You need to slow down when dropping bombs, it decreases the angle at which you hit and increases penetration.

I saw Malta in a match and I had a radar Mino. I thought to myself "Cool. Another CV I can shit on". I had no idea what they can do yet so I didn't mind them much. Then she brought out her AP Carpet bombs and took out nearly my entire HP with only hundreds of my HP left then another turn around finished me off. I was like "Fuck. Those AP Bombs are illegal".

I ran into a Malta yesterday while in an Austin. I did mow down a ton of planes and he only got one second drop on me, but he absolutely wreaked my ship in 3 runs. Oh, there was also a Louisiana that bombed me just to add insult to injury.

the highest single run i got from the Malta's APDB was over 22K dmg on a jinan. thats more than half of its 35k max hp... i think the fact that it's also the most forgiving TX CV makes it tough to be on opposite team. ive had games where i lost over 120 planes and still wasnt deplaned

As a Malta owner I can say that it is easy to play (Hak and Midway are better tho), all planes are decent damage dealers but there are some downsides to Malta that were not mentioned. First off, it has totally BAD AA defense, Im talkin T8 AA. Ive been killed in one trip by FDR TB's twice now, shot down 4 planes each time. Im thinking a Midway or a Hak might be able to take out a Malta in two trips with TB's. I lose on average 70-80 planes a match which leaves the Malta with about 1/2 a squadron of each type by the end of a match, at that point you have one attack left for each type. Ive also been one shot by a Yamato at very long range, lucky RNG for him to be certain, but Midway would have bounced those deck hits. As SLM says, cruisers have to be either stationary or driving in a straight line to get slammed hard by multiple cits, and only certain cruisers will take cits, mostly UK light cruisers and KM cruisers. Ive yet to cit a Russian or IJN cruiser, havent had the opportunity to try a run on a French or Italian yet.

Hakuryu is still better than Malta in good hands but Malta (and Nakhimov) are much easier to play well. Haku also has superior survivability due to Malta and Nakhimov having raised and exposed citadels.

Met one yesterday in my Hipper. Took 3/4 of my health off in 2 (poorly aimed!!) strikes from a single squadron, then deleted a 1/3 health Hindenburg next to me with the remaining strike. Completely ignoring our combined AA of course.

Lost half my health In a dm to 1 Group of planes. While using my defensive aa while also next to another dm with defensive aa, the Malta only lost 2 planes. Thanks to cv spotting the enemy then killed me while trying to dodge. Gj wg. Edit: Also killed 40 Malta planes while in a Halland that the cv was attacking fkr the entire game. By the end of the game I was still being attacked by full squadrons.

Fixing CV's would be so simple. Give them a global cooldown on planes. This would simulate the carrier needing to recover planes, load and fuel them for a new mission, then launch them again. Right now, it's ridiculous that you can just hit a key and instantly launch a new flight. Give them a global CD before launching a new flight.

This is true. Malta is easy to use. Easy to blap light cruisers and destroyers but is no where near as effective at turning the tide of the battle like the hak, midway or as strong as the nakimov overall. The AP bombs do minimal damage against armored ships unlike mvr or hak AP or even midway he bombs and the torps while they can hit for 10k is no where near as scary as seeing a full spread from nakimov or fdr

@@abbysaito5348 In ranked if someone brings a light cruiser they are either really good (1%) or they die in the first 3 minutes (99%), so I doubt the AP bombs will be that insanely effective. The AP bombs do quite a bit of damage per strike, but the reality is that Malta often eats that random flak for some reason so 2 runs max pretty much. Ultimately it's just normal pen damage from 8-12k, not citadel damage from 12-20k. the torps are somewhat questionable. They are made to be really easy to use for beginners, but for the more accustomed pilots, the spread just means that it is way harder to land on targets when they turn. Also, every competitive CV has some form of the god-like torpedo, so there's that. And finally the planes are so slow that they stay for quite a while inside the flak

Somewhat new to the game, there was a 2 year gap in my early history with wows. I actually really dig the concept of carriers even tho I’ve seen them get a lot hate in some games I’ve been in recently. Out of spite I made a decision that was probably pretty bad, having maybe a total of one year of playtime I shouldn’t be buying high teir CVs until I master the lower tier. But I just saw the “newer” version of the movie midway. And was at the same time pretty inspired, so I bought the malts half from spite, and half from inspiration. With a coupon a lil bit of steel, and the rest coal I was able to acquire the ship for myself. I consider it to be my flagship of my lil virtual navy i got going, so idk thanks for making this video it helps and is informative on these subjects.

I feel you mate. In my Nevsky the other day I got chunked 16k, then 10k then 6k in 3 drops of the same flight by this broken POS. Next game I got shotgunned by a sub in my Venezia despite having double rudder and not being spotted until within 2km as I had my smoke up. Haven't played since. Don't know if I will. Definitely not putting any more money into this game again.

no no no... Aquila is easier to pen because the striking angle, it shoots more vertical, hence, easjer to penetrate deck but harder to citadel well protected ship. German AP rocket strike at lower angle hence easier to penetrate citadel from sides

Just not a fan of the CV and subs, original game just doesn't seem to be designed for fair integration. CV was added to neutralize destroyers and shorten games making credits more difficult to come by. At the very least, just give players the option to choose games without them and play old school like the game was designed originally. That can't be too difficult.

