The problem is "stay with your team", they are generally much faster than you, so either a) they run away from you and get killed before you get there b) when enemies appear on horizon, your team just runs away leaving you a lone sitting duck in shooting gallery for enemies. Sometimes it's not really in your power to help your team if they don't want to get helped....
@ichasegaming8 жыл бұрын
Do the best you can :P if team vanishes, apply rules 2-5 and go from there.
@miskatonic62107 жыл бұрын
PetrSojnek 1.) Other BBs aren't faster than you 2.) If other ships run too far away from you it's their mistake, because they lose your support and you can do nothing about it anyway All you can do is show your team you will draw fire for them. If you take the damage and use your HP your team will be effective. Your cruisers will very often die first when the BBs refuse to take damage and don't push...
@fatherofwar12036 жыл бұрын
I aim to keep cruisers within about 10km. I consider that a range at which I can support them. Reasons being if they feel the need to retreat I'm relatively close. And that friendly cruiser doesn't need to close the full 10km between us since my guns have a longer range. If it's another BB shooting then you can dodge quite easily in a cruiser, and if it's another cruiser you'll be able to shoot at them too before your friendly cruiser has closed the gap. You're unlikely to kill anything more than a thousand fish at max range, but saturation fire from you and that cruiser is probably enough that one of you will hit or you'll scare him off.

a couple point: Damage control should be used whenever you expect the next fire/flood would be after the CD. best time to use repair is when you're actually taking damage. don't sail in a straight line. don't "poke" out of an landmass; turn away from it bow on - fire forward guns - angle - fire rear guns - bow on - fire forward guns ............. fire in salvos, especially in range - it increases the chance of some hit versus no hit for dodging shells, turning in should be accompanied by slowing down, turning out should be accompanied by acceleration if making a run, don't hit reverse, full speed ahead, angle your ship 45 degrees to the enemy, wait for a salvo, full rudder turning out immediately, you should be at 45 degrees at least when enemy finish reloading don't bother angle your ship to the enemy whose guns are not pointing at you, if fact you should be matching the angle (so the two ships are parallel) for optimum dispersion. never chase, even if your name is ichase.

+iChaseGaming You forgot one important point in you list: "Learn from your mistakes!" For example at 19:16 you can see in chat, that the enemy BB (Eldanari) that got deleted a few moments ago says: "I deserved that" He clearly accepted that it was his fault and didn't blame the team for it like most other players do. I'm pretty sure the next couple of games he didn't repeat this misplay. :)

Hey i really like your videos keep up the good work i want to clarify some stuff i have with you. 1. Should DD's always push for caps even if the enemy is amassing at that point and you know you cant hold it. I've seen a lot of DD's do it and get rekt. 2. Does the distance to a target affect the performance of AP shells and chance to hit the citadel. 3. Sometimes i get heavy damage from long range even when im heavily angled to them. how on earth 4. I use cruisers ( American tier VI ) and on average i land around 70 - 80 + shells on target but my damage done is not that great roughly around 20k - 40k. I use HE and use AP only when the target in is decently in close range i can hit a citadel. Hoping for a reply :)
@ccau816 жыл бұрын
Glen Owin one time while I was in my gneisenau I was with 1 DD and 2 CAs. There were 2 Battleships in front of us that weren't supported. I told to the ships around me that I will push if they come with me or not. The DD accepted to support me for our push and the CAs just camped near te spawn. The DD and me killed the 2 battleships but the DD died just before te death of the second one. So... DDs can push yes if they are supported. And for the AP shells in the real life the shells do lose penetration capabilities with the distance. Ex. a tank with a penetration of 200mm at 200m wich is at 1km from a Tiger 2 will pratically never penetrate him at this distance while if he was closer yes. So yes it can increase or decrease your chances of hitting the citadel. You can overpen or make a right hit, notice that sometimes you can hit a citadel while it's an overpen.

