That rain of secondaries from the Schlieffen also has a psychological effect on the enemy player, they tend to do a lot more mistakes.

When Schlieffen first just came out, I engaged it with my harugumo at maximum range. I landed every shot and his guns never bothered pointing at me. But that psychological effect you're talking about was so strong, I sunk after a minute. XD He shot more secondary shots at me than I did in a gun build harugumo.

Tech line ships are credit/xp sinks that are meant to goade you into buying goodies to make the sailing smoother, AND to get premiums so you can actually make some credits off battles. As soon as I grind a line to 10 she becomes a port queen till CB/ranked seasons, otherwise your balance starts suffering.

No, tech tree ships are perfectly good to play. If you want premium credits at tier 10, just use credit boosters or buy the economic bonus. I don't know anyone who grinds entire lines just to not play them. That's dumb.

Umm, you don't say? It's a f2p game after all and they need progression system for new players to learn the game. Also, T10 credits is fine even without any boost IF you're able to score some base exp.

For tech line DDs I'd definitely pick the British line over the Italian one. Tier 8-10 are great for every game mode you come across. Not the most fun line ever but usability wise, can't be beaten.

Totally agree, the British DDs are a 'can do it all' destroyer; contest a cap, burn stuff from smoke/over an island, useful-ish torps, and good stealth for spotting. The downsides are a lack of speed and not being specialists in DPM or Torps. I still take out my Somme ("special" T9 Lightning) all the time and do fine up-tiered in T10 games by being a bit careful.

I used to agree but they really suffer from slow speeds. They should get an engine boost, I mean many recent BBs can catch up with these DDs... That's why vampire 2 is so great.

@@taserrr Man you see BBs miles away to turn and run sooner. Of course it will be better to have more speed but thats just one flaw they have. Daring has pretty good DPM, usable torps that you can lunch in single mode, 360 turrets, ok concealment, short smokes, hydro, heals. Way better than Italian DDs.

I like Castilla in Clan Battles. A surprise AP salvo into broadside cruisers can work wonders and the HE makes it good enough in kiting, too

I surprise you suggest Italian DD while European Gdansk line have access to very strong gun, smoke, radar and speed. You trade the ability to use AP on them and your concealment is bad but with HE DPM so high Gdansk you end up breaking almost every enemy DD you encounter in.

The DesMo used to be a terror in the game. However i see them rarer and rarer these days. And when they show up, the seem to be played by unexperienced players since they are taken out rather quickly. Schlieffen is a great BC - if your team allows it. If the enemy DD screen is taken care of, you are going to have a blast. However there are also these rounds where you have to stay back because of the enemy DDs and subs winning the scout engangement - and they can spot you without you spotting them. And then you are usually focussed down by the enemy team. Spanish an Italians i cant say, but the Yamato is a solid BB, even today. However, you have to know how to use it - and you have to accept that there are better BBs out there.

Fair enough you are a BB main. To echo others, the Italian DDs are perhaps not what DD captains would pick. I play Italian DDs if I'm not taking the match seriously and just want to mess around with its funky play style.

Much more fun and universal ship than big fat slow Yamato. It can brawl, kite, murder cruisers with AP, burn BBs...best BB for me.

SCHLIEFF ist absolutely nuts. Its like "psycho warfare",even DDs with great concealment think twice to run into a cap,when they read the Mini map 😂. Put your SCHLIEFF at the edge of a cap,just in seccondary range, probably near an island and... everyone is "gangsta"...til those German secondarys go off 😂

The spanish premium Numancia is even more extreme. I love to play it in ranked. Low normal dpm, but hell, if someone dares to show their flat broadside. Difference to techline is, it has 3 instead of 2 shots in alternative, plus the shots make 25% more dmg with AP than normal. So you basically dish out a 3.75x salvo in 4 seconds. About 145k theoretical damage within 4 seconds. That murders pretty much every cruiser at tier 8 when showing broadside, no matter how much health is left...

Still have the Legendary mod on the Des Moines, along with the Engine Mod. That combo still throws off a lot of aim at longer distances to this day.

