Kansas is sturdier than NC. Just not my type of ship to play, I personally prefer moving around and getting up close and personal. They have their place as artillery, though.

interesting, so Vermont's 457s don't overpen Smolensk like Kremlin's do... I remember being utterly frustrated doing almost no damage to Smolensk with AP, and actually started using HE in Kremlin

Previously, only Republique was a real threat to a Smolensk, and maybe Yamato. But these new monsters hit cruisers very hard. Experienced that in my Friesland too.

Rather than an Air Defense Alert, it would be nice to have a radar or sonar. If you can’t run from DDs, detecting them can give you a chance to load and get off an HE volley.

50 cruisers kills is hard because you never see cruisers lol. My highest tier ship is King George V and I’ve been stuck at 21 out of 25 cruiser kills for over a week. I’ve already got the Monarch researched, but I want to complete the battle honors on the KG V for copper rewards.

This is the first time I dont agree with you. I play the Vermont with historical camo and the new premium captain on level 12. Then she is a monster. I love this ship. One shots on close cruiser - no problem 😎. She is not op, but near by. 100k + is easy to make and not rare. But…(there is allways a but 😉) - you are helpless when a bb is rushing you. In the Vermont is cruiser support very importent. The cruiser saves you and the Vermont will do the rest.

Please note my setup. I'm playing this ship as I would assume most free-to-play players would - no premium camo, fully researched, with a level 10 commander. From what I've heard from the other CCs, a fully specced out Vermont is an absolute monster. But you've got to put 6k gold in for the camo, plus, let's say, open 20 chests at 200 each for the legendary captain. So that'll set you back between 30 and 50 AU$ (whatever that is in other currency), plus a huge amount of XP to get the captain levelled. For a free-to-play player, Vermont as shown is what they can expect, and I'd say she's about on par with Monty and even Ohio, which is a premium. You can do 100k, but it's not guaranteed.

I agree, positioning is key in Vermont, and should be played in division for maximum safety. I play a lot of Republique, and I treat Vermy as I do Yammy. (Dangerous from the distance, helpless from mid to brawl when suprised.) I tip my hat to You, I still learn the BB ropes and in my head it takes a lot of thinking to play such slow ship. (Not to be outflanked/left alone etc.)

Same I love my Vermont. Just had a 151k damage battle. Using a lvl9 premium capt. It can take a torp but DDs are still the bane of my existence. Yamamoto hurts especially since I still don't have targeting range maxed. Shell dispersion is really good. I love this whole BB line Kansas an Minnesota were both fun to play. I don't like the Iowa, I can't hit the broadside of a barn with it lol. Now if they could only fix the AI. Really sucks trying to target a battleship that is more maneuverable than a DD

Well it actually got buffed to her armor, concealment, healing effectiveness, and improve pen at med to close range. In return she slightly lost her long range effectiveness by reducing the ap pen and ....flight time i think?

The PC version before the buffs was already alright considering it can one shot izumos from full HP 10km away. Kansas and Minnesota were damage farms tho

Monty's guns go all over the place? Not when I'm their target xD I vividly remember being slammed for 1/3rd of my health by these things. I don't like facing them in anything other than DD or Conqkek/Republique.

IDK, just my feel when I'm sailing Monty - the dispersion seems rather large, which means you can get lucky with a tight grouping, or have 90% of your shells bracket the target. At least Monty can try again comparatively quickly

The primary changes you're going to want is defensive AA, and maybe better heal instead of an additional precise aim. Marksman instead of master reloader. So it really depends on how far your captain is, if you want to spend gold or free xp for a reset, and if you want to pursue the other branch as well.

Hey Terry (love ur vids by the way, by far the best wows Blitz videos on the platform) I was want to ask for your advice. I've been grinding up the Kremlin line and I've been thinking of switching lines, since I heard the Kremlin wasn't such a good ship. Im am already on the sovetsky Soyuz. Do you think I should actually switch? I would love for you (or anybody else) to respond. Thank you

That depends a lot on how you like to play. Personally, I think Kremlin is one of the weaker T10 BBs - comparatively short range makes her difficult to play in the BB sniper role. But there are certainly people out there who enjoy playing that ship. Both Kremlin and Vermont are for long range BB duels imo.

Why did you decide to go with steering gear instead of torpedo damage? I think torpedo protection is much more useful in destroyed rush then steering as well as the us bbs has the rudder shift buff.

I've reinforced the steering, since the base rudder shift is pretty good, and even with a 33% base torpedo protection, you get an additional 3.3%, which does tank some damage, but not a massive amount. Rudder allows me to not only dodge torps, but can also help dodging shells at long range, which is the playstyle I'm seeing for this ship. If you're in a dogfight with a DD, your best bet is to run (slowly) and hope the HE reloads before he can catch you.

the "armor" is a deception, she rarely bounces incoming shells. on the other hand the guns are the bread and butter amongst all battleships in the game right now. you should give it another shot with a fully maxed out setup and dispersion mod. and theres a new legendary commander that fits her like a charm. this thing has monstrous fire power, maybe even dethroning the yamato in that regard

Yes, but a fully maxed out setup at tier 10 is an expensive endeavour. Including the legendary commander, that'll set you back by a decent amount of cash, provided you're lucky with loot crates. I will definitely follow up with a "Vermont maxed" review, since I've heard from multiple side that she's vicious when maxed out, but not everyone can or wants to pay that, so this is what most people will get :)