I think one of the major problems is noone wants to push or brawl anymore due to the overwhelming number of vessels that carry torpedoes. Everyone just seems to sit at standoff range and throw ineffective shots at each other.
@maximilianvonspee93298 жыл бұрын
I would also throw in German cruisers as ones to angle against. Hipper Roon and Hindenburg can really hurt you if you're broadside regardless of what you're sailing. Might not be citadels but in an Iowa taking 8-9k AP volleys every 10 seconds or so isn't something you can keep up for long
@miskatonic62107 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should show games that aren't easy to win for you, as you are in a top tier BB with another Yamato on your side. There's not a lot to learn from this match, as there is almost no threat for you. And during the only tricky situations you're making mistakes. Like not targeting the DD close to you first and kill the Amagi instead. The DD was the serious threat and took you and the other BB out, he could have been killed with a single salvo earlier. The Amagi couldn't get away anyway. You're pushing all the time and at no time you had to make a decision and change course...so it just isn't a good replay to learn from, as you don't need skill for a match like this. Better chose a game in a weaker ship showing effectiveness of angling, drawing fire, pushing and retreating to turn a close game.

I agree with the notion of staying with your team all the time, with a few exceptions. Sometimes both teams are stalemated bow-in to each other. If you have a fast battleship (Iowa or NC comes to mind), and you use islands to conceal your intentions, you can sweep around one flank and get into a position were you have the other team's broadsides to shoot at. I have racked up some crazy scores doing this.

summary of tips for people like me with short attention spans: 1. Stay with your team / don't get separated from the group 2. Stay angled / use autobounce to your advantage 3. Use AP all the time unless you can't overmatch another BB's armor , use HE sparingly 4. Manage damage control party properly i.e. wait until you've got 2 or more fires burning 5. Plan ahead / plan for next steps i.e. gun angles, maneuvering, cover, etc

Thanks for the video Chase! I was expecting this one. It's also worth noting that sometimes you *might* have to go solo on things simply because the rest of your team doesn't care enough. Example: North map. the D cap in the eastern most part. I played TONS of matches where my team simple forgets that cap and goes the other direction. The few times I took upon myself to to go there and cap the damn flag (and kick a destroyer around when I find one) we got a very comfortable lead and advantage (since I would get flanking shots on the enemy). I would not recommend doing that, since a DD with high enough skill can make your day suck horribly, but if you have enough confidence to do that, well, it is against what Chase says, but what he said is not a "be all end all" thing, but rather very good rules of thumb.

Chase, you're right that you should never be alone in a BB. But is having reliable teammates something you really have control over? Playing WoWS solo as a BB can be a trying experience in this regard. So often I THINK I have support, but my allies turn tail and run at the first sign of danger, hanging me out to dry. So while I agree with your tip, it's not really a "skill;" it's just luck of the draw whether you get a team that meaningfully supports you. Second, angling is a great skill. But again, it assumes that you're fighting other BBs who also fire AP. Against the myriad firebreathing CA/CLs and torp-spamming invisible DDs, angling means nothing. I often make the mistake of thinking WoWS is a solo game. It isn't. So much depends on having a team with you. I rarely lose 1-on-1 brawls with other BBs (which I find to be the most fun part of the game, period). But it's rare to have that opportunity.
@torenico6 жыл бұрын
Hey amazing video! I just unlocked my first BB, Kawachi, and went solo against two St. Louis and just killed one, but I was obliterated anyways. I sure hope that people would change their "snipe" behavior ..
@anlize34228 жыл бұрын
I agree, but there's that point: BBs aren't very nimble, so it is very risky to lead the charge without a DD or a cruiser screening for torps. It sucks when you are leading a push and get done in by a torpedo wall from a DD you had no idea it was there. Also there's the whole focus fire thing. BBs hate being set on fire, but they will tolerate it if the team gets behind then and support by killing the CL/CA/DDs that are setting then on fire while they tank. BB drivers tend to fall back to sniping when they don't feel confident on the team. Of course, I might be dead wrong, but as a BB driver I noticed that pattern on other BB drives (that kind of doesn't apply to me because I'm an idiot that keeps charging ahead wanting to brawl).
@akitsushima_14538 жыл бұрын
I play all of the classes so I could say that I'm familiar with all of the play style. And, I kind of notice a pattern. When I play CA, no BBs support. When I play BB, no CA/DD support.
@andrstn8 жыл бұрын
You can always use a division to get some nice coordination going even if it's just 3 people. I don't find I'm having problems with torps from unseen DDs though it's more that i get focused with HE and nobody is there to support and eventually die to fires if i try to push ahead so i usually just sit where the cruisers and DDs decide to screen, basically letting them decide how i move. Edit: What classifies as sniping is staying at your max gun range to move out of detection from the enemy as soon as someone starts shooting you, I rambled about something unrelated, that is pushing at the same time. People don't follow you when you push half the time.
@akitsushima_14538 жыл бұрын

