Also the range of the Top tier guns is quite ridiculous, since they only had 2 km less range in RL (36.8km at 33° vs 38.7km at 45° on 16" Mk7s on Iowa), here in the game the difference is a staggering 5 km . . . . wtf??? And why does the Gneisenau have less cit armour then the Scharnhorst? One mor ething? whats with the shitty torp protection? Despite teh design flaw at the rudders, german battleships had exellent torpedo protection. Dives towards the bismark showed no damage beyond the torp buldges on her despite being hit multiple times during her last stand

wolfsruhm Actually, there is an explanation for the bizarre ranges ingame. WG has said that they calculate the ranges of the ships based on their mast height. AKA the higher the ship, the longer the range (combined with what the guns can do on their own). Radar targeting is not taken into account. Which is why Japanese battleships get such high ranges from such low tiers. Their Pagodas are fuck huge. German Battleships are not that tall, hence the range. I think.

Thats what i was thinking, Tons of secondaries, faster firing guns, torps at teir 7, and very good deck armor. All is subject to change, but I'm worried. I'm still going for them anyway.

with that answer your expecting secondaries to have a range of 6km or less... im sure they countered those by increaseing them from t7 onward to base of 7km start just to counter the lack of torpedo belt armor.. so i believe a full secondary build is needed for the ships to effectively have close to 10km range o.o

Good rudder shift time is one thing. The problem is that these high tier german BBs dont turn even with full rudder :D The best way to avoid torps in these things is propably to turn and hit the brakes. But that will only help for the first salvo. After that u are dead in the water. If you wanna brawl the USN BBs still seem to be better. Even the Izimo will be better at that... My impressions so far. But hey! Maybe they change some aspects and it wont be as bad as i fear.

What the hell is WG thinking with the T9 and T10? Granted, the T3-T8 BBs look quite adequate stats-wise, but at this point, the Friedrich der Große and Großer Kurfürst look like giant (have you seen the size of them?) floating turds. I mean for one thing, given their sizes, one would think that they would at least have a sizable amount of HP. BUT NO! The fucking gargantuan Großer Kurfürst has ONLY 88K, AND a next to worthless torpedo belt! Look, I realize this is all subject to change, but the fact that these ships are being tested with their current stats suggests that SOMEONE at WG thought it was a good idea. No wonder they didn't let community contributors voice their opinions. This is just fucking mental.

except the T10 was recently changed to 105k health, which is a LOT more adequate, and Bismarck, FdG and GK all get German Hydroacoustic of the equivalent tier cruisers so they are very very goot at dodging torps and pushing pesky smokes. Doesn't make GK an amazing ship yet, but sure helps, and gives them a nice unique feature.

Technically speaking, it was the Iowa class that had the most accurate fire control system, the US led the field in mechanical ballistic computers, but then again, the entire line up of Iowa class battleships NEVER saw action against enemy capital ships because the US was too afraid to lose them during the war, they spent more time as a form of really really expensive artillery to fire inland then anything else.

Eh, Jingles understands it's how Americans see the British, geographically and sometimes culturally. There are plenty of Americans who detest the Eastern bloc and SE Asians tendency to lump us in with Europeans as "The West", after all. In the cases where Americans are aware that some of the British are irritated by being referred to as "Europeans", that's the perfect excuse for us to give Brits a good ribbing ;P It's always funnier to tickle the sensitive spots.

I like Jingles' amusing humor, but I wouldn't go quite that far :P I used to wonder if Rita would affect his entertainment value negatively - all too often, good "chaps" are ruined by bad women, or the males fall prey to modern feminism by losing their balls. But Rita seems alright, being a genuine gamer herself, and Jingles hasn't lost his verve. It won't last forever, but as long as he enjoys it, he'll be productive. If he's productive, he's worth watching.

Montana were designed as slightly enlarged Iowa class (extra turret added on her back), when H series (especially last ones) would be more or less a floating CITIES making Bismarck looking like Hipper class.

So, summarising: the German battleships are fine up to and including Bismarck, but the Tier 9 and 10 have serious problems...it's especially weird about the inaccurate guns, given that even the Admiralty commented on the extreme accuracy of Kreigsmarine gunnery!

I see no way this will ever happen, because when you get stuck in with a Battleship, a destroyer will stick you with a few torps, and since they refuse to give them proper protection against Torps... welll...

Gneisenau in game represents its completed 1945 state. After it suffered crucial damage, it was decided to generally re-build the ship. The Scharnhorst-style guns were to be replaced by the 380mm guns in 3 dual turrets instead of the guns in 3 triplet turrets.

So Bismarck doesn't take torpedos well... That's interesting considering how it was the battleship class that took torpedo hits the best. Comparison: Tirpitz gets hit by a Tallboy: 800 tons of water flows into the bow of the ship. Yamato gets hit by a single 227kg bomb (at Leyte): 3,000 tons of water flows into the bow of the ship. Musashi gets hit by a single torpedo: 4,000 tons of water flows into the bow of the ship. Littorio gets hit by an air-dropped torpedo: 1,600 tons of water flows into the bow of the ship. Roma has 2 near misses from 908kg AP bombs: 2,350 tons of water flows into the bow of the ship. What the actual Fuck Wargaming?!

