On the other hand, if the map design wasn't so prone to encouraging hull down fighting maybe people wouldn't get fed up and play the one class nobody actually likes "fighting" because it can hurt/stun/annoy the hull down tanks even when gold can't.

The hull down meta is mostly problem of poor map designe. Biger more open maps would solve this. Also remember the time when you could miss play and only loose around 500 to 750 hp. Now if you make a miss play you will eat 2000 damage in 4 seconds from two autoloaders.

I think that it is the oposite. If there would be more obstacles in the maps then you wouldn't have to worry about getting caught in the open and it would be easier to flank around.

it's not even that honestly. Most of the maps Wargaming design these days have been corridor designs. Remember, back when they said they wouldn't make lane maps and the first map that came out after that was Paris. WG make maps like this and it coincidentally supports Russian heavies. there's a reason people call Soviet bias in the company when it comes to their game and vehicle design. Also remember that Russian Mediums are nigh impenetrable if shooting at their turret. the map design is what they know 'works' which.......it doesn't. it's repetition. they can't make open maps because then everyone complains that there's no cover, the lights decide the entire fight and people who aren't skilled at using camo complain about how the map is bad. at least this way they can please one section of their gaming community

I'm a Brit/American Player. most of the tanks I play live and die by our turret armor, and I can tell you I've had more games where there is no place to set up and use that gun depression then I've had where I actually can. Cities are flat.

@@johnmcpudding857 I think that what we really need aren't necessarily "open" maps, but rather larger map. The maps need more pathways and angles so that the whole match doesn't grind to a halt as the heavies all cluster up in a corner and sit in hull down positions where they know they can't be hurt. We need to have the ability to force the heavies to relocate from place to place and break up those clusterfucks. As it stands, the maps only have 3 avenues of travel. This simply isn't enough. I'd suggest something like a 1200 X 1200 maps instead of the standard 1000 X 1000. This way the flanking tanks could actually flank around BEFORE the heavy tanks finish their hull down contest and force the meta to change.

I had a battle 3 days ago where 2 people were in the cap, and a Churchill III was 3 meters away from it, but rather than driving into it he just kept sniping, which he could have done just as much from inside the cap circle, it ended up being a draw since thanks to that dumbass the enemy also captured our base 3 seconds after we captured theirs

Oh boy. When they split the russian heavies up, I already had the IS4 researched, but not bought. So after it, I had the new T10 researched with none of the prior tanks needed. But I didnt want the IS4, I wanted the sexy beast that is the IS7. So I started grinding out the ... IS8 it was, iirc, to get to it... My clan was giving me no end of shit for having my first T10 already researched, but refusing to buy it.

IS4 was the third tier 10 I unlocked after the IS7 and the T62a. 9 years later I still haven't bought it. The ST1 is great though, even got me through the block 3 times your armour mission for the Obj260 when nothing else would work. Nice to see it featured and nice to see somebody not HEAT spamming all day.

If that IS-7 had been less cautious against the T54E1 and tried tanking a few shots for Dave, Dave would've had more health going into the cap circle and the IS-7 while having less health would have more justification to hide behind the rock equally the E-100 sat sideways on to where the enemies where, he might as well had turned his hull to the direction of the FV4005 because you could anticipate that the 4005 was going to be coming from the direction he was spotted from

Honestly he didn't even need to take any shots for Dave, he just needed to be in a position to shoot the t54 when it broke cover and he would have saved Dave a whole lot of headache. Similarly, if he'd been in a position to shoot the shit barn when it popped up on the hill (like it was always going to) this game would've been over a lot faster. Tbf the same could be said of Dave, but he was safeguarding the teams only capture points at that point so at least he has an excuse.

To cap or not to cap? That is the question. Normally with 3 heavies and the enemy with a td and a med I would go back and defend the cap. However with time running out and being in 3 big slow heavies they made the push for victory. They made the right call in what was a shitty situation. Honestly is the stb wasn't shit that would have been a loss. Good match.