Its a bit of an old video, but should I use the repair control party before taking a huge salvo? (considering I'm already hit and I know the incoming shells are gonna hurt) So I can get a bit more repair out of it? How should I keep up with the rest of the team if their faster than me? And should I consider protecting the carrier's on my team? Because rushing in with your team ins't gonna work all the if you can get shot from multiple sides, I think you should reconsider battleships as for long range cover while the cruisers and destroyers do the spotting and the dirty work of the frontline.

Ha rule one gets broken right out of the gate with my teams, I follow a group into an area only for them to turn around and ditch me at the first sign of danger leaving me to put-put far behind them. Rule two is also a bust as I have been ripped apart by other battleships even two tiers below me regardless if I'm "bow in" or "angled". Rule three I have no argument save for the fact that, again battleships even at a lower tier than me, majority of my rounds seem to bounce or shatter off of everything I fire at. This also includes destroyers and cruisers, provided that my rounds even land on them in the first place due to lovely "dispersion". Four is just a given. In regards to five, I try to have a "master plan" but as the expression goes when punched in the face. This one ties into rule one also as pointed out before, I go in well defended only to find myself all alone facing off with two enemy battleships and three cruisers with no way to turn around so as to not expose my broadside to them.
@DanTKD876 жыл бұрын
Yes thank you, exactly my thouggts!
@lordraven19916 жыл бұрын
Ok, quick update on my previous statements and frustrations. On the point of "dispersion" to be precise, I just completed a round of WoW's on a random battle, resulting in 96 rounds fired resulting in only 9 hit targets. That's a less than ten percent accuracy rating with a ship some have said to have "good guns". I always find videos done by KZbinr's explaining how to be a better team player recorded with them using the highest tiered ship of any line with at least one friend in a division with them.
@nono79476 жыл бұрын
another reason why you should stick with your team, especially if you're in a big battleship, is that you will become a beacon, let's say a cruiser approaches you, and they are a scout for the enemy team, well, thing is, you now have enemy battleships approaching you as-well, and you are currently being sniped from distant ships, and because of the size of the battleship *well really depends* you can't escape, and normally, experienced players don't go into battleships on one angle, they surround you, especially if you're the Yamamoto

How to battleship (according to noobs): 1. Stay in the back trying to snipe at 15-25 km while far behind the rest of your team and never go for objectives because that's where the DD's and CA's of your team are supposed to die. 2. Stay close to islands without support because DD's don't like to hide behind islands and won't even think about sneaking up on you. 3. Sail in straight lines and show broadside to enemies so it's easier for you to aim 4. Don't pay attention to the minimap, no important information can be found there 5. And most importantly, rage in the chat about how the rest of your team consists of noobs for dying or how torpedoes and fires are OP. Bonus points if you push your allies out of their smoke because you as the bigger ship have a right to claim it, or make it impossible for your allies to torp the enemy by being in the way

They did more damage to me than the enemy did. I should have known that I don't need to go bow in all the time, it's a bit of a bad newbie habit. Same with the damage control I get way too trigger happy with that. I'm getting better at planning ahead though, and at aiming and using the minimap. Practice makes perfect, though I'm a bit of a slow learner so I need a lot of practice.