The weapons on each type of plane are good, but the aircraft themselves are easy to take out with high AA, so to say you can hurt cruisers is not really accurate, especially if they have even remotely good AA.... and as always, never attack 2+ ships at a time as that is suicide for the Malta's planes.

@@SkyRaider-31 Would you like a list of ships that Malta players, and CV players in general, need to be wary of? Halland is still unappoachable, Mino in smoke, DM, Wooster, Puerto Rico. A Sherman is also something to be wary of, this ship can be an AA beast if its speced up for that. I generally avoid any cruiser that I know has a panic button. Best defense vs a CV is the same defense against a BB.....wsad. Never drive in a straight line for very long.

SLB....this CV is pretty toxic. the problem is is if you are in a light Cruiser you have next to no counterplay. if by maneuvering (or simple maneuver in WG speak) you reduce it from 3/4 go to only 1/2 or 1/3 of your hp being wiped away that is still toxic as hell. you can do the same in a few different cv's, they get to do that in particular to ships that can shred their squadrons when using def aa boost.

I'm not the best cv player but since the rocket change I've got really good at using carpet bombs against speeding dds so hitting a cl will be easy. Definitely picking this as next coal ship.

It's funny to hear you try to say that Malta isn't OP. EVERY CV is OP. Period. It's only a matter of degree. No fires, automated ASW, best spotting of any ship in the game, and the ability to focus an punish any ship with little risk to your own. No other class is as protected or as unrealistic as CV's are in this game. Aircraft are not ammunition, but that's what they are treated as in this game.

@@merafirewing6591 An aircraft carrier is not a factory that produces planes and aviators to fly those planes. Lose the aviators and you lose the ability to fight. WG CV's are not anything that resembles an actual aircraft carrier.

Break this down. In a salvo that you can reload every 30 seconds in a BB you can easily deal 5-20k damage. In a cruiser that reloads every 7-17 seconds you can deal 3-20k damage if not more. And people are whining that every 2 minutes IF a CV hit ALMOST ALL of its ordinance they can do about the same. There are not many CV players that can accurately hit the rockets and torps. I can dodge 3 out of torps in a fast BB cruiser and generally all in a DD. Then the CV player has to fly all the way back again, where as a BB can just line up and shoot again. Stop crying about every CV out there and just play the game. Sometimes a CV will pick on you, so what. DDs can pop smoke that lasts 2 minutes and there is NOTHING you can do as a BB. They are undetectable up until 5KMS! Seriously, all this bitching about CVs is just getting sad. They aren't going anywhere, wither stop playing or build a bridge and deal with CVs that can deal damage.

Hello, lately almost all the channels I follow are paying more and more attention to Tier 10 ships. I guess this is justified from the point of view of the fans of these channels. In-game though, for the past 4 and more weeks, the presence of T10 ships in "random battles" has become unbearable. I have chosen to specialize in the German T8 cruiser Mainz and the battleship Tirpitz. Unfortunately, though, it's almost impossible to get into a battle dominated by T8 or T7 ships. What's more, in the last 3 weeks I'm always if not the only one, of only 3 Tier 8 ships in a Tier 10 team. And by T10 I mean predominantly T10, not T9 and a few T10. This started to become a very annoying situation that pretty much put me off using any of my Tier 8 ships. I would really like to be able to select "no T10 ships/battles please". I personally am a fan of the more historically accurate ships, those from T5 and T6 for example, to realistic ones in T8. The ships in T9 and T10 do not match these characteristics, with too many gadgets, and too much firepower, the game becomes something completely different. I know there is a large group of players who like this, but there are also those like me who don't like it. I would really like to have the option, especially in "random battles" to limit my participation in teams to T9 ie. no Tier10 ships battles. Let them play with themselves, or even T9, but I'm bored of being the cannon fodder in T10 fights.

Too be fair, shells are far easier to dodge than Planes that literally can track your movement, spot you and spawn their "shells" right into your face Thats what people find disgusting about CVs

@@nicz7694 There is no dodging Yamato's shells in a Minotaur or a light cruiser, you get lolpenned at any angle. Level bombers' drop on the other hand can be mitigated AND the CV gets punished for focusing a Mino/Jinan/Worcester/and whatnot....

Thanks so very little for encouraging the purchase of this ship, the latest in a long list of cancer-ships. WG loves these videos that on the surface appear critical while in reality promote purchases out the kazoo. FOR FREE. How many glue-sniffers clicked on "Most Busted Ship" and then scuttled off to the armory 30 seconds in? You can tell yourself content like this supports the player base by highlighting glaring weaknesses they can exploit to counter this ship. It's a CV ... WHAT WEAKNESSES? Speaking for myself the only actual defense against this ship is to avoid loading into the game. I usually enjoy your videos but I find this one to be disappointing.

But, yeah, getting pinged by a sub by surprize, hitting the damage con and then getting pinged again a few seconds later feels like a really dumb game mechanic. What was the point of the damage con?

true, CV players should understand that they can play world of warplanes if they want to play with aircraft's. make a no cv game mode so the mosquitoes can play with themselves and bots.
