IS-7 sits in my garage demilitarized. No crew, ammo, equipment, and destroyed. i would happily trade it to rebuy my tier 9s i sold to buy other 10s. :( haven't played a single game in a couple days without getting ammo racked. and ive been seeing tons of other IS-7s being the first ones to die. not so much because of bad position just spotted for a short time and a TD blasts it through the front giving no Fcks about its armor and boom. ammo racked. 2150 health gone. maybe just bad luck or improperly played or equipped but i don't feel its worth playing.

IS-8 is a true paper tank , but i've managed to understand what it likes and what it doesn't when i take on the battlefield, so in most of the times i am effective ,even if my team most of the time isn't and we lose the game. IS-7 like any other tank has weak spots , try to hide them and see how it goes. I haven't researched IS-7 yet , but i can tell you that i've seen lots of people angle it (which you shouldn't) and i've also seen lots of people leaving the "belly" uncovered. I shoot it there all the time and i never miss a shot. So , don't angle , hide the belly and see how it goes.

nfsfanAndrew Mate ,IS7 has two different playstyles. 1. You can play it like a heavy ,if you are the only tier 10 "heavy" tank in your team. 2. You can always play it like a medium tank with a very very big gun and great armor :P, but only if your team has an E-100 or a Maus. ,also depends on the map you are playing on. People are firing heat ammo at my turret ,and ding ding ,and then they cry about how OP the is7 is. xD

Cheers Jingles. I did enjoy and learn from this video. Been having a hell of a time in my IS-7. Most of the Soviet tanks are brawlers and this fits my play style. The low hp is a problem but playing it right is key. I really like the term "controlled agression". This is as you said, a tier 10, and as such, the brawler mentality gets you killed without support. Will favorite this vid and review it until I know it well.

is7 still is a wonderful tank but its not like some other tier 10 heavys were you just have bulk armor and a big gun almost no skill needed ....is7 is one of the more difficult heavys to play but when a good skilled player is playing it, it turns into and unstoppable beast..in the hands on a less skilled/ bad player the tank sucks

Get it hulled down, and basically nothing can pen it. It does need support from others though because it's DPM sucks, it cannot go head to head with multiple opponents. Get some back up and you're golden

Spaced armor is basically just two plates of armor ontop of eachother with some space in between. The advantage is that if a shot penetrates the outer plate it will be stopped by the plate underneath. Spaced armor was first developed in world war 2 to prevent shaped charges from penetrating.

when you're going around the corner in an IS-7, you can try something similar to sidescraping that's not really sidescraping. Back around the corner at a very slight angle so that your pike nose isn't vulnerable, and you will retain the good angling.

Gotta make some corrections. The IS-7's side hull consists of three parts: -Lower side hull, 100mm flat (the part behind the tracks). The tracks themselves add 20mm, but external modules aren't affected by angle. -Mid-side hull (the flat part above the tracks). 20mm spaced armour plus a 100mm inner plate @ 60 degrees. -Upper side hull (sloped part under the turret). 150mm @ 47 degrees. If you're willing to fork over 3 dollars, I recommend gamemodels3d.

As others have said, essentially 2 layers of armor spaced apart from each other, the outer layer usually thin. The basic idea is that the thin outer layer can cause premature detonation (in the case of HEAT warhead) which will cause decreased penetration when it hits the real armor as HEAT loses penetration rapidly from the point of detonation Or in cases like subcaliber penetrator it can cause the penetrator to shatter (like in whipple shield) but this only works against very small penetrator

Anyone find it curious that the IS-7 has only about 7 tons more than the IS-4 and about 300PS more .... but they are about the same mobility on even terrain .... (tested it several times with friends) ... and only overtakes IS-4s on very long straights .... but as always .... keep up the good work Jingles

You select your first skill, and then let it reach 100%. Once it does, you can then select another skill for that crewmember. Keep in mind, the 2nd skill takes longer to reach 100% than the 1st skill, and the 3rd skill takes even longer to reach than the 2nd, and so on down the line. I believe it's a logarithmic function. Google "World of Tanks Wiki; crew" and you can read about it. The WoT wiki has answers to most questions about the game. Also, look in the official forum. You can ask there.

premium penetration like APCR, APDS ammo have their normalization reduced to just 2 degree instead of 5 degree. HEAT also gets massive nerf, some directly... but the real nerf they get is that now they have reduced penetration the further away they get from the point of impact, so spaced armor now becomes quite effective at reducing HEAT penetration, and tracks functions as spaced armor against it. OTOH, all guns (except SPG) are now much more accurate or rather much more reliable at range.

if you talking about sheer alpha damage, the E-100 holds that title. It's final gun can do 750 damage on average but you lose penetration and accuracy (and I think also aim time) in exchange for that.