I would say French dd line. man, from t7 and on, they can really bully enemy dd and crusiers with their reload booster. The Kleber at t10, can have so much impact on a whole flank. You can remove dd´s, keep crusiers and bbs´ at bay with torps and run down subs and yea all of it. High speed, high saturation you can even tank for your bbs if needed.

Enemy DD will sail to cap, will cap, and you will just juke around dare to go close to cap cos you will be spotted miles before you reach that DD. So you pretty much just run around the cap like crazy and shot bbs...which can easy heal your HE demage. Not much impact on the game..

Des moines is rough to play without her legmod because of her higher citadel and overall 27mm (all but very few T9 and T10 BB are at minimum 406mm+ caliber). Up to Baltimore is good, even I find Pensacola and New Orleans isn't that bad as many would believe.

Pensacola was fun for me, New Orleans isn't too bad either, catch a cruiser broadside and count the citadel hits. US cruisers are great, Helena is blast with 15 152's at T7.

The Pensacola is a fine ship for playing operations. She is especially good in "Killer Whale", as her AP makes short work of the shore batteries.

Hey Sea Lord, So I have watched many of your review videos and have gained many tips and tricks on how to play. I'm new to world of War Ships and just recently got to some tier VI ships. The grind is super slow and frustrating but I keep pressing forward. Like this video review on top 5 techline ships you picked all tier X and one tier VIII. How about a review on tier V and VI ships and add some how to advance tips with it. Not all of us have $$$, credits, XP or experience to play tier X. Thanks, KungFuCarpenter

If you are willing to learn the Italian line then you are going to have fun as they are IMHO one of the strongest lines. Not high damage ships but high win rate due to their utility. I use short range guns with dazzle on the tier VI and VII and use the long range captain skill on tier VIII and up. However, it does not stop at tier VIII. My best winning percentage in in the Adriatico. Just average in the tier X but I suspect that is more due to my limitations as a player.

Pan American line is also nifty. The battle order gimmick with the sort of British heal is neat. But right now I only have 2 ships left to grind, and since both a British carriers I am just going to use free XP. In three days I can reset my American destroyers, then I will have a line to grind again.

I know shes an odd/unique and squishy Cruiser but JINAN is my favourite - you can build into main reload, smoke and detection range add her speed and deep water high speed long range torpedo vomit 40 in less than 30 seconds she can get into and out of trouble easy .... But yes, you make a mistake and booop you are obliterated in an instant doesn't matter if you are broadside or not - not a new player line but she makes the grind to get the T10 JINAN worth it. She is harder to play in the long range meta and sometimes she can get hobbled BUT there is nothing as fun as sneaking in, smoking up and pumping out a HE spew or using her low detection range, 40 torp spread and launching them at those pesky back row BBs and watch the chaos begin!

UK St.Vincent is an amazing BC, can’t recommend it enough. It’s two single torps do high damage, so there’s a fun factor there too.

I feel like the spanish cruisers are a bit too squishy if you are not top tier. You can get citadeled from weird angles and their top armour is weak vs battleship long range fire. But I agree with the fun double salvo wrecking other ships showing broadside.

I like Worecester fire. Fast. , Republique for close combat😅, Baije (or its Izumo ver on tier 9), Colossus and Graf Zeppelin, Flandre on 8. Schliffen very good yeah. I like St Vincent very much. I also like Alsace and its chinese ver, too. I also like Tranclucator (event on ru server ship, Delaware with ghost from italians)🎉

My top 5 is(don't mind the order): DM, Monti, Schlieffen, Petro and Shima. So I'm glad I got 2 out of 5 xD. And a little "Actually, Jingles" correction about Schlieffen's toprs that are 13.5km and not 12km. Now I'm thinking to start the Cunberti line right after this video. Cheers o7

For me these are best ships I like to play a lot: Jupiter 42, F. Ferruccio, Minegumo, Champagne, Jager, Somme, Lushun, Black, Cossack, Daring, Smaland, St. Vincent, Schlieffen, Napoli, Brisbane, Moskva, Petro, Defence, Agir, Karl Johan. And now after the buffs I am trying Colombo and its way better than old Colombo.

