What I see here is tactical advantage : you have your own controllable reco planes. You can spot what's happening behind an island to help a push and to increase the situation awareness of your team, you can check an area for DD's or subs while the CV is striking elsewhere. It's the intelligence it can give to the team that is the real strong point of the ship imo. I see it as a team support oriented ship. ^^

First one I saw was yesterday, there was two on the opposite team and double CVs in the battle, so essentially 4 CVs on the opposite team. I didn’t last long in my T-61 DD, but according to WG’s spreadsheet, it was “balanced” and I had “fun”…

As a IJN main i'm super glad we got such unique ship! And this will open the door for other potential ships with similar role such as IJN Tone (which we already know it is coming), IJN Oyodo and/ or IJN Mogami after converted into hybrid and possibly other blueprint designs.

I've seen 4 Ise in my team. And they all agreed to specifically target the enemy CV. one of the teammate's chat basically said : "Those poor Ryujos(enemy CV)". The enemy's right flank basically folded since their DD & Cruisers can't survive getting gangbanged by basically 5 squadrons of torpedo bombers, even with their anemic damage it's still 20+ criss-crossing torpedos. This thing will get rebalanced sooner or later.

@@drink15 those 4 ISEs were grouped in 2 two-man division. It's just absurd, eventhough their AP salvo damage was sub-par to okay-ish throughout the match, they basically wrecked havoc on advancing DDs and they relieve the pressure on fellow teammate's CV planes, DDs and cruiser.

The torp drop shaved 10k off my bismark last night. And it is the fdr mass torp spread style drop, so chances are you need to pop damage con on a flood. It is rough.

My best game allone in Ise was 100k. Tbh, the ship is a lot of fun to play, I don't play like a CV, I just use my planes whenever I'm undetected or just angled enough to take minimal damage. Situational awareness is key, if you see low health ships trying to escape and going dark, you can hunt them down with your planes, you can hunt DDs and hunt CVs effectively and you couldn't really do that with a BB before. I'd say the Ise is the best and most fun premium they made in a long time. Also AA is pretty damn good for T6, had a game with 2 T6 CVs and I shot down 60 planes^^.

Yeah exactly. The planes are great for the enemy ships who try to run away from you with 100 hp left. It has good aa, and the armor is Fuso armor on the front which is not bad too. Furthermore the Fuso guns.

I picked it up and I actually had a lot of fun in it. I didn't do incredibly well but I did better than anybody else in an Ise in that match, of which there were plenty, lol. I was able to get a squadron off RIGHT before I sank and was able to scout with it the rest of the match. Helped my team track down the other team's last DD. Good times. I'm not a big carrier fan but adding something a little different to my BB play was certainly a welcomed change.

She's not at all bad to play and does not feel overpowered (unless the enemy team does not have a cv or another Ise). Then, the problem brings back memories of the old MM when teams would sometimes only have one carrier on one side. I enjoy playing the Ise, but I have yet to get uptiered in her.

With Ise, you should prioritize torping things like cruisers, DDs, and CVs. They tend to have less torp damage reduction, and as such the torps don't feel as anemic. The BBs will also die of their own accord anyways.

I end up top of the leaderboard in T8 games no problem. Try brawling with it. You would be surprised, you can create your own crossfire, force the enemy to turn and nail them with your guns. If you sit behind an island all game like in the vid, no wonder you get no damage. I only played 8 games so far but my average damage is 76k, WR is 88% and my highest dmg is 140k. This thing is amazing.

It is worth noting that the Ise (for some reason) has insane levels of AA for its tier - both continuos damage and flak clouds. I imagine it will be almost impossible to get a drop on a triple division if they are closely lined up.

My Nagato took a triple citadel from one of these while angled today. I think it has too much hp. I had one on my team run into me and my ship got stuck on the corner of its flight deck for about three minutes. Couldn't reverse off him and he seemed to want to drag my Tirpitz across the map.

Interesting stuff. Just a thought from when you were doing a torp run slightly behind the other person. When you come in 2nd should you not come at the ship more from a head on direction due to the ship captain going to be turning from the other players torps? When you drop from the other side they are already turning away from your torps to avoid the first lot. Let me know how I'm wrong though by all means. :~)

I think you are right. Cross dropping would definitely be the more effective way. But SLM has even said himself that CV's aren't really his forte, so there's no need to expect any unicum plays.

Not the way how to play the Ise and only risking their team losing, why ? First of all its torpedo bomber conisted of only 4 aircraft and die quickly if you attacking a enemy fleet with combined AA power, Secondly you can get just a little of over 10k damage from all 8 torps hit, try to land 8 torps on something is rather difficult, And third is that playing a BB as a CV means their team lack a battleship to support them and instead having a ineffective ''CV'' that can not do damage for shit.

Imagine playing double Ise div and coordinating drops, but not cross droping :D Anyway, nice video. I think WG might have finally managed to make a ship with attacking planes that is more or less balanced. She seems quite strong for late game, as you can hit and detect running and hiding ships, and even DD's that might get otherwise impossible to detect unless they screw up.

