on how to improve her grass court game if she's to win this tournament one day

Yulia played almost perfectly in second and third. Last match of those ladies was on clay and it was 6-0, 6-0 to Iga. It's a long road...till Iga will figure out grass. But! In three matches Iga three times have more aces than her opponent. Her serve game is improving fast.

This year is worst for Iga to play Wimbledon, she could not prepare well for grass. Only Sabalenka played on such intensity as Swiatek during clay season and she paid big price for switching to grass without proper recovery. Swiatek chose this year French Open and Olympic Games over Wimbledon, she won't have better opportunity in her career to win gold medal than this year. Putincewa lost early on French Open (2nd) round so she had plenty of time and she used that time well. She is on 8 matches winning streak on grass, for last few months she played very good, losing to strong opponents and by narrow margin. Just recall her game against Rybakina in Madrid. She has potential to win Wimbledon, but after beating Swiatek she looked as if she achieved big success and that might be problem for her because she might feel too confident. If she will beat Penko and prove that she is not out of focus I think she can win Wimbledon. She is not definitely afraid of Rybakina, Ons Pegula are out. Gauff wasn't seriously tested yet.
