Thanks for the vlog Glenn. One of my favourite walks in Madeira. Did it for the 4th time last xmas. Well worth considering paying for a tour (40 euros) as they drop you off at Pico Arieiro and pick you up at the Achada do Teixeira. Saves the long walk back. The 'steps' (from hell) are a detour to avoid a landslip neat the last tunnel. It was much easier (well, a bit easier) to do before the rockfall. I remember doing this walk two weeks after the fire. The trees were still smouldering. Devastating but awesome at the same time. I'm off to Madeira tomorrow. Can't wait to get up those mountains.

Only just found your channel, and it's a cracking video! They certainly are in need of some rope bridges...but how civilised all that wire and handrailing...maybe have a word when you get back to the Lakes? Madeira and the Azores are certainly on the list, looks like the two of you had a great time.

We did the walk both ways a few years ago but there were very few people around. We too were thankful of the wire fence on a couple of sections as the wind was strong . Did you go to the far North and walk the crazy shaly, angled cliff path down to the point and along the rickety boardwalk with huge holes caused by falling boulders? 👻 The contorted lave flows in yellow and brown are amazing.

I got to admit this makes the Lake District look utterly pathetic- I will always like it and, being a man of the (English) north, I will always say it's the best in the world. But God damn that Madeira mountain route is 11/10- and they even provided railings and proper paths too. You never see that in the treacherous areas of the Lakes and Scotland!
@paulmagus21336 ай бұрын
think this walk more dangerous than your usual because of the steps everywere instead of sloping paths