I just got the ISE in a Santa package. When looking at the Citadel, your skipped over the Casement. I'm a casual player, but I see the Casement as 299mm at the waterline and 199mm above that. That seems... substantial?

I finally tried this ship, there is something bugged with the aerial torpedoes, It says it has a 17% chance to flood, plus I run the flag to increase it to 19.55%. I have landed 45 consecutive torpedo hits while target has "no" damage control activated and "no" existing floods and I have caused 0 floods! 45 - 0 with no dam-con and existing floods, is it broken or am I missing something?

wow i cant believe u had as much trouble as u seems to have had playin with this ship... but CV's do not seem to be a strong point for you. I play CV's and Cruisers almost exclusively these days.... So when i got this ship today it felt very good as a combo for me... i love the ability to send out a sortie and then to switch back to my long range deck guns. they fire faster than my North Carolina and allows me to get quite a few shots while i wait for my next sortie... matches when i play usually last 6-9 minutes so im lucky if i get 3 sorties before the game ends... yea ive not had any struggles as of yet with how she is set up to play.... feels like a great marriage of skills tbh....

Biggest weakness in this ship is it has no depth charge airstrike for subs. This ships has little protection from subs. Its very frustrating and i think the good sub players know this as they always make a bee line for me when i play it. I have yet to sink a sub in close proximity. I brought this to WOWs attention but they gave me the standard balance cut & paste answer not to expect any changes. Well my change is sending her to my reserve fleet for now. Its a shame as she is fun to play. You have to ask yourself would any sane commander not include depth charge air strike capability? Best you can do is spot the sub and hope your team mates fire on the sub. Another solution would allow for the torp squadron to drop off a spotter/fighter so you could use your main battery while the sub was spotted.

Clear your cookies. It *could* be an issue with the browser you use (chrome does this shit to me occasionally and clearing cookies does seem to mitigate the issue.) Also remove your card from the site, and manually type it in each time. prolly an issue there too. Full disclosure, these are shots in the dark mostly going from personal experience.

It's cool to see interesting and historical ships in game. It's NOT cool how WG has implemented carriers in game. Carriers should be able to attack each other. This makes sense from a gameplay perspective. Just like in a ground game, artillery can do counter-artillery gameplay or how a sniper can do counter-sniper, etc. CV being protected from attack for 95% of the match in 99% of matches is broken.

It seems like they nailed the real world Ise: a compromise that does neither role great. Ise was designed to be a front line attack ship that could sortie planes to attack Allied island bases and bombard them with shells if lightly defended. In reality the battle carriers were never used the right way by Japan.

I don’t have the ship but it seems overpowered to me. The planes seem almost indestructible plus they all regenerate. Ise ship AA is high which makes it hard to counterattack with a cv. I only have the ranger but 2 torps per attack run seems pathetic in comparison. Traditional cv torps seem limited to attacking bb. Ise spread of 8 torps makes it a better hunter against cruisers and even dd hiding in smoke. Ise also seems very well armored, long ranged and small dispersion for its Tier.

The IJN wanted to historically convert Ise and Hyuga into full-fledged aircraft carriers. Due to a lack of materials and money (and America's unrestricted submarine campaign) that plan was rejected in favor of what we are seeing now which I like.

It's not even necessary to play with a friend, even with some1 else in the same team, and top tier, it's broken AF, you just need to say to the other guy, hey let's focus X player, and that's it; played a few games against her and got fkn wrecked, without being able to do shit against them, they need to put her in the same category as CV, just 1 per battle, if not, at top tier, easily can dominate a game, easily. But hey, tier 4 and 5... great AA, what WG can do to help them, I know let's put more planes!!!

Maybe WG are going to either introduce SSMs and or SAMs soon....Unfair advantage if the enemy has a Ise and your team doesn't and there is no CV. Pre hybrid Ise not and issue. But this is just another CV and each team should have one for balance. So Rock paper scissors and then hand grenade as an option.....

It's learning to synergize the components of the ship to work as one; apart everything is underpowered... Until synergy is reached. Granted 40-50k is my average (slowing going up the longer I play) All the issues of this ship..... It's LEGIT...... Really..... Especially handling like a bus.... Fun ship: hell YEAH! easy ship???? Not really no.....

The ship is historical but the planes are completely made up. The real Ise carried dive bombers, not torpedo bombers. The planes it carries ingame are fictional variants of the plane designed for the I-400 submarines.

@@jaywerner8415 theyre incredibly weak torps. I think the damage is similar to the PEU torps, but without the flood chance. In addition IJN planes are made out of paper so you're probably only dropping ~4-6 at a time, depending on what you're attacking

@@ibnu9969 I just looked at the numbers, T6 vasteras torps do 7.5K each when fully upgraded, wheras Ise torps do 2.7K each. In addition, vasteras has the advantage of stealth firing and a higher flood chance, plus the torpedos can't be shot before launch like Ise's planes can. I honestly can't really say its worth trying to create a crossfire, since its better for any BB to just eat them
