She's really a great T10 cruiser. Very precise at long range with the skill active, and she can absolutely devastate at closer range. In a pinch, you have the torpedo power to hurt anything in the game, allowing her to hold a position. Obvious weaknesses are aircraft, but with the fast, precise gunfire she doesn't need to be too scared of HE spammers. Careless Smolensks are food, and the AP will hurt most BBs, while the armour can shrug off long-range cruiser shells for quite a while.

Terry, really enjoyed this review. I am going to grind this ship spending XP to largely skip Roon. I would like to have a tier X cruiser that is fairly well armored. I like the comment by Admiral von Tirpitz father of the modern German Fleet “The job of any warship is to stay afloat.”

Awesome review. While I was debating on my first T10, it was between the Hindenburg and the Des Moines. The Des won out which I’m happy with. Which Florida just released today and has a bundle which I’m happy with WG has started doing this more with the option of the crates but not the only way.

Terry...please consider the follow setup that dawned on me in a Eureka moment. After noticing that Prinz Eugen’s regular camo comes with -4% detection. I attempted to build a “stealth” mode to support my destroyers (and blow the enemies out of the water an near point blank rank) as well as catching battling ships off guard when a Prinz Eugen (or hipper why not) appears just 2 kilometers out side of torpedoe range ALL GUNS BLAZING!!! And will prolly let loose with 6 torps before they can turn their turrets. Obvious the -10% surface detection in slot #3 is the key, And the clean coal -3% instead of the HP will get u down to the low-mid 7s I believe. Which for those guns are point blank as far as accuracy. And often citadelle tier 8 battleships main armor belts. Either way...a ship of that power popping up on you out of nowhere at 7.5kn (let’s say) is always a rude awaking. I took out an Iowa the first time I tried it after circle through A CAP, and caught him “napping”

Terry, do you advise playing grinding Roon? I loved Amagi but hated Izumo on the grind to Yamato. In contrast I liked Baltimore. Generally, I try to build up XP to bypass tier IX ships after Izumo. Concerned about Roon rear turret configuration.

Roon is probably not as bad as her rep, but also not a great ship. She's a deviation from Hipper's playstyle, in that she doesn't have the torpedo power, and the rear-heavy layout doesn't lend itself to rushing very well. In return, Roon is very accurate at range (more so than even Hindi IMO), and playing her was a good prep for how I play Hindenburg now - accurate ranged fire in the first half, and occasional brawls during the push in the second. Roon is devastating against DDs at range, since she can usually bring most of her shells on target, and you'll do almost 1k per hit. At close range, it can be better to fire HE, and you definitely want a double steering if you're planning to knife-fight DDs. Against BBs, her AP can hurt pretty much anything besides Freddies and Curries. Kite away and rain destruction. The grind itself wasn't too bad (I've had worse), but the honour missions were a bit of a drag in the end. I generally reserve my free XP for legendary modules, so I very seldom skip over ships.

Please reflect...I have started more and more ships in game either freezing in place temporarily [could be my Internet connect] which often makes it impossible to know where the ship really is because when they reconnect they will teleport all the way to where they should be with out any intermediate steps. How do I know if these are cheaters or I should just be more understanding with the fact we are playing only and wired stuff will happen?

1 thing u admire from you and rest of the player mate? How do you place a hit for a target behind an island? QUESTION: Does the elite bonus improve the armor on the main belt and citadels in corresponding percentage to the Zitadelle and damage reduction? [in terms of likelihood of causing bonuses and semi-pens]:

I don't have any definite information on this (the actual algorithms aren't known to us). It does visibly increase the two factors in the stats, note that it's percentages, not percentage points. Damage reduction is quite straightforward, it's the percentage that alpha damage gets reduced by. Citadel protection is less clear - could be another damage reduction factor, but my theory is that it's a probability factor.

To be honest, I found them somewhat average even before the nerf. It's possible to do well in them, but I find it hard to be consistent, especially in higher tiers. German BBs are close-range brawlers, French are fast flankers with loads of firepower, USN are long-range rapids, IJN are long-range snipers, RN are HE specialists. For the Soviet line, I'm simply missing a niche - for any style they can do, there's another that can do it better. From the numbers, I see them positioned right next to the IJNs, but they lack range. They're reasonably fast, but lack dps to compete with the French.

In Vladi, what I think is the best playstyle is go up the flank but stay on your half of the map for most of the game. if you can you can move slowly inward but try to avoid that especially if there are other ships that can shoot at you as going toward the middle would cause you to be the center of attention of all the BBs, CLs and DDs. Which would render you rather dead. When it comes to missing your shells comepletely, aim lower. It sounds like you're aiming too high. The shells have strangely flat angle of approach. I say strangely because when you fire your guns the shells go up but then when reaching their target they flatten out which can cause you to overshoot. So you need to aim perfectly at the waterline if you want to get the appropriate amount of shells in. I on avg get 5-6 shell hits out of 9 in Vladi at max range without PA.

