I read the first 7 or so books when i was young, maybe 13. I've started rereading the first novel and your channel has been excellent for providing in depth information.

Corrections: At 2:25 Ishara Casalain actually had dark skin. The image I created is more in line with the recent queen's of Andor, but not accurate to the first. At 10:59 text should say "Sailmistress", not "Shipmistress" At 13:46 Waygates were gifted to Ogier during the Breaking, at the beginning of the Third Age.

Is it ever mentioned why there's so much unclaimed territory in the Westlands?

One of my favorite pieces of world building in the Wheel of Time is how common female leadership/matriarchy is. This makes sense in a world where men can go mad and turn into walking nuclear bombs of magic without much warning. Many of these cultures also have negative assumptions about men for the same reason.
