@@TML34 I agree with much of that, but issues with the panel gaps are far more common to the industry to this very day then people seem to think and touchscreens are in literally everything. And yes, the transition to EVs regardless of manufacturer is a step towards lessening our impact on the planet. Yes EVs currently have a greater impact at creation, and I say currently because cell chemistry and composition is changing, but studies consistently show they have much less impact over the lifetime of the vehicle. It’s impossible to create anything that has no impact, the goal is reducing impact. A combustion engine car will always pollute every single time it is in use and has an entire energy chain from the extraction of oil to the burning of gas in your car that’s cut out with EVs. The energy grid can (and is in) transition, and even if you were using coal it is still less of an impact to drive an EV than a combustion powered car when in use. Rare earth metals are misnamed, they’re not as uncommon as you think, and they are being slowly eliminated in batteries. EVs are not perfect, but they are a better solution for transportation needs than the combustion engine vehicle. Hydrogen has its challenges that prevent it from being a viable alternative, and it is not actually a green fuel because of the way it is extracted.

I have both Plaid S and X I like the X a bit better because you sit up much higher and you never have to worry about ground clearance. No worries about curbs and bottoming out on dips and that kind of thing. The full windshield back behind your head on the X is annoying and the visors are small and inferior to the S. The Falcon wing doors on the X are super trick. Like the model S the X has a very solid feel and it's FAST! Full Self Driving is a hoot! FSD is like letting a teenage brain drive your car while you are at the controls. You have to watch it like a hawk. It's going to make some mistakes and drive badly sometimes. Using FSD is more stressful than just driving yourself. But it is quite entertaining and informative. You get to see the future coming!

I sold my 2021 S refresh for an X Plaid. I prefer the X for the same reasons, ground clearance, better view, and trick doors. Also, the X has better taillights. The doors take some learning though.

They are fun cars, if you can reliably mod them to be consistent, but everyone knew that that wasn't your daily driver. And, no matter what, on regular roads the EV would beat them every time. You can't beat the instantaneous torque. Pull up to a red light, or just cruising on the highway, you do a countdown and these crazy EVs will win every time. I'm just being real.

Each of the plaid motors can output 400hp in their current config, and Elon said they can be made to spin faster in the future. Right now the plaid motors are limited to 340hp (x3). In a future quad motor config with new batteries, we will see minimum 1600hp, and there's no reason they couldn't shove this new drivetrain into basically anything. Even without roadster SpaceX, certain Teslas will be into the 8 second range, and I don't see how 7s are impossible either with roadster.

I own a model X because it’s the safest SUV in the world. I bought it new as a 2017 and it has over 50,000 miles and has never been to a service center. Only maintenance are tires. I have solar panels so I save $500 a month on home electricity and gas. No oil filters in landfills. It is fast enough I don’t need a plaid version

So a model 3 with plaid motors and upgraded cooling would do 750HP, a plaid with a 120kwh battery would do ~1224HP.