Hey Terry, do you think the increased HE penetration skill instead of the AP one for the commander is worth it? I've been watching a few PC WOW videos where Hindenburg players started going full HE, and I'm wondering if there's a similar possibility in Blitz

PC is very different in that regard. Hindi is known as an effective HE spammer on PC, but the HE alpha damage is low, and the AP is excellent to begin with here, so I would definitely go with APCS. Her 203mm AP can be quite effective, even against battleships

Hi Terry - I have an issue with the battle honors. The Last Battle honor of the Hindenburg is "unleashing the war machine". and it says to make 105.000 HP-Damage in one battle, meaning damange through fire. How is that ever possible to make in one battle? Not even in a Worcester or a Smolensk that would be possible. Did I miss something there? :)

It's not fire damage, just overall damage. HP != HE :) they mean "hitpoints".

FFS, I didn't even notice. Going frame by frame, Gearing was at 18k before the CV hit, ate three Haku torps for about 6k, and went down to ~4k health. Why on earth would you cheat on a Gearing that's not even trying to dodge, but sailing in a straight line, and as we've seen later when I take them out, hasn't enough awareness to notice a Hindi at 5km? And the Shima clearly takes 4 torps, even though we can see him dodging two. I'll post a clarification on community. Thanks for pointing that out.

Personally, I think it's an overall excellent line. Probably the hardest to play is, unsurprisingly, T9: it's a drop in manoeuvrability, torp dodging is becoming much harder, you get confronted by things like Shimas, and the meta noticeably shifts towards long-range engagements, where German ships don't really shine. This is probably why a lot of people drop off at T8. Personally, I still enjoy the Kurfürst a lot, but she does require some sense on where, when and how to push, and once you've started your rampage, it's brawl to the death, since you'll never stop that behemoth in time to dodge anything.

That entirely depends on how you like to play. I personally quite like German cruisers, for their precise & hard-hitting AP, British for being oversized smoke destroyers, American for being good support ships. Japanese are dangerous, but can't easily operate in the open, Soviets are good HE spammers. Same with French till t6, Italians are powerful gunboats as well. Also depends if you're playing alone (multirole ships, like German, British or USN) or in divisions (whatever matches your team best)

Then she was turned into a luxury passenger 'ship', filled with hydrogen, and eventually "floated" across the Atlantic ocean. It was at that moment when tragedy struck, and she was "sunk" in a fiery blaze at Lakehurst NJ on May 6, 1937(As a wise man once said, "oh, the humanity")! 😉

@@FunandGameswithTerry Supposedly they originally planned on using helium in Hindenburg, but America had kinda cornered the market on helium, and cut off the world from purchasing it in quantity, to prevent its use in military applications. It was/is extracted as a by product of natural gas production. So the Germans had to reengineer the Hindenburg for hydrogen. But after the loss of the Hindenburg, America briefly changed their minds, and decided to set up a contract to sell helium to Germany for non-military use. But before the contract was signed, the Germans annexed Austria, and our secretary of the interior tore up the contract. I still don't understand how our govt allows helium to be WASTED on silly party balloons, considering its an element, with finite reserves that can't be replaced. Btw, the Hindenburg actually had a smoking lounge, even being filled with hydrogen! The smoking lounge was internally pressurized to keep hydrogen out, and had an air proof double door entry way!

Terry PLEASE!!! I beg u on my knees!! Explain to me the WoW designers rational for giving all German Battleships and Cruisers a Large AA radius of only 3.3km [except for Grosser Kurfürst]?? Especially in light of that fact that at least into terms of ballistic qualities the German 8.8cm SK/ C33, the 10.5cm SK/ C33, and finally the big daddy, 12.8cm SK/ C3[?, the L/61, just too lazy to look it up right now]. Historical all of these were more accurate and had a longer BALLISTIC effective range [including the worst] than the west’s best [aka the 127mm L/38, LOLOLOL!!! I am sorry about bursting into laughter].

I think u made a big mistake on your elite bonus my brother (humbly). By choosing the 20% traverse, you could have left slot 1 wide open for either -5% to reload (if u wish). OR!!! -7% dispersion for long range sniping (even when combine with -3% from “roar of steel”) and commander skill point 3 (-3% until some beats you over the head at least), so right there your basically on permanent precise aim 1! Lol(-13% vs 15). Once U click that precise aim 2 button. “INCOMMING!!!” Remember, at the end of the day it’s not a BB, and forgetting your position and role in the team will not only get you killed. But much worse. Your get the rare honor of chance your friends die because of your mistakes. Do not ask how I know. Just accept the fact that switching places with them would be the easy way out.

The mid-tier lights are great. Yorck is very good as well, once you understand her. Hipper is a very good T8 heavy. Roon can be a bit of a pain, but is good practise for the more deliberate style needed for Hindenburg.
