World of Warships Blitz - British premium destroyer "Cossack" review

Carrying on with Royal Navy week, we're taking a look at HMS Cossack, which is a very different kind destroyer, and took me a while to get used to.

One of my favorite ships, she’s a lot of in on the “control the center” maps. I’ve found the single launcher effective in head-on aspect shots against BBs that are engaging other targets.

Yeah, you got to make the torps count. Her guns can be terrifying against other DDs, but I've struggled against German and Soviet ones, since they tend to shoot back

I use the surface detection module and use the cossack to bully dds and take caps because the guns have high damage per salvo especially when using ap. it also has sonar so i rush caps smoke up when spotted and spot the other dd taking the cap then scare them out the cap by taking big chunks of health off them and firing torps in their general direction. Its very fun. And if they try to torp you use sonar. I definity recommend trying this playstyle.

I've struggled a bit with AP on the 120s, but agreed, she's a pretty devastating gunboat, especially if your opponent tries to torp you and doesn't fire back

Thanks! It took me a while to get the hang of it - I think the first couple of games I was struggling to break 20k dmg. Smoke being a valuable consumable that you only use with great care is a pretty ingrained mindset that I had to get rid of first.

✨🇬🇧Happy royal Navy week 🇬🇧✨ Let's pray for a full royal Navy destroyer line. 2:09 well of course they did (no disrespect to anyone who's German 3:54 F in chat for the Cossack 4:17 that's true for all destroyers especially if your playing a British BB and firing HE 5:27 trust me Terry no one ever accused the Cossack of all things to be a torpedo boat.

It's almost as if imaginary ships and scantily clad anime girls were more popular for some reason XD But yeah, we got a full French BB line, who spent most of their time in port being shot at by the British before the Navy that was doing the shooting. Well, better late than never. We actually have a Daring-class destroyer in Sydney as a museum ship, I still have to figure out if I'm allowed to film there.

Also, I realised my "Jingles moment" last night when reviewing the rendered video, calling the Cossack a tier 7... that would have been surely timestamped otherwise :)

@Nick Popplewell I honestly believe that WG should've made a full British BB, DD, and CV line a long time ago. The British for hundreds of years had the greatest naval force in existence (until the US Navy decided to introduce it's self) and although the British royal Navy today is a shadow of it's former self they still maintain a seriously formidable Naval force. WG needs to stop focusing on paper ships and start working on actual ships that were built and served in the world's navies

Fun and games with Terry yeah its benson with deepwater torps so more punch against the targets you can actually hit in t8 One less gun but radar, so smart play can win duel against benson but im no dd main.. imo if your on the edge of the map playing 1vs1 you do it wrong, its your cruisers and cv job to kill dd.. your job to cripple the mainforce(bb) and shes very good at that I‘d even say its a t8 fushun.. but like i said i only play the few dd i own for fun .. hill, fushun, sims, hisiyen now .. yukikaze.. i loved akizuki and did great in it but the t9 i sucked arse with lol 😆

That's because I haven't played the Aki yet. I've been on the receiving end of one, which is probably the sole reason I'm playing Shira atm :)

Cossack or belfast? Which one should i choose, can get one of em in a current event

I haven't played the Cossack in a very long time. Belfast is a competitive CL at T7, so if you're after something you can take e.g. into a skirmish, she'd be a good choice. Cossack takes some getting used to, definitely not as easy to play, but in the end, it's a matter of preference.

I started with the enhanced torpedoes/flooding and switched to enhanced gun range.

Yeah, it's a gunboat. Torps are good to pad your damage numbers, but I usually end up doing as much damage with my guns as I do with the torps.

I really like the ripple fire torpedo capability on this ship/Minotaur and Gallant for torpedo attacks on ships at off-angles like frontal or away chase situations. You can make sure that 1 or 2 hit.
