World Rummikub Championships

Danesfield House was a fitting location to welcome champions from 24 different countries to compete in the World Rummikub championships.
The game of Rummikub was developed by Mr. Ephraim Hertzano back in the 1930s when the sets were hand-made in the backyard by the immediate family. In the early fifties, Rummikub was sold door to door but gradually the game gained a reputation for outstanding play value and enjoyment which was spread by word of mouth.
Today, Rummikub is the third best-selling board game in the world and sold in over 50 countries.
Rummikub is a tile game in many ways similar to such games as Dominoes, Rummy, and Chess. Like card Rummy it is partly a game of chance but its outcome can also be influenced by calculated moves. Quick thinking and strategy are essential ingredients for success.
Although the best in the world had gathered to compete for the title, only four would battle it out in the final game.
The final match was held at the prestigious Langham Hilton in Central London, the favourite Peter Mentzij from Holland took the first two games which secured him the title.