Shaw Fujikawa The point is, that the Tallboy blew up outside the torpedo belt, ripped a 30 meter hole into the Tirpitz's bow armor and she still only took 800 tons of water which is nothing compared to the others. While it might not be one it also does a LOT more damage than torpedo. You can't really flood German BBs without multiple well placed hits.

Remember people, if you just look at the stats then the Tirpitz citadel armor doesn't look so tough either... but it has that nice turtledeck armor scheme which isn't counted in these stats. And so do ALL the german BBs, if WG modeled them correctly. :3

So, they had to use the Bismark/Tirpitz Class to make the first tier8 premium everyone wants to buy because reasons. And then they have to come up with some crap thats 1.5 times bigger than the biggest BB ever built, because Bismark as Tier10 wouldnt make sense because they made the Tirpitz Tier 8. WG at its finest i´d say.

Bismark wouldn't remotely compete as a tier 10 BB. What we got for T10 was the H-41 with a rough sketched prototype of a triple turret sent to Russia for a possible contract to produce them for Russian battleships so it doesn't only carry 8 guns.

Wargaming took ships who were known for having good armor, lower caliber but long range and accurate guns and put them into the game with not so good armor, low speed and lower calibre guns with less accuracy and short range? They compleatly missed the point of the German Imperial Navy right there :D The WW2 BBs on the other hand do sound a lot better (historical speaking) but i just cant shake the feeling that WG just wanted some Brawlers in the game and happened to look at a german flag :D I am fine with german BBs beeing brawlers and all but whats the point when you dont give them what they really need to brawl ^^ So far the USN and the IJN BBs seem to do their jobs better than the germans ^^

Except a decent torpedo belt. You CAN'T brawl when it means every DD in the match gets to shoot you with two full barrages of torpedoes before you even get with brawling range. I mean massive surface detection range, no maneuverability, AND the worst torpedo belt tier for tier? Nothing but DD bait. WASD hack does you no good when your turning radius is an entire kilometer at full rudder.

From what range? At long range you don't have to get throug a lot of armor since the deck armor is pretty bad against plunging fire, a Nagato can Citadel Tirpitz at 16 km range, no problemo.

Simple question - how do you know that what Jingles stated were the restrictions for this video, was actually what WGEU told him was allowed? If you don't know for a fact what WGEU actually told him, it could very well be this video is 100% legit with them, and Jingles purposely did the video in this way just to troll all the people who are screaming bloody murder over his NDA comments. Seriously, too many people are acting as if he gave away the launch codes for Strategic Air Command, instead of talking about pixel ships in a half-arsed FPS video game.

Not twice as big it tue forced percpetive in game that increases the visual difference, Yamato is 263 meters long and Kurfürst is about 305 meters long.

Two, medium sized cannons of portugeuse original/manufacture. With two rear gun turrets for some action at the back. There is also a small and "tightly" spaced hanger situated just forward of the rear gun turrets. It's a fairly young ship and quite spritely, adequate to take out big cannons onboard old battleships.

I think this has nothing to do with Wehraboo, it is just the fact, that they kinda missed the point. Balancing is one thing but THIS is some sort of....bullshit, why make a T10 that is the biggest one in the game with lower HP and bigger turning circle a shitty torpedobelt and this low amount of HP? Also the firing range of the T9...srsly? If they were at least somehow accurate it would be okay but in this case it is far away from balaced....

Hey Jingles, thanks for the preview. Most of the stuff I sort of knew or expected, but the one thing that I really loved was unfortunately only shown once. How much a given ship bleed power in a turn. You have been the only content creator to chime in on this aspect now and then. To me powerbleed is one of the most important stats that are invisible to us until we actually play them. It can make an otherwise fast and maneuverable ship have a issue with turning around. If it bleeds to much speed in the turn, it doesn't really matter if the circle is small, the rudder is fast or the ship is fast... It will take an eon to reverse course. I have found that the ships that bleeds the least power (to a degree; Colorado bleeds very little) are the ones I prefer. But I can't see the stat anywhere. So thank you for mentioning this now and then, when nobody else does (that I know of at least).

König is better armoured. Just worse in pretty much every other respect and König still has to deal with the fact that Kongo either is out of range, is at long range and hard to hit or that the 305 mm (König actually is the highest tier battleship to use that caliber) may just not cut it against even the poor armour of a Kongo, if angled. Kongo-players who have even just two functioning braincells are most likely a real pain to deal with. I don't even want to know what happens if it meets a Fuso or New Mexico.

Looks like they took the size from the H44 for that thing, though the forums seem to be identifying Kurrywurst as H41, which was only 21m longer than Yamato. H44 is said to have been a design the size of the Queen Mary II and would have made Yamato look like a DD by comparison, with its 50.8cm guns.

A historical note: The Gneisenau was in the process of being re-armed with 380mm guns when Hitler, in a fit of rage over the German failure at the Battle of the Barents Sea (31 December 1942) that he ordered all construction work on surface ship in the Kreigsmarine to be halted. Turrets Bruno and Ceasar had already been removed and transferred to Norway as coastal defence batteries. Turret Ceasar is still there at Fort Austrått in Trondheim, Norway. It's now a museum. Likewise, her 150mm secondaries were moved to Denmark, also as Coastal defence batteries.

Apparently someone at Wargaming misread the specs of the SMS Grosser Kurfürst. Per Wikipedia, it is ONLY 575.5 feet long vs 863 feet for the Yamato.