must line ? in no particular order : the yami ( i found them all nice to play starting by kongo), i m very biased toward french BB line DD line and battle cruiser cruiser too. shliffen was nice, and british battle cruiser too

When I still played, the best national DD line was a toss up between French and UK. French for open water gunboating where they took over from my beloved Khaba line, and the UK which sort of took over from the American's in their team oriented support / jack of all trades gameplay. Having watched some streams, following people like Trenlas on this platform and Twitch, there is no way I would have 'guessed' the ITA DD's were now the top pick,. SAP might give 'dependable consistent damage output' if you know how to aim, destroyers are not that much 'damage focused' to be a top pick. As long as you can effectively counter an enemy DD from PTFO, your DD is a 'winning pick'. Also surprised there are no light cruisers in your lineup. Just babyboats and a single loliboat. Light cruisers who can PTFO in support of their DD's win games / enable their DD's to win games. Being in a battleship and having great damage potential is nice for your epeen, but battleships are one of the hardest classes to play in way which really benefits your team. PTFO with battleships requires a lot more tactical insights in how the battle is developing, team compositions and map awareness, sure this applies to all classes but while with a battleships you *should* be able to have consistent damage output sessions, that doesn't correlate directly to your win rate. In short: want damage consistency -> play battleships. Want wr consistency -> play destroyers or light cruisers ( or 'support cruisers' like a DM, which can lock down a cap if there is an island corner if can park at ). There are always ships or even nations where this applies a lot less compared to others, but I still think this is a pretty solid statement.

Overall a good video except for two things. Yamato (0.1.1) was introduced earlier than the Montana (0.3.1). The clip you showed of the Vittorio Cuniberti was uninspiring, showing a ship losing 90-95% of its hp fighting 1 DD. Maybe the Z52, Daring or Gearing would have been better choices.

I liked Italien dds upp to cuniberti then they lacked compared to other dds, I like sliffen in most game modes, u just need to think about were and what u are doin in randoms. It's a powerhouse in ranked

As @sirtogii5216 pointed out, I'd recommend British DDs over the Italian ones. The range of the Italians is pathetic. If you don't have a ten point commander, *you'll be spotted before you can shoot.* I'd also recommend the US DDs over Italy's. Personally, I had a rather bad experience with Farragut (I was fairly new when I got it). Mahan is ok, but Benson+ are really fun.

Agree with you on the Spanish line. I just discovered this and ground the line up. Burst fire is just a useful and powerful tool on an otherwise very decent ship. Surprised the community has not embraced them. You can either run range or reload-both work. The guns are deadly accurate and shells are fast. I actually use the burst fire all the time at range because you then can go dark between shots. Once you go dark, red ships tend to lose interest. You then burst them again and wiggle around while they re- acquire. Once the enemy has been whittled you can then get in close and wreck some things.

My favorites are Des Moines, Hindenburg, Petropavlovsk, Kremlin. The Yammy goes through the Izumo, which feels kinda shit in todays WoWS, similar to Iowa. And the tier9 part of the grind is obviously the longest.I would not recommend that to players who want to enjoy themselves.

Desmo has been nerfed by reducing her acceleration on the legendary module which used to be amazing. Her armour has been buffed so she now not overmatched by 16" AP, but there's alot more 18" AP now so she gets hammered by that, but she's a curiser so she shouldn't be getting in nose fights with bbs. Similarly island hugging isn't really a doable tactic with carriers because her AAA is much less effective, combined with her now very much reduced manouverability. Plus her ASW isn't amazing, personally I'd love to see her manouverability brought back. I'll have to look into the Spanish curiser line. Italian dds I think are defnitiely better at lower tiers. Both US and Japanese bb lines are worth grinding I think they're classic lines, Yamato's guns are nice personally I'd rather have Montana (accuracy more flexible) but I realise people don't agree.

I do totaly disagree with the italian Dd line. I tried to make it work. But it very much depends on different things if it does fine. Without support your pretty much not in a favourable situation. Your getting outspotted hard and still you have to go in as your gunrange is not very high. In result you need to be very patient and passive until the situation matches your needs to be able to engage. Then, and only then these ita DDs are shining. But you cannot rely on yourself alone.