@@FunandGameswithTerry im a f2p player myself and for me the biggest drawback is to elite the ship, which is just a matter of time. the new commander is not mandatory, a regular level 11-12 commander from the old line does just fine, which i happen to have from my montana and it doesnt need to be reseted to do well. the historical camo could be very well subtituted with the roar of steel camo, which isnt far behind and is obtainable for free from the fleet shop now and then. to sum this up, if you have the blueprints to elite this ship, is very possible that you already got a high level commander suited for her. anything else is obtainable with ease so you could say its pretty much maxed out without spending any cash

Yes, it's about time I got myself a bottle again. I've already got some ideas :) Gneisenau, haven't played her in ages. Last time I did a video with her, I had: * secondary specialisation elite bonus * secondary mod 2 for range and dispersion (you could take the other one to reduce reload, but I prefer range & actually hitting stuff) * other two slots are propulsion & steering (battlecruiser setup) for the captain, you definitely want: * close quarters expert * could consider survivalist instead of extra precise aim, since you're mostly fighting at ranges where it's hard to miss anyway * generalist instead of recon, if you're confident in your torp sense historical camo always helps, otherwise you can take I think "crossfire", which boosts the secondaries, if you can find it in the fleet shop (I wouldn't spend gold on temporary camos)

@@FunandGameswithTerry Thanks a ton for the info Terry...so uhhh...I just took the recon and extra precise aim time for the captain skills just yesterday...is it gonna affect too much? I actually really like to get the few extra seconds of sonar if a DD comes a bit too close for comfort (it really helps me out in some cases especially when someone decides to stealth torp me). And I chose the extra precise aim time to get two salvoes off comfortably (20 sec precise aim time with 19 second is a bit too tight) while closing in the long distance for a brawl because Gneisenau dispersion at long ranges can be really sh*t sometimes, given the very low number of guns. I haven't yet accumulated enough commander xp for the level 7 skill, so once I can level up my commander to level 7, I'll take the CQC expert skill. I've taken the better Secondaries as the elite bonus, so no problem about that :)

OK, so here's a mostly unrelated question: My Alsace is sitting at 193,000xp, meaning I'm almost halfway through grinding Republique. It'll be my first tier 10 ship. I only own 3 tier 9 ships, 2 of which are fully upgraded. The 3rd one(Izumo) is barely halfway upgraded. That's because I've converted LOTS of gold blueprints into purple, leaving me perpetually low on gold BP's. I just noticed that the tier 10 ships have 7 upgrade levels for each type of blueprint. My question is, how many of each gold blueprint is required to fully upgrade each module? In other words, how many main gun or hull blueprints do I need to have in stock to fully upgrade those modules on the Republique, once I buy it? Hopefully it's NOT like 70 or more of each! I only have 31 of the AA and range finding BP's in stock....

that's something I can actually find out, sec... 1 + 4 + 8 + 13 + 19 + 26 + 34 = 105 for lvl 7 upgrade (tested on Republique's main battery)

@@FunandGameswithTerry Thanks, but holy crap! That's WAY worse than I assumed it would be! I've grinded and bought the tier 7 and 8 ships in most existing lines(except destroyers and carriers). I've had to use a lot of purple BP's to do that, which has required me to convert countless green and gold BP's to purple. If I hadn't converted any gold BPs, I'd easily have a few hundred of them saved up right now! Well, anyway, I guess it's going to be awhile before I'm able to generate 70 or so more of the AA and range finding BPs. I rarely play new ships in anything other than AI, until I've got them 90 to 100% upgraded. I've played roughly 8 Respawn battles in the past 2 nights with Alsace, with a 7-1 record afterwards. Those games bumped my Alsace XP from just over 150k to 209k.

At first I thought this beauty needed a buff Bc of all of the cons against it on paper. Once I grinded it which I tell everyone the Minnesota is a great ship, my favorite T9 an a awesome ship it self. I absolutely love my Vermont, I have the historic camo which I encourage everyone that like playing it to get it. I happened to have a lvl12 captain which I didn’t go the same at Terry I went more tank build. But with the 12 captain an the camo this beauty is amazing. I personally think this ship kinda breaks the game meta. You don’t want to get into a max range lobbing match with a Yamato. The Yamato will win. It’s best to be able to put yourself in a position to brawl with it. And don’t be like the Asian server. You know when DDs are coming switch over to the HE an. Blop them out of the water. The HE on this thing is just as good as the Thunderturd haha. Awesome review as always👍

Vermont is a dangerous ship, in the right hands. The longer they live, the more dangerous they become, just like Smolensk, due to the relatively low dpm. If I see a Vermont, especially one in historical camo, I often priority-target :)

depends on what you like: Monty = more mobile, faster reload, can switch to HE to take on a DD in a pinch, worse dispersion Vermont = low speed, slow reload, better dispersion. Ranged sniper against BBs, quite effective at that. Stay around base.

Vermont is definently an absolute nightmare for ships like alsace and izumo, both having very weak armour, vermont can godslap them to oblivion Izumo will definently have it worse though, alsace has the manuverability to dodge to some extent, izumo does not have that I might be exaggerating on this but i think if a vermont gets really lucky with their RNG, they could two-shot a poor izumo out of the match

Vermont is effective against battleships, and cruisers who don't know what they're doing. That's her niche, and she's very good at that. I've been burned down by a fully broadsiding Friesland who didn't even bother to smoke, and there was nothing I could do about it.
