Hey Jingles, if you go into the settings under "Controls" and look right next to the "Ok" button you can turn on Detailed ribbons indicators showing if your shell penetrated, bounced, spalled, or over penned while in battle, and it also turns on a damage indicator in the battle. Not sure if you already knew about this but thought id tell you anyway :)

Jingles IJN DDs from T8-T10 have really amazing guns, meaning that if you in anyway competent in a IJN DD you use your guns a lot more. I often treat my Fubuki as a gunboat. Often you also get the first salvo off since your concealment is way better, and if your aim is decent you can easily do a casual 3k volley before they can blink :p

Hey Jingles, Love your videos. I have a question for you. I freely admit I am not a good player, matter of fact my playing ability is on the suckish side.... Can you make a video or just answer this question. What is the best way to avoid getting torped when coming around a corner of an island?? I tried slowing down/stopping and still catch a spread in the side. Any tricks?? Turn out away from the corner?? I'm interested to know the best way.

I must say 2k base xp game feels different from "10k xp game", especially when so many detonations are involved :/ And you should get a paddling for giving broadside to 1 cruiser and two battleships just to get that 2nd set of torps off against that Hipper. Devils luck tho.

The Mahan is a good ship when fully upgraded. It's a lot of fun and I've had monster games in it. It's biggest Achilles' heel is that it has the worst detection range of all the American destroyers. Which is kinda funny because it's also the first American DD to boast a torpedo range in excess of that detection range.

I have advanced firing training on my Farragut captain, it gives me a range of about 15 km. The shell travel time is horrible, about 12 seconds, but hey, at least I can be shooting at something rather than just milling around. The angle is hilarious, I can fire over anything but the highest mountains.

How do they count experiance? I had a game yesterday in my Tier 8 Japanese DD, and I did över 180k damage and got 15 torpedo hits and got High Caliber. But I only got a little over 6k exp. And that was for the first win of the day.

Hey Jingles, I have one question regarding the shell travel time in the game, and since you were actually in the navy, I figured you could give a clear answer :) So let's take this video for example, at the minute 28:54, there is a target at 4,4km distance and the shell travel time is 2,4 seconds to it. That means the shell has a speed of around 1800 meters per second, which contradicts the shell velocity specified in the game which is well bellow 1000m/s for most ships. Am I missing something here? Thx!

Speaking of detonations, luckiest I've ever been was in the Tirpitz. Shot at a Zao to start a match, one AP shell connects. Magazine detonation, one shot dead, first shell taken by anyone in the match a tier 8 kills a t10. I apologized and he was understandably salty about RNGesus hating him.

Jingles, there is one advantage to the slower, longer range torpedoes on the Mahan, they have a much lower detection range. But you are right it is a downgrade from Farragut, 10tonhammer did a guide on it saying you shift to more a torpedo oriented ship that has usable guns which I also found success in the Mahan

About the Atago (Takao) , its not the heal consumable that makes it special . Its the guns and working front armor. Mogami is just a giant citadel and can be killed just by looking at it , but this thing... You can't even imagine how many times I've absolutely humiliated BBs with this ting. Just face him while steaming towards him and maneuver (change speed and course) , they cant kill and you just eider burn them or torp them. Its also one of the best ships to run and shoot those who chase you. What makes this ship an absolute monster is the guns. Atago , Ibuki and Senjo have the biggest fire chance in the game , with captain skill and flags , you just burn everything you see.

Jingles, why you'd use the C hulls on IJN destroyers? You only gain some extra 25mm guns but you lose a turret for that priviledge. You should stick with the B hulls. Losing a turret is not worth it, considering how high krupp the IJN DD's HE has.

I'm surprised the Mikasa didn't have the forward mounted torpedo tubes as an option in game as the ship IRL had some mounted below the waterline. Wouldn't be the first BB to have torps.

Actually, while I don't actively pursue DDs in my Battleships, I'm not hesitant to get in close with one. At that range, the main guns and secondaries stop missing, which means that with a bit of preemptive positioning and HE Loading, a DD's shitty armor will very quickly betray it. I do this most often in my Fuso and Nagato, of course, especially the Nagato with her plentiful secondaries. You'd be amazed at how relatively little damage a DD's Torps will do to a BB when only a few of them can hit. In fact, I think it may be time for a story. Tier 9 game and I'm stuck in my Tier 7 BB. It's also a very island-heavy map, so there's only so much long-range fire I can put out effectively since my shots always hit a bunch of rocks first. As such, I'm mostly useless. But, I notice what I think was an enemy Mahan on the mini-map pulling up behind one of the islands I was travelling towards... is this little bugger going to try and ambush me? Well, let's give him a nasty little surprise, shall we? Load the HE, slow to about 3/4 so as not to come up on him TOO fast, and point the guns forward. Closing in on where I assume he'll be coming out, and I turn the bow inwards ready to avoid as many Torps as possible. He appears EXACTLY where I thought he would and he launches every Torpedo he has at the "unsuspecting" Nagato that lumbered into range, and about 4 or so of them hit... but it's just not enough. The Nagato's still up and running and now he has a set of very big, scary guns pointed directly as his forehead and there's nothing he can do about it. I turn the ship to hug the side of the island and get the rear turrets aimed as well, then launch a full HE Broadside into him as the secondaries pepper away- naturally he gets deleted in excess. I get sunk by an allied Hatsuharu's stray Torpedo, but I actually opted to let it hit me. I'm useless anyway and that DD is about all I'm going to do, and I'm going to have difficulties avoiding the torpedo, so... may as well maximize the amount of credits I earn and get into another match ASAP. And that was the story of how my fat stupid BB made a Destroyer captain very upset on BOTH sides. c:

Mahan has the same rudder shift as the Farragut, Jingles, you just need to upgrade the hull. It also has better gun arcs, especially for the center mount. I really enjoyed the Mahan, but only when I ran speed flags every game, because it is diabolically slow.

OF COURSE! Jingles uses rudder shift mod on a ship with a THREE SECOND rudder shift! You need to use ACCELERATION MOD! It is so very much better and allows you to play so much more nimbly!

Driving my Minekaze last week - summary screen: Artillery 0/12400 - yup the bad guy missed me and the splash damage caused a detonation. No idea how that appears on his summary as it only seems to count hits.

Can be worse, a few days ago on the estuary map I was in my fubuki and nearly ran head long into an enemy fubuki as I came around an island, I fired my guns and the very first shell detonated him.

I am taking Maham to ranked battles since im high enough not to be able to take Nicholas. the main advantage of it is the ability to stealth torp. After the knife fights with DDs if you're the last survivor with low hp you have the option to switch to IJN style of play... Especially when you take high tier captain (as you should to ranked).

I love my Gremyaschy as well, but I had a player who was calling me a noob and that claimed that I didn't know how to play the Gremyaschy even though I was playing it correctly. I had told them about the advantages and disadvantages about that ship, but nope, they didn't listen and still insisted that I was playing it wrong. Even though it was a defeat, I had more experience than what that troll had and was happy with my damage output.
