As a software engineer and veteran wow player I’ve often been very frustrated with how unsupported a lot of the “power user functionality” within WoW truly is. help (or harm) can't be resolved as true if it doesn't exist, so having both in a condition is pointless, better have it like help, nodead instead so the macro doesn't try to cast at dead units

Is there a way to set it up where clicking the key bind goes directly straight to the available casting ability instead of clicking the keybind until it reaches the available one? @quazzi isn't /startattack the same as the 'Action Targeting' option in the ingame settings they added to Dragonflight? Similarly the @mouseover targeting modifier is largely replaced with the Mouseover casting setting (also added in Dragonflight). You also mentioned once that the talent:Row was changed in Dragonflight to known: instead - I'd love to see an updated guide that talks about the deprecations or additions relative to Dragonflight

Been watching a while, subbed finally. QUESTION!! Specifically for something like Mana Tea for Mistweavers, what macro could I use to stop channeling it so I don't use all my stacks? Ideally looking for one button start and stop scenario but I wouldn't mind having two. /stopcasting /cqs I don't think this will work..

The easiest thing to do would be to use escape to stop the channel, otherwise you would need to have another spell interrupt Mana Tea. You could use something like /use [channeling:Mana Tea] Tiger Palm;Mana Tea if you wanted to go that route, but then you would need to be in melee and you might as well press your bind for tiger palm instead. There are some toys that might work to cancel the channel AND are usable in combat AND don't trigger a gcd, but you'd have to test that(I'm on a WoW hiatus). Things like Stackable Stag used to be macro'd into abilities for melee who wanted to appear to have a higher apm in logs, though the toy cooldown would be prohibitive for that as often as MW uses Mana Tea

Cancel Aura macros no longer needed to remove your own immune abilities. You just press the button a 2nd time and it removes it. But still useful to remove BoP etc.

If you are playing a hybrid class or healer, you can practically have 4 spells on 1 button( you could have 6 spells but 255 character limit won't allow it). Every healer class has a dot, hot, flash heal and smite kinda spells. this is how you do it: #showtooltip /use [mod:alt,combat] Bloodlust; [@mouseover,mod:shift,help,exists][help] Healing Surge; [@mouseover,mod:shift,harm,nodead][]Lightning Bolt;[mod:alt,@player] Riptide;[@mouseover,nodead,exists,help][help,nodead] Riptide;[@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Flame Shock; This will Healing Surge on friendly targets and Lightning Bolt on enemy targets over the mouse when holding shift, Riptide when targeted yourself and holding alt or hovering on a friendly, Flame Shock on a hovered or targeted enemy Plus it will BL if you are in combat and not targeting yourself.

While of course you can set up all your healing spells with macros, I would still recommend using Clique as a healer. Macros do not make it redundant. It keeps them centralized, easily accessed and altered, and setting them up is far simpler. The point of Clique is allowing you to use modifiers in combination with your mouse buttons, and freeing up keybinds. You don't need to have Chain Heal on a keybind, you can just shift+left click on a raid frame, for example. Great vid as always Quazii

if you are trying to maximize output it's best to have separate binds, but for keybinding efficiency at lower level play it's possible. If you don't spam the button, as neither trigger a gcd /castsequence reset=combat Healthstone,Dreamwalker's Healing Potion will work in Raid situations. in M+, you could opt to take out "reset=combat" so that you can still use healthstone then health potion on two different pulls; the reset command puts you back at the beginning of the sequence so it would otherwise leave health pot unusable unless you have already used healthstone within one pull.

Thumb up for your videos! Still, I have a problem with the macro I would like to create on my survival hunter: serpent sting and the 3 variations of bombs on one button. If ; means ELSE, when I write /use serpent sting /use shrapnel bomb; pheromon bomb; volatile bomb it should cast serpent sting and then the bombs that are actually up, but it doesn't. Only serpent sting, shrapnel bomb and serpent sting again. Sorry for bothering, but maybe you can help me? Have a nice day

I don't know how that macro doesn't just cast Serpent Sting over and over again. Bombs and Serpent Sting both have a gcd, so maybe it's working off of the spell queue for the first bomb and you don't spam your buttons. Really you need to have separate binds for these tow abilities. Also, you don't need to type out the different bomb names, you can use Wildfire Bomb as the different bombs are just from the Wildfire Infusion talent. This works for other instances of when a talent changes the spell you see as well, such as when Berserk is replaced with Incarnation: Guardian of Ursoc for Guardian druids. Note: ";" only means else for the conditionals. If you had put [nocombat]Serpent Sting;Wildfire Bomb you would read that as "If not in combat, Serpent Sting, else Wildfire Bomb" . Without the first conditional that same text would read "Use Serpent Sting" ignoring the remainder of the text. So with what you have written, it is likely using Serpent Sting, queuing up one bomb, then recasting serpent sting if you don't spam your keys.

I'm shocked that the Wowhead article is missing conditionals. Here is my Stance swapping macro that shows the stance conditional: /use [stance:2]Defensive Stance;[stance:1,spec:2][nostance,spec:2]Berserker Stance;[nostance]Battle Stance I'm also not sure if druids/warriors/priests/paladins can use [stance] interchangeably with [form] but as an extra this macro will show you what stance or form you are in: /run local x = GetShapeshiftForm() print("you are in stance: ",x)

I really need help with the /castsequence or macro that works. For example, I'm a moonkin using or spamming Moonfire and sunfire, If someone lock my Moonfire I can't cast any arcane spells for 5 secs, or a mage counter spell that locks it. How do I marco if my moonfire was lock, and use Sunfire (nature spell) instead?

You have to have separate keybinds, what you are looking for isn't possible. The closest you can get is /use [mod:alt]Sunfire;Moonfire where you use alt to simulate a new keybind without having the spells on different spots on your bars.

watched this videa made my own mouseover macro as hunter, BUT with "petattack" I found something strange with the mouse over option you say it normally reads from left to right so you usually have the command at end but seems like petattack has to go first in the sentence when it come to mouseover commands, I find it a bit odd you also cant see to use it the same way as autoattack command !autoattack or use command its just straight up /petattack, I kindda dnt understand why perhaps you have the answer?

Helpful tip for Paladins, but also anyone else really. You can directly target a party member with @party1 (or 2,3,4,5). This is helpful for Entangling where you want to hard macro a party member for Freedom every time (and it casts on you also with the talent). I usually use it for the healer so they don't have to think about moving at all and stopping their cast. Do /tar @party1 before to figgure out who you want.

Technically no and it's nice to have the option in the base UI, especially for newer players, but macros give you more granular control. The in-game version will just cast anything at any valid target which can be frustrating.

The Issue I found was that Unholy's Ghoul is classified as a pet, where Blood and Frost only get a guardian. You could also do what I did but replace Sac Pact with Death Pact (and change the reset to about 120 since for Blood/Frost the cd's are all 2 min): /castsequence [nospec:3]reset=61 Raise Dead,Sacrificial Pact;[@pet,noexists][@pet,dead]Raise Dead;Sacrificial Pact
