Regarding the "afk" Benson, I noticed that he was moving about a minute after battle begins. There's a thing Warships does for me every so often where it sits there in the loading screen for far longer than it should, and I can't get in until like a minute or two after it starts. I'm not sure if it's because of RAM deciding not to work, or crap internet for a moment, but if it happens to one person, it could happen to anyone, so it's entirely possible that that's what's going on there. It's only so noticeable and anger-inducing because he's a Destroyer and he needs to get into his position as quickly as he can.

I routinely get overly long loading screens, particularly for the first match after logging in. Because of this, I have started doing the first match in a co-op battle with mid-tier ships. After the first long loading screen is out of the way I move on to the more interesting content.

I always had a crack theory, it seems that whenever an ally rammed me for being AFK, that glitch would go away and the map would render. At least, when the match sound was playing over the pre-game screen. I think there was more than one version of that glitch.

I recently got DC'd just as a battle was starting. I wasn't able to reconnect, and it would have appeared to the rest of the team as if I was AFK. I have no idea if any of them reported me, but the game itself noted that I didn't move at all during the battle, and the next time I logged in I got a message saying that due to 'Unsporting Conduct', or words to that effect, I would be 'pink' for the next 5 battles providing there were no more infringements. So, as Jingles rightly points out, there is no need for players to jump up and down if they perceive someone to be AFK as the game has its own mechanism for dealing with such cases.

2:56 best ship to have to run from game, and be kind of AFK, Schlieffen. Had to leave a match at start today, set way points, and ran off, came back to 23k damage and dead, but yeah, not many other ships can do that.

Did it in my Kongou, once, after telling the team to use me as bait. Definitely worth it if you have a few seconds before you need to step away. Got about 2000-5000 secondary and fire damage and survived, despite sailing into enemy cap at 3/4 speed

on a Dell 9020 so old MS doesn't recog the chip, i think the last BIOS update was 2013, and my Barracuda HDD from (?) 2012. load up of the game takes FOREVER, but i'm on a fat pipe, 64MB ram, so everything "just works". if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

A few things about AFK teammates: when I played, I would often experience some kind of load-in glitch where I'd be stuck on the pre-battle screen but I could hear teammates' horns. It's possible but not confirmed that a gentle sideswipe from a friendly would sometimes clear the bug. But sometimes the match wouldn't load for up to a full minute and I'd have to rush to catch up. Once, I had to take an important phone call just as a match started (I goofed by logging in under those circumstances). I was playing my Kongou, so I set 3/4 ahead, plotted a course thru the center to the enemy cap (standard battle), and typed in chat, "I'm gonna be AFK the whole battle, use me as bait." I wouldn't recommend making a habit of that, but I netted non-humiliating XP, my secondaries did over 2000 damage (probably including fires), and the ship survived. It was definitely better than just walking away. And my team won. The people blaming the Benson for the collapse of the entire NW flank got off easy, they deserve a solid Jingles tongue-lashing for being a bunch of infallible little tryhard snowflakes who think their teammates' job is to "support" them from across the map, through islands, and despite their obvious and imminent sinking due to their own incompetence. And may the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits.

It's only "BB caliber" SAP that's limited to overpen damage on DDs. The pasta cruisers can (and are kinda meant to) absolutely slap DDs with their SAP. I think the new supercruiser won't, though, it's guns are large enough to be overpen only.

That Gato character, who went on crying about the afk Benson, is missing the point. If 1 ship dooms your entire flank, it means that your flank is rubbish. Yes Benson did play his part, but nothing was stopping Gato from disengaging the enemy DD, but instead he chose to go at him and to die. The flank's Jinan was useless parked behind an island, their BB was 20km away from the nearest target, Cleveland got his ass handed over to him, how is any of this Benson's fault?

Jingles, what you was saying about being AFK, I was in a battle whereby I was reported for being AFK, when actually I was playing. The last stages of the match, I went to cap their base in a storm, visibility 8km, a team mate called me out for being AFK. At the end back in port WG sent a message, I didn't receive any credits absolutely nothing + a 3 battle of being pink. Work that out.

The Benson probably isn't AFK. He's probably just not been loaded into the game by the shitty WG servers. Has happened personally to me MANY times and I've witnessed it many times too, the first (usually up to 2 mins - sometimes for the whole battle), you are just staring at the battle loading screen, unable to take part, but you can see ships being destroyed. It's also pretty much the only reason you are turned pink now that friendly fire has been removed. In fact, if you look, about 2ish mins in, the Benson starts to move.

Thing is, if you payed attention, before I advanced into the first cap, I positioned behind the mid island. When I saw a lot of the enemies sailing behind islands, as well as my DDs not wanting to cap, I acted. The amazing concealment of the Napoli also helped me a lot
