One of my personal favourite macro tools is a script that stops your character saying 'its not ready yet' when your using a macro with different cooldowns (like say a macro that uses a potion but its already been used, that sort of thing) Here is an example: My Beast Mastery Hunter wants to be able to use his trinket on top of the ability Bestial Wrath but because the CD's are on different timers we are going to get 'I cant use that yet' or 'that ability isn't ready yet' a lot which is rather annoying, we need to add something to the macro script to take that audio out! #showtooltip Bestial Wrath /console Sound_EnableSFX 0 /petattack /use 13 /use 14 /cast Bestial Wrath /console Sound_EnableSFX 1 /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear() This macro ensures that my pet will be attacking the intended target, my trinkets (both if possible) are activated and my ability is used while at the same time all audio warnings your character could give off are muted and then unmuted at the end of the macro, all at the touch of a single button. You can also use this on your abilities that you tend to be spamming a lot, like your basic low cost healing spells or recourse generating abilities. Hope this helps.

This helped me create my panic button for my DH. But now, a new question, how would I go about making a macro that does use global cooldowns. For example. I want to use Chaos Strike whenever able, but when I am not able I want to cast Demon’s Bite How would I go about doing this?

This is the kind of stuff you should be doing instead of lfr guides, Preach just released one video in a series he calls "standing out". Which is essentially what it says, with this you're pretty much doing the same thing. You're showing players how to utilize the basics of the game as optimal as possible and that is part of the transition to more serious endgame. I've been using macro's ever since I've been raiding in Wrath and I never knew about the numbers corresponding to the gear slots. A nice start to a good guide, keep it up!

I still can't find a place where I can see what invokes GCD. I need to organize my shitton of spells (enh shaman) in conditional macros, but they end up shit because most invoke gcd mid-macro.

Hi! WoW is a huge game, but the best way - I've found - to enjoy it is to just take it one step at a time. You'll pick things up as you spend time in the world and learn how everything works. As for a macro for a spell that you haven't unlocked, the macro just won't work until you unlock the spell!

How should we know when to use space or not, or [] or [type], or other symbols? I don't think that's something you can do, I'm afraid! But you can use "/target" followed by the name of an enemy to target specific enemies.

I have just a quick question: Is it possible to use a focus-target macro in the way that you've written the mouseover macro? I'm a Restoration Shaman and since I always have the Boss as a focus target I'd like to have a macro that can interrupt him or steal a buff and I don't want to move my mouse away from the raidframes. I was thinking the macro would look like this: #showtoolitip Wind Shear /stopcasting /stopcasting /cast [target=focus] Wind Shear /cast [target=focus] Purge Would this work at all and if so do I need a modifier for the last line? +flyingpinguin1 Heya! That macro looks fine to me. You should try it out on a training dummy by making it your focus, targeting yourself, and then using that macro.

Only if you have the talent Primal Elementalist. If you do, then the macro is this: /cast [nopet:Primal Fire Elemental] Searing Totem

Not if the AoE spell is targeted on the ground. You'll need to do it the old-fashioned way. If the AoE spell requires a target, though, then yes, mouseover macros will work!

Hey Tuskeh, great video! I have been trying to get a macro going so whenever I hit Home(Number 7 on my Razer Naga) it summons my Fire Elemental Totem, whenever I hit shift+Home it summons my Storm Elemental Totem and then when I hit ctrl+Home it summons my Earth Elemental Totem. Hey David, I've done some research and contacted one of the members of my raid team, who is much smarter than I am. I've tested the macro and it works perfectly. If you hit it without a modifier, it casts Fire Elemental Totem. If you modify it with shift, it casts Storm Elemental Totem (if you don't have the talent, it will summon Fire Elemental instead), and if you modify it with control it will summon the Earth Elemental. /cast [mod:shift, talent:7/2]Storm Elemental Totem; [mod:ctrl]Earth Elemental Totem; Fire Elemental Totem If you want to get more into macros, then an AddOn suggested to me was Bindpad, which lets you keybind macros directly to buttons rather than needing to use actionbar slots. Additionally, wow.gamepedia.com/Macro_conditionals is a good place to learn more about macros!

Hey man I got a problem I can't figure out. I tried to make a macro on my fury warrior that lets met do charge, bloodthirst and then piercing howl in that sequence but I can't make it work. I've tried several things and one of them is like this: /cast charge /cast bloodthirst /cast piercing howl Now the charge doesn't give global cd but the bloodthirst does, but nevertheless it never casts bloodthirst after i charge, I don't know if it's possible because the range variation is completly different between those two. Any ideas?

You can set a button to a key using the keybinding menu (press escape, then click Key Bindings) so that it activates when you press the button, instead of clicking on it!