There's nothing wrong with the Is-7 gun Jingles. It's the same complaints every one's making about guns when they fire without being fully aimed And it usually happens with guns that have long aiming time, the impatience during the heat of battle is understandable. You need to let the reticle shrink completely unless the whole of the enemy tank is covered But even then if you do not want your shot to deviate and hit some sort of spaced armour like wheels/tracks or gun mantle you should hold fire

Are you planning on getting that new spall liner with +30% ramming and explosions dmg cower in 8.6? Sounds to me like it might do be good for this tank, considering the wonderful ramming potential (fast and heavy tank) and how much big arty there is around in tier 10 matches nowdays.

Well... the description for both is that the ammorack will get more HP. So it will take more damage before it turns yellow (50% (or was it 75%?) HP or lower, but not 0%, e.g. damaged), and ofc. before it blows up (0% HP).

Your analysis of the armor had some errors. Best place to shoot isn't the lights. It's the towing loops lower down on the upper glacis, just a spot above the beak. Also please don't shoot at the drivers hatch. There's an observation module right in the middle that will eat shells. Next to the module is a 140 mm plate sloped at 75 degrees! Basically an auto-bounce unless you're using AP and looking at the hatch straight on. From straight on and with 5 degrees of normalization the towing loop is 280 mm effective. The lights are 311. With HEAT the towing loops are 328 and the lights are 375. Also with a tier X TD you can pen through the relatively small cheek bones of the turret face (300/328/350 effective with AP/APCR/HEAT).

vert stabs will always give you 20% faster aiming plus better accuracy on the move. gun laying drive gives you 10% faster aiming time only

Give it at least 100 more health make the traverse 30, and the turret 28. Make the gun loading 5 or better per minute, the accuracy .38, and shave 4 seconds off the aiming time. I think that would add that extra bit of awesomeness to the is7 that would make it a little more worth grinding to get.

My IS-7 so far reminds me of a combo of IS-8 and IS-3. Find IS-8 to be best short to medium 100-300ish far enough LFP still a hard target and front armor will easily take bounce rest. Up close Hand to Hand the IS-3 shines. While IS-3 can shoot from bit further and IS-8 can brawl it up, neither is at its best there, IS-3 well soviet gun being further away put it at disadvantage , IS-8 sides/rear touch to weak to really brawl. IS7 fits both keeping it in those ranges it comes out very strong.

Yeah, tested the IS-7 on the 8.6 testserver. Well, hitting weakspots is still not reliably doable (and shouldn't be in all honesty) but no problems hitting a target even while driving. Got 94% hit rate or so with it and the missed shots were entirely my fault.

Yes absolutely ! The other day i was above an IS-3, he was angled wrong, so i was shooting holes in his upper plate easily with my Super Pershing, aaah the rage! Then i tried too explain too him that my position above him negated his sloping, and then 170 mm pen is plenty for 110 mm armor, but the raging continued :)

As my first tier 10 heavy tank im very happy with this Russian beast. Its turret is nearly impenetrable. If you can properly side scrape your spaced side armor will bounce shells from tier 10 tank destroyers such as the fvb 183 and the jagpanzer e 100. You really don't want to trade shots from far away with other tanks then they will have a good shot at your lower pike nose. The gun can be finicky but is still good.

Honestly i have never been shot in the turret by Hesh but i would guess due to the fact the turret is 240 and rounded it can take a hit. Unsure how much health you would lose. And if you get shot in the side while side scraping the magical russian spaced side armor and tracks will take the brunt of the damage. I would think if you get shot in the lower plate it would really hurt. Though it is a really tough tank. Nothing can pen the turret and the upper plate is good if you have the lower plate covered. Not the best but not the worst.

Watch that particular scene in the video again and you will notice that Jingles does not have the M48 Patton researched seeing he needs 160000 Exp to research it, if he had it researched than the price for the tank would be displayed instead of the research Exp cost

I tried this beast on test. I bounced so many shells. From the front it is damn near impenetrable. Keep in mind that was on test, where they all use gold. That JagdPanzer E100 damn near emptied the entire rack into my front. I have to get me one of those. I must.

Looks like the 8.6 is going to correct the most random nature of the IS-7 (like every other tank), even if it gets a penetration nerf, its performance should get more consistent

Jingles you should of waited for 8.6 to do the review for this. The accuracy changes make the gun actually pretty reliable. The armor is much better due to the penetration and normalization changes.

I just got the IS-7, have about 30 games on it so far. Right now, I like the IS-8 better. IS-7's armor is great (again - don't angle it, and keep your lower hull beak covered.) The gun is kind of a let down - It has good alpha, but gives up every other stat (Pen, reload speed, accuracy, aim time) to get this single advantage. If the IS-8's gun were available to use on the IS-7, id switch over and use it instead :P IS-7 seems to have 1 successful playstyle - Get right in your enemies face to nullify it's gun's accuracy/ aim-time drawbacks

I haven't had ammo rack problems in my IS-7. The whole IS -7 line is full of brawling tanks. Jingles, in future review videos try not to focus on the bad stuff so much. I love my IS- 7, and if you like brawling tanks you will love the IS-7.

It's going to recieve a good buff (armor wise) in 0.8.6 since spaced armor will be providing better protection against HEAT rounds and overall nerf of AP rounds on t10 heavies.