They need to have high skill captains, at least 15 points to make them work but when you do they are so much fun. RPF and concealment keep the guns as short range as possible and just dip in and out of combat. The T4 is easy the best dd and T5-7 are up there.

Sometimes it worked but as i said: when you get outspotted and you face a lot if enemy cruisers it is hard to stay alive. Rpf might be a gamechanger. And i actually only have a 10 points captain on my t8. So i feel there is something to find out. But its not a beginners ship.

Italian dd's ? would say Daring line, Gdansk over Italian. Surprised Vincent isn't on there, would take the Vincent over the Yamato every day of the week, in fact I'd take the Vincent over just about any other battleship.

The gameplay for the Schlieffen wasn’t a very good sell on the line… Edit: Actually most of the clips of the ships weren’t that great at selling them as “good”. Only the DD and DM really showcased what they could do. Should have shown a Schlieffen clip of it raining secondaries the whole time, or shown the Yammy doing massive chunk salvos, which it’s more than capable of. Instead we got both battleships playing at very long range doing middling damage.

I don't like Yamato. In my experience it's a one trick pony that gets 95% Overpens even on BBs and with long reload it makes for a very frustrating or boring gameplay. I had much more fun with Izumo.

You can't go wrong with Monty. Not the biggest guns, but you have very reliable armor at all ranges, above-average AA, superheavy AP, and 12 16" guns that can still clap anyone dumb enough to underestimate you.

@@frankwong9486 Yep. Non-US BBs can get Aiming Systems Mod 1 in Slot 3 to gain a reduction to their max dispersion ( -7%) for their main guns for better accuracy. But Yamato's Legendary Upgrade in Slot 6 (-7% max dispersion) stacks with Aiming Systems Mod 1, and combined with Yamato's 2.1 Sigma, it essentially turns her guns into lasers.

Castilla is one the worst and less played cruiser. Its guns are not that powerfull and god, it takes citadel from every angles. I like playing BB against castilla, it's so easy to kill. Surprised that St-Vincent is not listed like it's the most powerfull BB of the game, as well as Marseille nor Hindenburg while they both are extremelty powerfull heavy cruiser

Schlieffen is absolutly overrated. It lacks of HP. U never come in sec range - u will be dead before u reach anything. Des moines is overrated af. In todays bb overwatch meta with 457+ caliber its absolutly not worth the grind

I'll agree with DM being power crept by 457s. Schlieffen is fine. With a full secondary build (and Lutjens), it is downright terrifying.

@@USAFraimius Schlieffen is ok if you have the right situation for it. Like no CV, no subs and good map. Then it can be pretty good. But with CV around its pretty much impossible to make some surprise attack from stealth. If it see you pushing it will just murder you...

I hope you don't have to take a random drug test anytime soon Sea Lord, I don't think you'd pass right now. Okay, my list of top 5 techline ships are as follows: 5. U-190, yeah I know subs are scum and all that but they are part of the game now and you need to learn how they operate in order to defeat them. As subs go the U-190 is really good, lots of utility and good detection. 4. Lexington, as CV's go the Lex is still one of the best. Great planes, good alpha damage, and great AA. 3. Alexander Nevsky, it really has everything you need to do well in a cruiser, radar, great dpm, excellent ballistics, good AA. 2. Bismarck, it's still the Bis and it still is a lot of fun. You may not get torps but the hydro is very nice for pushing in and it still has great secondaries and great armor. Good all around BB. 1. Fletcher, there are so many different versions of this ship but the OG Fletcher is still in my opinion the best all around well rounded DD. It really can do it all and is a lot of fun. Honorable mentions: Montana, Venezia, Roon, Kitakaze

There shouldn’t be any actual bots in Ranked, unless a player themselves is “boting” which is against TOS.

@@sealordmountbatten however, they are in every rank game..a player cannot be so stupid to sit next to a dd at a distance of 5-6 km in the head and not give a radar of 10/12 kn range,. and there are many examples that not even a player of 300 games does.. especially someone who has 200 / 300 kraken for 4-5 thousand games played and many others disguised in ..or or or or Ukrainian name