I'm doing fairly well in my BBs. One issue I'm having is overpens on cruisers. Especially German ones. Lead is good, land center of the hull and very often, ding ding ding, 2-3 overpens, no pen, no citadel, lame damage. Anything I'm overlooking here ?

the problem with "AP everything" is the over match mechanic ie. you limit the damage you can

(Yah-mahtoh)......... (Yah-mah-Toh). Japanese does not accent certain syllables above others. Great video with good info. Still bothered by Americans who can't pronounce names (especially famous names) correctly. Yes, I am American too, and I will happily rail on our horrendous pronunciation of anything.

by experience (tier IV-VII) IMO I would not Recommend using AP against DDs. more often than not you would be over penetrating, dealing minimum damage. Using HE on DDs is a sure way to disposed of them fast. Plus if not killed with one salvo surely with HE you will damage several modules, torpedo tubes, main guns, etc... or better yet disable the rudder.

I feel like no matter how much I try to follow your advice, I still get wrecked. No matter how much I try to angle, they find a way to do light to moderate damage or find a way to take me on at least 3 to 1 and find my broadside. No matter how much I try to travel with the rest of the team, the other players seem to single me out in particular. I'm starting to get the feeling I'm just not that good at this game.

Hi for new mexico, what upgrades modification should I choose? I chose: - main armaments modification 1 - damage control system modification 1 - - steering gears modification 2 Need some recommendation for the third one and others if there are any better ones.

Go to the Wiki guide for WOWS. Excellent reviews of all the ships in the game, and recommendations for upgrades, consumables and captain skills for each one. Also gives the strengths and weaknesses of each. Some even have video showing what to do and not do.

i have a question, sometimes when you stay angled youre forced to move towards the entire enemy force, at this point of time if your team behind you starts to retreat, what should you do? especially for ships like nagato with only 4 turrets able to bear from the front.

Any tips for the terrible New York? struggling to play it compared to the Wyoming, has terrible accuracy, not as much range, its slow, middle turret isn't much consolation when compared to the Kongo anyway...
@ichasegaming8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, New York is tough, try using terrain as cover, stick with the fleet and try ur best not to use the middle gun, exposes you too much.

thanks iChaseGaming , ill try do my best :) I find it funny that I love the Myogi, average damage 60k in it haha

Wait until the colorado, it's been really hard for me xD
@galliman1238 жыл бұрын
Snyfox8 TBH I think the Colorado will be better, the player stats for it suggest so too. NY has 47.50% WR, 3rd lowest on SEA server, only Izumo and Myogi are worse (and I do really well with the myogi)

All of the US BB's prior to T8 have soft noses but vey thick belts. Never go bow on, learn how to angle your side armor to bait the enemy to shoot at it and bounce shells. Also the slow US BB's have to stay relevant in the battle. You can't go too far to one flank, you can't do complex manuevers, you can't overcomit. Stay relevant to the battle at all times.

Question, why isn’t HE good against DDs. Doesn’t AP always over pen?
@joelkp11853 жыл бұрын
Funny thing that I actually give kudos to war gaming.net for is that the console version honestly looks better than the pc version.Mostly it’s the other way around for most games, with pc getting all the game while console players only get what’s left over

where to aim when shooting at german BB? i know waterline doesnt work(learnt that the hard way, colorado against full broadside afk konig 5km away, full salvo 8 shells 5 or 6 hits 0 penetration). should i be shooting super-structure or deck?
@ezpz_1836 жыл бұрын
Aim for the superstructures and you could still aim waterline if they're nice enough to present you a broadside. KMS BBs still take huge damage from that.

Using HE against DD is way better, at least if you know its coming and you'll have to deal with them. With HE you get much more consistent damage, AP overpens and doing 1k damage doesnt helps you at all. Other factor for HE is high module(s) damage and high probability of fire. With few hits from high caliber guns and support from secondaries, you can cripple DD badly, leave him burning and immobilized for other ships, if you dont delete him instantly.

The first battle with the Yamato: Did your and nevers earnings cover the repair/maintenance costs? I think that in the higher tiers BB captains are playing that defensive-camper-playstyle because of the high repair costs...
@ichasegaming8 жыл бұрын
Well, if you're playing high tiers you can't expect to really make credits. All WG games are designed this way, high tiers cost credits, low tiers make credits to fund the high tiers. I think with premium account I made a 160k credits on that battle. N3V3R i think lost some though
